I had minor damage after my car lockout service (my own cheap car's fault), and I don't think I've ever had a better customer service experience in getting the damage repair resolved. I don't often review, but this owner earned it in my eyes.
Andy came to our rescue in Big Sur when our radiator went bad. We were so thankful for his great timing, kind personality and professional towing. In an uncertain situation he made us feel safe and comfortable. Thank you Andy for saving our hiking weekend!
Andy was so amazing! We were stuck in Big Sur in the rain and he picked us and the car up very promptly. Then we had a lovely drive to Seaside as he told us all about the area. Thank you so much for your help!!
I mean, THE nicest guy ever. He towed me to the gas station. Our encounter was sooo pleasant. I don't want to be broke down ever but if I am this is the first guy I'm going to call

During a recent trip to Carmel, the brakes on my Ford F350 went out - COMPLETELY - while on the 17 Mile Drive. I was able to limp down to a hotel (Carmel Mission Inn) by driving very slow, down shifting, and letting the diesel engine control my stopping. When we arrived, we discovered the fully hydraulic system had failed and all brake fluid was on the ground. Called AAA.
Unfortunately, Carmel Towing and Garage needed their larger truck to tow us back to Northern California and our mechanic, and it was out all day. But talking with Andy several times, he assured me there would be no issues the next morning, and there weren't.
Throughout it all, Andy really wanted to make sure our family had a good experience in town, and made sure we got a rental from the airport. He said, "Just go out for dinner, have a drink, relax -- we'll get your truck home in the morning!"
On time service, and helpful, empathetic customer service, is rare these days. Thankful to Carmel Towing, Andy Hill, and his team!
Predatory towing charges, $500 to get my car out of the lot after only a few hours on top of the $160 police release form, even though my car was parked in a proper space in a parking lot with no signage indicating otherwise. They were relatively nice and understanding all things considered, but the rates are absolutely predatory, so I have to give 1 star. And yes, I have "verified the company information to ensure the correct business is getting the review and feedback", so don't give me that.
I had a great experience with Carmel Towing! I drove my car up north for a vacation, and after parking it, I noticed that there was something leaking under my car and a burnt smell. I called them, and they were able to locate where I was, get to me quickly and right before closing, and help me with my car. Toni and the caller I spoke to on the phone were both very kind!
****Update as of 6/27/25. The owner just posted the snarky reply below saying that I don’t know what company I am reviewing. In order to confirm that this is, in fact, the correct company I have added pictures to this review from the day of the event. As you can see, it is the yellow truck from this company, Carmel Towing, with their phone number on the side. Hopefully the reply below speaks for itself and reiterates the need for caution when dealing with this company. Also you will see that they posted the same response on the other one-star reviews below.***
Beware of price gouging. I had Carmel Towing help me with a lockout, and even though I was only 15 minutes from their shop, they charged me $300 to unlock my vehicle. It was a non-emergency, but since I was out of cell phone range, I had to have the police call it in. When I spoke to the owner, he stated that the call wasn’t expedited but that they simply charge that much when the police make the call. He readily charged me 3x the regular rate although it did not cause any inconvenience to his business. Customer service was lacking and there was no attempt to understand the human side of the situation. If you’re in a pinch, call a different company.
*I also found Better Business Bureau complaints in this business for similar practices.
Just had my dad's car breakdown possibly for food now. Couldn't accelerate on the freeway past 30 so we pulled out to a chevron. Randy came by in no time to help us get home, great interaction with Randy as well! Thanks for the assistance!
Received road assistance from Ali for a busted off road tire. Went above and beyond to ensure that I know what I need to do next time it happens and offered excellent recommendations.
Terrible company do not trust in them they are scammers they ask for my ID and after that they ask me for registration that’s it was wear for my because AAA never ask you for registration there not police I give him my registration when I turn around I see him taking pictures of all my documents I asked him why you taking pictures of all my documents and social security and he said because it look that you just buy the car I told him I just buy the car why you taking pictures really don’t recommend this company is trash scammers
This place is the worst. They can’t do their job correctly. They always come up with a excuse when I call my insurance they were supposed to pay for all of it and then when the tow truck got here, they had this outrageous amount for me to pay When my insurance was supposed to pay for 90% of the price. DO NOT WAIST YOUR TIME WITH THEM. They try to take advantage of all the people
TERRIBLE TOW COMPANY! currently still have the driver riding around and harassing me. this is crazy tbh, AAA is supposed to help, not cause more stress. honestly LA TOW is better and they actually have the proper equipment to help! RUN FROM THEM! they’re trash.
Andy was a life saver! Me and my mom were on a long road trip from Texas en route to Seattle. And our car wouldn’t start in Carmel-by-the-sea. He came in less than an hour, diagnosed it as the battery super quick, and got us to his repair shop to get it fixed. From my car not working to being back on our mother-daughter road trip: 2 hours.

Sent two different incredibly rude drivers that both refused to help me, left me stranded for over 4 hours and refused to complete my request without any notice
Para mi fue una muy, muy mala experiencia con esta compañía por que en primer lugar no pudieron remolcar mi carro, en segundo me hicieron esperar 2:30 horas para que después me dijeran que no podían hacerlo, que por que había un poco de tierra suelta yo creo que no las quieren ensuciar y la mujer que está en el teléfono muy cortante que ni siquiera me dejaba hablar, la verdad le doy una sola estrella por que no me deja darle menos. La verdad no la recomiendo amigos, de verdad no pierdan su tiempo con ellos.😡😡
