My son purchased a 2015 WRX STI Subaru from Justin at A & J Auto Group in January. Justin promised that the vehicle was in great condition and that the vehicle had new head gaskets, new timing belt and idlers and tensioner, new clutch kit which includes a pressure plate, friction plate, pilot bearing and throw out bearing. He stated in text as well that the AVC gears were serviced with upgraded pins. I drove this vehicle a few weeks after the purchase and the clutch was shot. My son, being fairly new to manual vehicles, didn't know how clutches on sports cars are supposed to feel and was told by Justin that the clutch was performing properly for that vehicle. This is a lie and totally unacceptable. The clutch was barely shifting and was putting off a burning smell when used. My son took it to a local shop, since the dealership he purchased the car from was so far away, and the clutch kit that was supposedly new had to be completely replaced. This is after barely driving the vehicle at all. The new shop stated there is no way to burn out that clutch in the amount of time that my son had the vehicle and the evidence shows that it had not been replaced. They even stated they would speak to Justin concerning this to which Justin refused to communicate with the shop.
Two different mechanic shops stated that it is not possible that the head gasket had been replaced recently and there is silicone all over the valve gaskets, which is a no no. Any reputable mechanic should know this. There are oil leaks all over this engine, which is a possible fire hazard and that is the least of the worries. The emission system keeps failing, which is illegal to sell a vehicle with emission problems in California. So, I can only assume this vehicle was rigged to pass inspection until an unsuspecting 20-year-old enticed by a shiny sports car came along. And then a slick talking salesman sold him the piece of crap car to get it off his lot.
Justin "taught" my son how to drive this car, befriending him and making him believe that he could be trusted. Justin went on over an hour or more “test” drive with my son and told him if there were ever any issues to contact him and Justin would help him get the car fixed. SO, I called Justin up. I told him the issues that we are having. He told me that my son messed up the car and unequivocally there is no way that he is doing anything to assist. My son purchased the car at the end of January. It is now mid-July. He has driven the car less than 20 times. Most of those months it has been in the shop for various problems. Including having almost no brake pads and damaged rotators when sold to him. We have had Midas and other shops swear and be willing to swear that this car was sold to him this way. Please DO NOT trust Justin or this auto dealer. They will lie to get any vehicle out the door. I hope they sleep well at night on the commission that they made from an unsuspecting young man. If they had any morals at all they would reach out to my son to make this right. My reviews may keep getting taken down, but I will not stop telling the truth and reposting. Hopefully, they will choose to do the right thing so that this doesn’t have to progress to the next level with the Better Business Bureau, the California Air Resources Board, small claims court, or whatever other entity would find interest in the dealings that A & J Auto Group might be involved in.
I brought a 2017 Santa Fe here, paid in full. Not even 2 full months later my car dies on the highway at 12am , sputtering to get to the shoulder as cars drive pass; decided to take the street for a calmer and slower route. Then car then shuts off completely and won’t start again. I tow it to a mechanic who says it has a locked engine. I call the dealer, and before I could ask “can I tow it you you to have your mechanic verify” he says before I can “well I don’t know what to tell you” that says enough about the dealer.
update: starter also went out on this car, and also having key issues. was only given 1 key after buying the car in full, they will not help me replace the key either. they're ducking my calls and not calling back.
Beware, these are deffective cars, they will lie about the condition of the car and fix it to sell it. My car had the check engine light on within two days. They will lie to your face and sell you something you will regret.
Justin was SO helpful, SO knowledgeable, and really just made this experience way better. Would 100% recommend over dealing with a larger soulless dealership that takes hours to tell you the car isn't actually ready or having no real knowledgeable of the services done on it. I would recommend A&J Auto Group to anyone looking for a vehicle in the area that they can help you with. No hidden fees or secret add-ons amping up the price, very transparent and worth every minute.
They handle business very well. I purchased a return policy and had to return a car due to some issues but Dave put himself in my shoes and waved some of the fees which was very helpful for my situation. I thought he did a good job handling things and appreciated his help

Easiest car buying experience. The guys were friendly and helped get me out of there as fast as possible despite the paperwork that normally accompanies a buy. I was given quick comprehensive explanations of the contract as we went through it all. Its a small place but the guys are friendly. They even gave my car a quick surface wash before I left to make it extra shiny. Overall experience was a pleasure.

My husband and I bought a used suv from them. They are really friendly and help you out with any questions you have. Dave was our sales person and he was kind and outgoing he treated us with respect. Unfortunately we had some mechanical problems with the car and it's totally understandable to happen from a used car good thing Dave and the owner helped us and took care of us helped us fixed. I recommend them when looking to buy used cars.
Great and honest people.(I was treated with so much respect). I must say everyone here has great patients and work Mind set, I was in and out very fast. These guys treat you like you matter and not like they want your money “like many Car salesman” in fact it was the complete opposite. You will feel like you made a friend and someone you can trust. The owner was not too friendly over the phone and Kevin the only salesman was not there twice when i stopped by during business hours.... Also the cars are overpriced but in decent condition. High mileage though
