I just called the Daly City store to ask about a battery warranty and what steps I needed to take, since I’ve never gone through this process before. I purchased the battery about two months ago, and when I tried to start my car before Christmas, it was completely dead. Attempting to jump it didn’t work—the jump starter didn’t even register that a battery was connected.
Before I could finish explaining the situation or ask whether I needed to bring the battery in or tow the car to the store, the associate cut me off and immediately spoke to me in a condescending, aggressive tone. He insisted the battery just needed to be charged and lectured me about not letting a car sit, even after I explained it had only been sitting for three days (I was on a work trip). He then stated that he doesn’t “just give out free batteries,” which was both unprofessional and insulting.
At no point did I ask for a free battery. I called specifically to understand the warranty process and find out what I should do next. Instead of offering help or even listening, the associate made me feel like I was trying to scam the store and wasting his time. Even if the issue ends up being related to my car, there is no excuse for accusing a customer or speaking to them with such disrespect.
This interaction left me extremely frustrated and disappointed. Basic customer service requires listening and explaining the process—not talking down to someone who is simply asking for help.Dec 30, 2025 -

As I was waiting for my wife buying at Goldilocks, I decided to shop in AutoZones Daly City for car miscellaneous. I was happy to see what I need a double cup holder a total of $5.99 after discount
As I was in line to pay, a Spanish elder man employee is in the cashier. He was speaking Spanish to a customer, which seems to me is his close friend. He pointed to me with his finger to come forward & pay. He scan my items very fast & said to me $5.99. So I pulled up my credit card & hit it. he didn’t give me the receipt so I insisted. I didn’t mind, but it’s always my habit to request for the receipt. After I walked from the door my Capital One credit card informed me that I purchased $90.00?! I went back immediately to another person in the counter & demanded a refund. But that person can’t do refund, because I purchased it. I insisted because I honestly didn’t purchased the electronic item. And I knew the fact that the person who processed my receipt was looking while I was complaining. I feel in my thoughts that guy padded the amounts add an item to my receipt to credit card. He came & refunded immediately without asking the matters. Victoria and Daniel went absolutely above and beyond during my recent visit to AutoZone. As someone who doesn’t know much about cars, I really appreciated how kind, patient, and considerate they were. I came in to replace a washer nozzle that had stopped working and to swap the battery in my key fob. Not only did they help me find the right parts, but they also replaced the battery and reprogrammed the fob so everything worked before I left. I walked in expecting to feel lost and judged, but thanks to Victoria and Daniel, I left feeling accomplished and empowered. Thank you both!

Carlos the old guy is very rude , he should’ve been retired . At this age people normally can not handle customer service properly I can understand but this guy goes to fight when I ask a part , later after he check the system and found I was right he was not even sorry for his behavior .

First time visitor and Soooo thankful I chose this shop! I was helped by Brando and Victoria and had the best experience. I wasn’t ready for my car battery to die on me today but Brando came right up to me working on my car in the parking lot and offered his help and he went above and beyond helping me troubleshoot things until I was safely on my way. Victoria came out to ensure everything was safe and I was good to go. It was their kindness I really needed today and they more than gave it. Thank you both so so much!

Good experiences at this particular auto zone. Usually have what I need and I get in and out fairly quickly. I did have an issue with a dead battery im which they were unable to help me- so I ended up getting the support I needed at O'Reilly.

Good customer service. I was lost trying to find the correct wipers for my car on my own and took me a while to find since I don’t know nothing about cars.but then Oscar approached me and asked if he can help me. He did. And I even went out to my car to install them for me. Thank you Auto Zone and Oscar for such nice gesture to help me after I paid. It was very nice.

Was looking for a replacement taillight bulb and the clerk (a young lady) was very helpful and pleasant and went in the back room to locate the correct bulb with a smile. Not very common nowadays.

I had a battery emergency and needed to buy one, so I asked if they could help me with the installation since I don’t know how to do it myself, and I also asked about the installation cost. They told me they don’t install batteries, so I decided to go to O’Reilly instead. They gave me excellent service and kindly installed it for me.

I showed up at 7:40 last Sunday, in need of a new battery. Joseph totally took care of me, took out the old one for recycling, installed the new one and even added a clip to hold it in place better. Absolutely brilliant customer service! Thanks Joseph!

I just wanted to thank Joseph at this location. I came in this evening to get a new battery and he helped me right away with the purchase and install. Joseph even had a break planned, but stopped to help me do a perfect battery installation, and then he even helped me test the alternator right after to pinpoint any possible issues . Thank you Joseph and everyone here! Awesome customer service and I know where to go next time! Recommend Joseph and this location 100%!

