Scheduled bulk pick up one week ago and they never showed up. Called their office at 10am on a day of service cause nothing was picked up and was promised they will come before 3'30pm, called at 3:40pm and was promised they'll come before 6pm. Of course, nobody came. Now I have stuff on a curb for the whole weekend ( or a week? Who knows) cause I can't move it myself. One of the items is a heater and it's a safety issue to have it on a curb!

customer service is the most unhelpful , impatient and rude. we spoke to a woman who answered the phone on Sep 9th 2025. she was short, rushed through the phone call and treated me specifically like I am dumb. In the end we ended up with the account number not matching our address and we spoke to her for clarification and instructions two times. I am so frustrated that I will probably have to speak to her again and I bet yet again she will make me. seem stupid and incapable even though she was the one doing less than the bare minimum that she should

I am a YouTuber and I have been recoding Recology for 2 years and the drivers are so nice that one year for my birth day they gave me a garbage can toy and they always pick up on time and they love when I film them and I give them stuff to show support to the drivers for there work and my channel name is Erick and Alex

Dumped 7 big pieces of polystyrene foam from TV package for free. The whole process is smooth and staffs are really nice to give me instructions.

Correction to the post below. I was contacted by Recology and informed that SBI (south bayside industries) runs the transfer station and they are responsible for how much people are over charged. I’ve changed my review to a neutral three stars. SBI needs to charge by weight and not some guess by an attendant. I am a long time resident, voter and taxpayer and this is just wrong to force people drive long distances to get a fair price on dump fees! On 3/7/25 I went in to dump my trailer full of loose demo debris from a kitchen bath remodel. Toll taker measured for 5 minutes and said $906! I laughed so hard and said BYE BYE. Trailer is 14’ long. I went to blue line in ssf and dumped by weight for $325.00. They need to be out. We need a new company to take over.

Terrible blue bin service. They miss the pick up over half the time and when I send a complaint they say "So sorry, leave it out and we'll get it tomorrow." They don't get it and I have to wait another week and hope they get it (50/50 it this point). I'd love a refund but we know that isn't going to happen.

Billed a fee for collection of bulky items, despite their own mailer saying it's free of charge. When we called to dispute the charge, they first agreed to waive it. Then they called us back to let us know they actually wouldn't waive the fee.

They have a monopoly... Rates have been surging over the past 5 years greater than inflation. Issues with bulky item pickup. Website outdated. Started getting extra charges I did not authorize for extra green waste cans.

NEVER picks up our trash. My neighbors and I call every week with either no answer or false assurances that theyll pick up our trash and recycling. This is not right. We PAY for a SERVICE they refuse to provide. There should be accountability for these companies who run a city service and do an AWFUL job at it!!!!!

For five weeks recology has taken two days to empty the green bins on our block. When I called, the woman answering was short and rude. She said they’re coming tomorrow. When I asked “Why has this been for five weeks?” She said me “I can’t explain it any better than that.” When I called the afternoon of the next day, she just said, “I put in a service check” and hung up on me. We have a narrow block, and cans need to block driveways. Not sure why she’s having “a bad day” two days in a row, but hanging up is unprofessional.

I have been calling recology for the last 17 years to scheadule a large garbage pick up. You get 3 a year …….. I have never over done my pile of garbage , and keep everything together. Some things cannot go into black plastic bags. I mean if I had to chop up a body…… yes, I can be done . Regardless……. This time , they left 1/2 of the stuff that I put out . I have never left a bag review, but ahhhhhh man!!!!!!!!! Talk about lazy and bad bad job, Either the garbage man did not get some from the wife the night before ???? Or there must be a new guy that is just petty and lazy. YOU NEED TO DO BETTER!!!!!! I than called to complain, and the lady with no evidence, pictures or information……. Defended the bad job. I offered to send pictures of what was left “before and after”………. And she was not interested in looking into it??????? Horrible service Recology!!!!!!! I am a 17!year customer. My father was a janitor all his life …….. I would never go over my limit for another person to clean up . I am very disappointed. Take pictures of your junk bundle!!!!!!!!

