Had tire sensor changed out because tire pressure light was on , Pep Boys called and told me car was done and when I got the car the tire pressure light was still on in my car . Technician told me to drive it and light will turn off so I drove it for a day and light is still on. Came back the next day durning work hour and technician that worked on my car was not there and the manager(Juan) told me to come back another day when he could have helped instead of wasting another day for me to come back. So I asked him to put back the old sensor so that I can go to another shop but he didn’t want to. Instead he wanted me to go to another shop and have them take out the sensor and replace it with another one and for me to bring back the sensor to his shop to get a refund.
Oscar was the best mechanic I’ve had - he backed diagnostic claims with images and explained the urgency of each one, letting me know what to listen for to know when to replace the part. He was able to diagnose strong vibrations as motor mounts wearing and this constant whirring sound as leaves and debris in the air filter/ system. I ended up only replacing the axles, he had the parts bought and replaced in a half a day. Thanks Oscar and Pep Boys team!
Great customer service, friendly and great craftsmanship and service, on point lopez the mechanic deserves a raise and also other mechanic who assisted him with work done on my vw gti. Definitely coming back for more work on my car.
The mechanic named Lopez has helped me out a few times now. I really appreciate how every time he really puts in effort to explain what is going on with my car.
Today, I was in a hurry and he was able to do my car alignment and under an hour!!
We went in to check on the brake service and they informed us the brakes were just fine. Then asked if they could do an alignment since the tires were new. They took care of request without having to reschedule. Thanks for the honesty and service.
The people I came into contact with were very helpful and polite. The guy that looked at my car took his time explaining and showed me exactly he was talking about. I definitely recommend this place and plan on going back.
I have been a customer for 20 years at Pep Boys. Today, June 2nd, 2025, at the storefront in Costa Mesa, the manager refused to honor the price for a simple oil change.
On the website, the price for a synthetic oil change service clearly shows $75. The technician, and then the manager, quoted for $90.
They give me bs excuses that the price is after a rebate or coupon, and as shown in the screenshot from their website, that is not the case.
I will no longer be a customer there.

106 dollars for a synthetic oil change?! Rip off. I just remembered why I quit coming here. Won't be back. They charged 48$ for labor, what a joke!!! Update: He said if I wanted him to change the oil filter it "might" cost me an extra 150$ because the casing is stuck and he would have to force it so the casing might crack and have to be replaced. I've been played before homey. Either way you win. I say no don't replace it, and you still charge me for the labor. Which you DID. BUT! Had I said yes, you would've broke it on purpose in order to charge me the extra 150$ PLUS MORE LABOR. I took the damn filter home to do it myself. Why is it so hard to find honest mechanics?! Ya'll take one look at me when I walk in the door and jack up all your prices and do everything in your power to squeeze whatever cash you can out of my wallet. I might be a girl, but I'm not IGNORANT. P.S. I googled labor costs on an oil change and it's only 30$.
**update** I now go to Toyota of H.B. regularly and pay about 69 total after taxes. I just had one on 4/12/25 $64.95 for SYNTHETIC!
Brought in my car on the weekend for a quick check engine light diagnosis and when i arrived, their lot was empty with 2 "mechanics" sitting down doing nothing and refused to do a free check engine even though its advertised on their site everywhere anyways the so called mechanic stated that he would charge me 110 to give me the diagnosis. this is ridiculous stay empty and hopefully out of business soon thankfully theres another shop down the street.

