They know what they're doing. Everyone I talked to there has been friendly while keeping it real about the abysmal state of my car. No upselling. You can request appointments on the website, but make sure to wait for them to confirm your appointment--the automated email you get after requesting an appointment isn't a confirmation.
One evening my car just suddenly won't start. Luckily I was just one block away from M & R. When I walked to their shop, they actually just closed. But the gentleman decided to helped me anyway. We walked one block and he helped me started my car. I can't emphasize how grateful I am. Thank you!
They fixed exactly what I asked them to and didn't try to upsell me on a bunch of bullshit. Henry was very friendly, and the service was quick. I'll be back for any of my car's needs.
I sent my daughters car to M&R, and couldn't be happier. The gentleman there was very thorough which made it easy for my daughter and I. The price was extremely reasonable for the amount of work. Will definitely will be returning.
Had a good experience with this neighborhood repair shop. Even though car repairs are never cheap, they charged a fair price and didn't try to upsell me on a bunch of additional things like the dealership does. Fast turnaround and friendly staff!
This is the best auto shop around! I always go here for smog checks and they can get me in and out quickly. Last time I needed new windshield wiper blades for my Mini Cooper and they replaced them on the spot with no labor charge. These guys are super nice and helpful…highly recommend!
We’re relatively new to this place, maybe a year since our first visit. In the last two months we’ve taken our “old” Subarus’ for serious maintenance. Both purchased brand new (single owner) 1998, 250,000 miles and 2009, 195,000 miles. They are professional, knowledgeable and helpful.
Excellent customer service! Needed a new timing belt.Was from out of town, Had spouse at Stanford hospital coming out. Finished the job in one day, able to make it home 3 hours away without any problems. Even picked me up at my hotel! I recommend this place to anyone who will listen. I was making a delivery in Menlo Park and my sprinter van shredded it's serpentine belt. There were no sprinter shops so I called a few shops and these guys were willing to take a look at it. Their initial fix did not solve the problem and it shredded another belt. They persevered, fixed it properly, and charged a fair price for the repair. The belt that shredded was under warranty buy them and I appreciated that. Good guys.
Can't say enough about the M&R team. Been taking our cars to them for 15 years, and so have our family members. Stuart and Henry are the most decent, hard-working, all-around good guys you'll ever meet. To be able to trust someone to diagnose and fix your car in an honest, professional, timely manner is invaluable. I am grateful they are in my town and highly recommend them to everyone!
Henry is my hero. I just received shipment from CT to CA of my car of 36 years and I ran into a problem immediately. The secondary safety latch on my 1961 Porsche 356 Roadster was defective. The front hood would pop up at high speeds of after hitting a bump. I was so concerned that the lid would fly off and hit the windshield and driver (me!). When I spoke this morning to Henry, the owner of M & R, he said he was quite busy and going on vacation next week, but he would try to squeeze me in today. At noon he called and by 1pm all was fixed. He did not charge me for the service. He has my loyalty forever.
I have been using M&R for all my car needs for almost ten years. The reason I like them is because they are expert in what they do, they are conscientious about my budget and they are always on time. I recommend M&R to everyone.

I've been getting my car serviced at this shop for a few years, and my family has been going for longer. Ronaldo is always a pleasure to work with, he's super friendly and gives regular and clear updates and options if you're waiting to hear what's going on with your car. They've helped me with a lot of things - oil changes, brake installs, replacing belts, you name it! It's super easy making appointments, and they are prompt and efficient when I drop my car off there. I appreciate their attention to detail to keep my car running and in great shape hopefully well beyond the 122k miles it has on it now. Their wifi has come in handy a couple times for me in the past when I needed to wait a little bit longer before picking up my car - I was able to get some work done in their lobby. Helpful all around!

They are quick, skilled, knowledgeable, and honest. We’re bringing both cars here for service now and also letting my extended family know about this wonderful place. It’s great that they service European, Domestic, and Asian cars too. You just can’t beat the excellent service and prices. I just had the front brakes and radiator replaced and it was half the price of the nearby dealer.
M&R auto went above and beyond during the COVID shutdown. They picked up the car for a no-contact checkup, and they were incredibly honest and generous. They treated us like family and made sure the car was fixed and safe -- they demonstrated such good service and true kindness that it made my mom cry!
Ronaldo was so nice!! They were so fast and efficient. I was out in 2 hours. They ordered me a part for $400 but came back and said they weren’t going to charge me because I ended up not needing it. I thought that was very honorable and honest. I will always come back here. Great experience!
Absolutely fantastic service. No matter what your automotive needs, M&R should be your ONLY solution. I have taken 2 cars there for service - and I was "STRONGLY ADVISED" to save my money with one of the cars as the expense of keeping that on the road was going to cost more than purchasing a more reliable vehicle.
As a single woman car problems are unnerving and having M&R on my side is so fantastic! I know I'm in a safe vehicle, and I know every dollar I spend there keeps me safe.

I went here because my engine light was on and the service I received was superb. I didn't even get anything fixed, but Renaldo's assistance was invaluable. I was pretty naive with the process, but he took his time to explain what was needed and even suggested cheaper shops for me to get my car looked at. Then took it a step further and called to make sure I'll get a good deal where I was going. I ended up returning the next day to get my Smog check, but I know that if I need to get my car checked out and fixed. M&R Automotive will be my first stop. Thank you.
I would never bring my car anywhere else! The most honest people I've ever met. Manager alerts me to things that will "probably" be a problem eventually, but never forces me to take action. Just an honest heads up.
This past week, I took my car in to check a check engine light. They found nothing wrong, so they charged nothing for it. I'm sure many would have. M&R will have my business for a long time!

The reason for making the trek is simple: I fully trust these guys. No swindling, no bait and switch, no upsells, no nothing besides the honest truth.
And on top of that, he also happens to be just about the nicest guy I have ever met. In fact, everyone I have interacted with in the shop has been nothing less than genuinely helpful.
Before M & R, I would dread having to bring my car into a mechanic as I imagine most people do. But since I started coming here, stopping by every few months is something I look forward to. Kind of like those weird people that actually enjoy going to the dentist....
Another plus side is that there are a bunch of good restaurants and coffee shops a few minutes walk away to grab a bite to eat or sit down to work for the day while you wait.

I trust M & R completely! They take great care of my car so I never have to worry. They helped me get the most out of my previous 20-year-old car (often checking it with no charge), and now that the warranty is done I am glad to be able to bring my new car in. (I was never completely comfortable with the included service at the dealer where I bought it.)
I prefer to know my mechanics, Henry and Stuart - and have them know my car. They are smart, thoughtful, honest. And the place is spotless, which shows how much care they take of everything!
Dennis was friendly and informative, as usual and the mechanic completed the Smog Check in record time. Have brought both mine and my wife's car to M&R for other maintenance as well with better than expected results and plan to use their services for any repair work which I cannot do myself. These guys are good ... very good (not to mention, AAA certified).
I have been going to M&R for over 30 years. Obviously I am satisfied with the quality and care they bring to their business. Over the years they have serviced sports cars, large SUV, a ford pickup, and multiple Mercedes. My son in San Carlos has been using them for many years now also. Can't think of a single repair that was not done correctly the first time - no repeat visits for the same ailment. Use them exclusively unless I need to go to the dealer for a recall service.