Two recycle bins were not collected this week. Called Thursday and was promised a pick up today Friday. It’s now 6:15 pm Friday and recycle bins are still here 1014 Middle ave Menlo Park overflowing with recycled items. Recycling is now going into regular trash. My father use to say “ what are you worth if your not worth your word?” Recology multimillion dollar company can’t back up their words? What’s next? Bad service from PG&E. Wait I take that back. What’s next the water department promising clean water and not delivering? Hmmmmm

They claimed in a letter i hadnt paid my bill in 6 months and threatened to cut off my garbage service in 10 days but i had paid every month. lady on phone was totally unhelpful, refused to help in any way, told me to deal with accounting department and maybe one day they would fix the problem while replying rudely and combatively...meanwhile no garbage collection. finally had to leave message with supervisor who never replied. bad service. worst ever phone reps. [UPDATE] Supervisor got back to me in 24hours and seems to have fixed issue. Garbage was picked up. Not sure if billing issues fixed or not and was told to wait 10 days to find out.

I have ordered bulky item pickup a few times over the years. It was always a pleasant experience. Crew comes early in the morning(usually not long after regular garbage pickup) takes everything that I intended to dump and leave area very clean. Top it off that the service is free for two times a year! Thank you very much!

I work down the street and in the morning the drivers leave the facility and pull out onto the street without any care of cars on the road. Several times I have had to slam on my breaks to avoid hitting them. Today was the worst I really thought I was not going to be able to stop. They have no care in the world about anyone. I can imagine how they are in the neighborhoods. This is understandable

I pay to have the trash can put behind the office building. Every Monday, the driver comes here and left the trash can in front of the building on the street. I have called the supervisor several times. They don't care about us. I would like supervisor to talk to this driver, because he doesn't have any, he is negligent, he doesn't do the job he has This is a commercial area and we have a parking lot behind the building. The manager can't be so negligent. Leaving the trash cans in front of the building because it blocks the way to the parking lot and we are closed on Monday. We are on Woodside Road, supervisor, please fix this. do. When u solve 8t i change my review

I don't know which company is worse, Recology or Coast to Coast Financial Solutions (CCFS)! I got a letter from CCFS asking to pay a closing garbage bill from a year ago, which I have always wanted to pay (spoke to a Carmen from Recology last year and got even emails exchanged with her as proof requesting the final invoice); however, I never received it. Because this Carmen did not do her work, I ended up with CCFS. The other members of Recology's customer service team don't even care that you want to pay, they won't help or listen either, they'll only blame the mail service. One word to describe customer service in both companies = mediocre. CCFS's customer service team won't help you either: I called several times but got disconnected yesterday, when I finally got to spoke to a Daniella; however, it did not help much. Be aware that you can never dispute their claims (you can try but you'll waste your time because you'll never receive any response back from them and they do not give an honest opportunity to dispute and provide proof), either you pay or they'll increase the unpaid amount. And I agree with other reviews on the fact that CCFS works with an obsolete system, they have no problem taking your credit card payment info over the phone but requesting a confirmation email/letter or evidence on the payment you have made is something they consider outrageous. They won't send anything that proves you have paid.

I scheduled a bulky item pickup almost 3 weeks ago. It wasn't picked up. We called and told them and they said the truck team said nothing was put out (we put it out the day before- it was a massive pile of trash, they couldn't have missed it). They rescheduled us for the next week. No pickup again. I've now been in a 3-day back and forth email negotiation with their reps. They insinuated I was being dishonest about scheduling the pickups. They did not pick up the trash until I cited the exact date and time of my phone calls, asked them to refer to their recorded customer service calls, and sent them time-stamped photo evidence of the trash being placed on the street well ahead of the original scheduled pickup (thank goodness the trash happened to be in the background of a photo I took 3 weeks ago). Discourteous and incompetent. Make sure you photograph your trash when you take it out, folks!!!

Spoke to Monique today about some confusion regarding bulk trash pickup policy. She did not take my questions well and started yelling at me and would not stop yelling at me for questioning her. It was a very stressful phone call and I felt shaken up afterwards.