After spending almost two hours at the San Francisco location I’m so happy they sent me to the Daly City location. I was frustrated because I had to pay out of pocket on items that I had a warranty on but SF was unable to locate the warranty for whatever reason. I get to Daly City and staff member Joey pulled it up in seconds. There was a lot of reasons as to why I would have had to go back to the SF to make the return but Joey and Carlos were able to find a solution within minutes and helped me avoid what would have been my 3rd trip back to AutoZone in the same day. Joey never got frustrated once with the entire situation and offered multiple solutions which assured me not having to go back to the SF location . With the help of Carlos they were able to successfully reach out to the SF location, refund me the money on the items that I had purchased from the SF location and swap me the items listed on my warranty. During the situation the other two staff members were also very polite and helped make light of the situation. I appreciate Joey and the rest of the team for their quick thinking, problem solving and overall customer service. Thank you Joey for not brushing off my situation and seeing the problem to the end!

Carlos (the Manager) is very professional and is always there to assist this is why I shop at this auto zone rather than shop O'Reilly's in Pacifica. The associates are very helpful you can see they are very customer oriented. This is a reflection of their Manager. 5 stars.

UPDATE (9/16): I contacted the website in Autozone's reply, so I thought I'd update my original post. Even after noting that they wanted to make things "right," they are still not holding themselves accountable. I wish I could give less than one star at this point.
This was their response: "Thank you for taking the time to contact AutoZone. Please be informed that we are unable to escalate this matter. You may contact the third-party delivery carrier to dispute charges and inquiries. We truly apologize for the inconvenience regarding this driver."
There are a few problems with this, first and foremost that I DID NOT HIRE the driver - Autozone did. This driver is a third-party agent of the company who they are responsible for. To put the onus on me as the consumer to file a complaint against their third-party agent - someone they compensate - is unbelievable. And even if I was inclined to file a complaint against the driver, I can't. I don't know who they are or who to call - I DIDN'T HIRE THEM.
I am absolutely flabbergasted at Autozone's refusal to take any responsibility for this missing merchandise. I am not sure what liability they think I have - the order was delivered to the wrong house - but this post started with a warning about same-day delivery. But after the collective shirking of responsibility by their customer service reps, I think customers should think twice about shopping at Autozone. Full stop.

Watch out for same day delivery - Autozone uses Uber to deliver their parts and there is no accountability for them. In fact, Autozone puts more faith in these drivers than their customers.
In my case, I ordered a car battery for same day delivery - the battery in my car had failed - and it was never delivered. I called Autozone customer service and they provided a photo of the delivery. However, the picture was of the wrong stairwell! I walked my block and found that the stairwell belonged to a neighbor five doors down, and they hadn’t seen the battery. This is unsurprising because I could tell from the picture that the battery was left on the third step, not up by the front door; I live in SF, so a battery near the sidewalk is probably going to walk away.
I sent the customer service agents - yes, I spoke to two - pictures of both my front stairs and my neighbors, which are clearly different (note: the delivery driver also told the rep that he left the battery on a stairwell with white railing; mine are black). Included photos.
It was so obvious that the driver delivered to the wrong address and Autozone’s response was “call your credit card company.” What kind of response is that?? I’ve been shopping at Autozone since I got my first car over twenty years ago. It’s sad that this happened. Probably going to start shopping elsewhere.Sep 16, 2024 -

only one guy gives you a good service. The others ones should stay in home ..unless they are the owner..so they ran the business the way he wants...every time y try my best to be nice but is imposible You ask them a question and they answer I don't know and they act as if by force they are there working... I even think a lot before going shopping because I don't know who will be there and how they will tend to me... since out of all of them there is only one adult person who speaks Spanish He is the only one who tells and whoever seems to enjoy his work, they should give him a salary bonus....

I came in to buy a headlight for my car. Of course, I had no idea how to install it! But once I had made my purchase, I was asked if I would like to have it installed. Denise cheerfully and skillfully installed it within 15 minutes. There was no extra charge either. From the moment I walked into the store, everyone was helpful. This was my first time at AutoZone and I will go there for all my automotive needs. The staff was kind and most knowledgeable! Thanks!

Thanks so much! Saved me so much $, by following associates advice; performing free diagnoses, this once the issues were revealed , (and with a a bit of encouragement from store associates) I opted towards performing the repairs that I felt confident to engage mine self, I am glad to confirm they were successful.I am very relieved I chose this specific auto supply store, to tend to my needs, and I am so lucky to have been advised by such helpful and thoughtful bunch of associates.
** To Jerrod, Cohen and Jose **; you all completely and positively changed my impression and outlook towards how helpful the Auto Zone brand store , could be, because no other has been, in my experience.
