I called requesting assistance with an order at Florin Perkins in hopes this location could help me get in contact with someone over the phone or just fix it really quickly, assuming they share the same application for orders. The man on the phone at Zanker road provided me an email, but unfortunately I needed assistance immediately over the phone, as the order was being fulfilled tomorrow and Florin Perkins ordered the wrong material. When I expressed that to him, he told me, and I quote, “Then you can keep calling them until someone answers.” And hung up on me.
The Good:

The Bad:
Random hours. I try to combine trips by dropping off C&D Debris and picking up landscape materials. The drop off works because the landfill sticks to the posted hours, but half the time the landscape material gate is closed. Like random Saturdays, like the morning the day before Thanksgiving, like when it rains, like 3:15 pm when one Web site says 4:00 pm and the other 3:30. Plan your trips around lunchtime weekdays and ALWAYS call before you go.
Over priced landfill. Look for other options. The entrances are not label well at all. Staff is like robots. Charged 400 dollars to dump clean dirt. Granitrock, Steven's Creek Quarry are much better options. Guadalupe land fill is even worth the drive for the price.
Just got our soil and mini mulch. Super easy and affordable. Got great advice on what to use on our raised bed garden. Told the sales person what our plans were and they recommended the right soil for our veggies and the mini mulch to walk on in between the beds.

Cheaper prices than anything I have found in the bay area. Friendly service although it is a little hard to find. To clear some confusion it is on top of the hill in the landfill so when you turn into the landfill you heading the right direction.
Very friendly, off the beaten path. Don’t be intimidated coming here if you’re a DYIer, lots of trucks and whatnot, follow the signs to bypass dump scales and head up to the material yard on the hill. Pretty good selection of bark and soils, limited selection of gravel and stone. I also purchased cardboard here for sheet mulching.
the best prices, lots of options. People very helpful. I was looking for cheap filler and they pointed me to the best option. I got the class to recycled cement and asphalt for $20 per cubic yard.They also advised me on how much my truck would or would not hold! Which was very helpful. My midsize truck would only hold half a cubic yard of rock. Weight was the limitation. I could have taken one cubic yard of mulch.
The only complaint I have with Zanker is about their dump fee for soil. They charge more for soil than they do for mixed waste. If they can use it to resell it, why not charge less? Other than that, these guys are my preferred materials provider in the Bay Area.
Very friendly staff, and fair prices. Whether you need a place to take commercial waste, or you are simply looking to take extra trash put of the garage, this is the place to drop it off. Took a car load and they only charged $30. They didn't even make me go over the tire cleaner, which in some places has a reputation for tearing apart a regular vehicle's tires. Will be back!
Decent place to drop a load. They have a good recycling process to turn your trash into a usable resource. It's not cheap to dump certain items, and it's best not to mix load types. For example, if you're dropping off tree trimmings, don't add bricks to save a trip, it'll cost you.
They weigh you on the way in although it seems process are set by volume. Perhaps the weight is for their own records. You don't get weighed in the way out though. They'll measure your load with measuring tape to get the dimensions, so it's recommended you play Tetris with your load and get those dimensions down. One stray branch can mess up your price.
On the other side, if you're looking for landscaping materials, this is a good place with decent selection and good prices. They have all sorts of rocks, wood chips, etc. Are you putting in pavers? Do it right and get yourself some base material here. Pound that down and get some polymeric sand for leveling. You're putting blood and sweat into this project, do it to last.
One thing that sent me elsewhere for base materials was delivery. Big projects are tough when you don't have a truck, so it's nice to have delivery even if it's not free.
