Among all the recycling centers in San Jose, this is the only one that has never given me any problems.

Great place. Now, Joel, both staff friendly staff willing to help and give you the best price for your product. Willing to sort it out on the cart to help you.Wow can't say enough

Unfortunately, when you sell them scrap you have to wait 3 days to collect your money if you're not a regular customer.

DRY VAN DELIVERIES I have added a few photos to help you with the process. If I confuse you, just call the office and click #4 to speak to SCALE HOUSE. They will direct you.

worst service ever tried calling operator she just hangs up your call on your face no answers and she would not pick it up again. Seriously like what was that, if this is gonna continue I am not going to do business with you guys ever!

A good place to make some money from your unwanted metals (aluminum, brass, copper, & stainless steel). It helps to have everything sorted prior to weigh-in, which makes the process that much quicker.

Quick and efficient . But not worth the low return on recycling to go there again. But I guess it's better that having to pay to dump stuff that is recyclable. Employees are great.

We have been going to Sims metal for decades and scrapping cars here. However today we had the worst experience EVER! We went to scrap a car today, and they told us they cant take it. Even though the car was completely stripped and did not have any battery, or gas. I asked for a manager and when he came he spoke very rudely. And told me get this junk out of here.I was astonished by the way they treated such a long time customer!

Been a customer for years. Steel is super high right now yet they keep paying me a pittance eventhough i have an account. What a rip off, no wonder so many people are going to other places lately.

What an abysmal business! I HAD to wait in a line of(4) customers without huge amounts of metal for 65 minutes. They only had one person to take metal. The payment takes 3 days. The place is FILTHY!!! The carts are not sanitized and there aren't many of them. DIRECTIONS to enter the facility are not clearly marked and Monterey Rd is busy so there's a danger of getting hit by fast moving ongoing traffic as you're trying to enter the appropriate gate. Its clearly not a customer friendly place. The only saving grace is the front office people are amicable. Don't go there unless you have a LOT of non steel metal to recycle.

Excellent metal recycling center: accessible even for a first-rime novice like me, convenient carts for transport and surprisingly helpful staff. I had a lot of heavy auto parts (brake, steering) and other remodeling house stuffs that weight a ton (almost!) and were relieved to find a place to recycle them rather having confine them to the polluting landfills. Finally, you get serious money helping mother nature!

Very slow to get material through scale and wasted time because according to worker theirs weight limit for certain metals about 500lbs minimum. Don't recommend at all better places other locations in San Jose.

My boyfriend has been going to Sims for years, bringing scrap metal. They stopped taking cans and bottles and now have very low scrap prices.. However there customer Service is outstanding!! Very Friendly . A very safe place. as well as fun to watch the giant CLAW at work !!!

Perfect place to go if you want to take a full truckload of metal and only get nine dollars. Best part is you’ll get a couple nails in your tires and it will cost you more than the money you got from the metal.

One of the larger recycle spots that I've been to. They are well organized and the line wait is usually 15 to 20 minutes. UPDATE! I just found out last week Aug. 2018 they no longer recycle CRV. :(

For anyone willing to build a relationship around respect with the employees, this is an excellent yard with quite decent prices.

Having to run around for paperwork I didn't even need to recycle a scraped boat. Wasted my time going here

I used this place to buy scrap items for repurposing. After I figured out where I needed to go, I had waited in the wrong line for about ten minutes, but a friendly employee pointed me in the right direction. For future reference gate six for scrap purchase. I found the scrap yard to be the cleanest and most well organized of Any I have been to. The employees were all friendly and offered assistance to load my stuff. Prices for purchase were extremely fair, and the selection was good. There does seem to be a lack of signage to point you in the right direction, but the employees were helpful in guiding you through the process. To the others mentioning rude employees or the requirement for identification, I did not experience that at all. The ID requirement is governed by the state, and the facility can be fined if they can’t prove that they checked. You can thank the tweekers for that requirement. I have spoken to managers at other facilities and frankly I’m surprised that they still operate with amount of restrictions that the state has imposed.

They watched me unload my copper into a cart and push it up to the scale. Then they interrogated me about where i got my copper and one guy even told me they were calling the cops! I said "good! get them here rite now." Extremely rude and uncivilized behavior. I thought i was in the Twilight zone. After about 5 to 10 minutes of waiting at the scale the manager (who was doing nothing and had watched me unload and witnessed this whole incident) walked over and told me i need a note from my mom saying i have permission to recycle my copper. This place is a joke.

i am trying to type this as reference for the first timers and who would read reviews before going to a scrap shop: Rates payed to me: copper: 1.67/pounds - this is better than another place i called and get a quote of $1.2 to $1.4 Aluminum: .44 this is extruded Al and not cans Iron : $.01/pounds so dont go there for iron drop off. Impressions----------------------------------------------------------------------- - working blue collar environment, noise smell a little + but surprisingly workers are on the nice side - be aware of nails and small metal parts on the parking lot, i saw some. you may get a flat tire - They will pay you 3 days later cash or mail you a check - They wont tell you how much they are buying + a detailed receipt was provided Big Minus -> they will need your fingerprint, picture, ID, and license plate. I understand people steal and sell stuff but come on do you need to really take a picture of my ID?

This place sucks! I was paid very low for clean copper and brass, I'm Very disappointed! What a rip off...never going back again.