Year in and year out, our garbage, yard waste, and recycling gets picked up. The bulky item pick up twice a year is very well done, as is the toxic item drop off at their transfer station. When little things go wrong and need to be dealt with, their employees are responsive and kind.

This was my first time visiting the Recology facility. I had to drop off some leftover household paint to be recycled. I tried calling several paint stores since they should take old pain for recycling. But most of the paint stores I called told me that their recycle bins were full and that they wouldn't accept any more cans (which was very frustrating for me ). I called Home Depot (where I actually bought some of the paint) and they basically said, "we don't do paint recycling"). So I called Recology and they were happy to take my leftover paint. They accept up to 10 gallons per day. When I arrived, an attendant wheeled a cart over to my car and I unloaded my used cans. It was a quick and easy experience and now I know where to go in the future.

They replaced the damaged dumpster in an exceptional time. The manager Greg returned my phone call right away. The office staff was very helpful also. I was very happy with the overall customer service. I give them 5 stars.

This review is for the Transfer Station that is a large building to dump construction, demolition, and plant/gardening waste. The Recology bulk pickup from your curb pickup does not take construction or demolition waste, for example if demolishing an old bathroom. So need to load it up and bring it here. First you queue in a line of cars and trucks for a worker to check what you have and charge you. For 1 cubic yard, it was $54. After you pay this person, you’re directed to a large building full of trash where you unload your stuff and try to get out as soon as you can. There’s a spray mister in there that keeps the dust down, but… Courteous and helpful staff.

They missed picking up my garbage three times in 2 months. I had to call in every time to request a reschedule of pickup. After I filed several complaints every time they missed it, they are deliberately not picking up my carts now. They just drove by my house straightly (which is completely caught by our surveillance camera). Afterwards, they make up various kinds of excuse for not picking up, e.g. the front side of my cart is not EXACTLY touching the road (despite that I put the carts against the curb). What can I do here? Is hiring a lawyer to sue them the only way to get them DO THEIR JOB?!!!

Have been calling Recology to just put a number on the bin. I've called 3 times and left 1 voicemail. In spite of it, they drop a new (not literally new) bin, again without a number. I stay in an apartment and everyone's bin has their apartment number so that when each resident keeps their bin in, they know which is theirs. The representative states "you can paint the number on your own". I have to buy paint and a brush to do the job which they are supposed to do? Every time I'm promised that the number will be put on the bin and every time it's been a failure. My issue is not resolved yet. Will call again tomorrow. Worst customer service ever!

The Recology online website service request does not work. I put in an online request 3 months ago to downsize our service from 64 gallons to 32 Gallons. I received a confirmation email back. 3 months later i still have the 64 gallon container and bills for 64 gallon containers. I called them, they acknowledged that I did put in the online service change request, but that I would still have to pay for the 64 gallon service.

I put the car oil next to the blue bin inside of our residential area (we don’t take the blue bins to the curbside), but the driver did not pick it up. I called to the recology and was told that I need to take it to the curbside for a free pick-up. I took it to the curbside, but some of our neighbors moved it, and the oil was not collected on that day. I called again to the recology and was told that the oil needs to be on the curbside next Wednesday when the trash is picked up, so I placed it there. The driver did not take it again on Wednesday. I called again, and was told that it needs to be placed by the blue bins inside the residential area, not on the curbside!!! I inquired about scheduling a free pick up, and I was told no, the pick up is not free. The lady told me she would put a note for the driver to collect on on Wednesday. The driver did not pick it up today. It is all very unprofessional for people at the recology give me contradictory information and don’t do their duties.

Who thinks of reviewing their recology center? Generally only those who might have a gripe. On the other hand, I feel I owe it to them to comment on how easy and friendly they have been to work with, whether calling to schedule a bulk pickup or dropping off at the dump or recycling center. Have never had to wait more than a minute when calling, and always had a friendly person helping on the line. Not many places one can say that about.

For Construction debris good prices. It could be better but they know the best. $40 per cubic yard (May 2018).