The gentleman at the front desk was very polite and cordial. Only thing I can say is that they told me the car would be ready and now we're in 30 minutes and it took much longer that was my only negative
Took my car in again to get my tire patched n Lopez was nice enough to explain that I needed a new one instead. He didn't pressure me to buy all 4 like the last company I took it too get looked at. He changed it n got me on my way in no time. Thanks Pep boys for hiring someone who knows what they r doing n has manners n patience to explain what's needed.
Brought my car in because my battery died and I had it replaced here in December 2023 so it was still under warranty. Check engine light was on so I had them look into it. Lopez said it was due to low oil and that solenoids needed to be replaced. My car has an ongoing oil issue that three other shops have not been able to fix. I authorized an oil change and replacement of the solenoids. Then Lopez says there might be an issue with the timing belt. So I authorized them to look at that a replace it, even though I have record of it being replaced in 2020. Thought he was honest and trying to help figure out my car problems but then another issue arose when he looked at the timing belt. So I told him to put everything back together. Paid $982 for the work (timing belt not replaced) and brought it home Friday. Saturday I checked the dipstick and no oil. Hmmm. No oil and it’s been less than 24 hours. Called and Augustine said they did the oil change and all I could do was bring it in so they could check it and “see what to do next.” Lol. I want my money back for the oil change charge since you guys clearly did not change my oil. Nope, all I was told to do was bring it back….
Definitely don’t recommend them. Be careful with this crew.
Amazing service! Even though they were short staffed they patched up my tire before the end of the day. Very helpful staff. A shout out to Lopez for staying to fix my tire even though he was about to clock out for the day.
This is my second time coming to this location and this time I was helped by a gentleman by the name of Nghi. Once again, they got my fleet vehicle done in record time! I was in need of an oil change and 2 tires to be replaced. They were able to handle all of this in just 3hrs, while I was able to go handle errands around town. They got the approval from said fleet company quickly and handle all services needed along with a thorough 120 point vehicle inspection. Often times than not, other locations have held my vehicle for up to 2-3 days just to get approval and handle the services needed.. This location has been my GO-TO for all of 2024! Nghi was very helpful, very knowledgeable of all my questions and very quick with the services they provided.
Would recommend this location heavily to all vehicle owners!!!
I scheduled an appointment for an oil change and tire rotation. I was pleasantly surprised the lobby and waiting area were clean and renovated since my last visit. The employee a the front desk was very nice and prompt and the estimated time for service was spot on. I was able to work in the waiting area with the free WIFI and the service was great.
I recently took my vehicle to Pep Boys for a tire alignment, and I had the pleasure of working with Lopez. It was clear he was knowledgeable about his work, and he patiently answered all my questions, which put my mind at ease.
The alignment work itself was done efficiently. Lopez was thorough and meticulous, ensuring that every detail was addressed. He performed a comprehensive inspection before proceeding with the alignment, which I greatly appreciated. I only post reviews of really good or really bad. Mediocre reviews don't justify the time but I would rate this Pepboys as 5-star. The shop manager Augustin provided excellent customer service. I own a car with many after market parts and the labor was much more intensive for general fluid changes. The labor was more extensive than a stock vehicle but he honored the quoted price. It's hard to find an honest mechanic but this location did me good. I've had many cars and many mechanics but Pepboys have generally been straight forward and the Westminster location is no exception.
Look, as someone who actively reads reviews before I try anything, I was a little worried with some of the negative ones for this location. However, there's a reason they also have great reviews! Lopez did an amazing job, I got an oil change and alignment done that my car desperately needed and not once did he try to oversell anything like lots of shops do. He was open and communicated everything to me and I felt like the prices were worth the service. I definitely will be coming back for my future vehicle needs. Great job Lopez, and great job Pep Boys!
It was the worst job ever. I went to have my car aligned and it still pulls to the left like it did before I asked them to balance the front tires and the tire still vibrate. It’s like they didn’t do anything at all and not only that I have now an ABS light and a TCS off light are on and they obviously like didn’t hook wires back up or something. I’m not sure and I actually I’m scared to take it back for fear that they will make it even worse.
Whatever you do don’t take it to the Pep Boys and Westminster. It’s the worst.

Very bad treatment for the service employee. Name . ( C..n) , I waited a long time. Note that I am on time. The car was parked in an unsafe place and on the road and illegal. The glass of the front door was left open. The way the employee talked to me is not nice and there is no respect
