First time here and such a great experience! Totally didn’t know what to do, but when asked the worker there James was so great- explained the process on what to do and walked me through it all. As always- I’ve got questions… and he answered them all so patiently. Thanks James for making things so easy and great! Despite a busy Saturday AM, was in/out in less than 20-30min. Love that!
Easy to use, fast service, enough bins and parking spots to sort, and EXCELLENT staff. They’re all really nice and helpful in my experience. Just make sure you know the hours because they close very promptly at those times.
Excellent service. Considering these guys deal with customers all day every day and still were very friendly, helpful, patient, and didn't have any attitude is so welcoming and refreshing for a change, esp in the early morning.
Actually, I may be the one who was inpatient and somewhat confused as to where the entrance is, where customer waiting line is, etc because the entrance is not where Google Map say it is, haha! It's actually just to the right before turning right around corner of Commercial St. Boy, that's what happened to me, because closed quarter traffic there can get pretty dangerous!
PS: After you get your receipt for the amount you are to be paid, the ATM where you get your money can sometimes get stuck, you may not get all your money owed to you, even by the coin amount, which happened to me.
And also please be careful when backing out to leave, because a pick-up truck came dashing in and almost hit me, whew!
Easy. In and out. Friendly service. At the weigh side, a lady was very friendly and helped me understand which can be accepted and can't. She did so in a friendly, easy going manner. When cashing out, a man came out and showed me how to use their cash ATM for redemption of our cans/bottles haul. He thanked me and wished me a great day.
I feel this place is scamming people out of there money. Especially now since they are giving money on debit cards. I went a week ago an was told funds would be on card once i activated it. Activated card said $0 pending to the account. Called recycling company an said they would call me back. Nothing. Called the customer service number on back of card an it would give a busy dial tone when i tried to speak to representative. Finally got threw to someone. An they were no help. Tried calling the card again to see if anything changed to the balance.. only now not even being able to do that because it says postal code is incorrect. When its the same one I've been typing in. Things are not adding up here...i don't know what's going on with this place. But just wanted to warn other's.
Great place to recycle your cans, bottles, and other random metals and objects. This place is very popular, so be prepared to see a line and plenty of cars. Best prices compared to other recyclers. Employees are hardworking and professional. They don’t take expired IDs. Make sure to sort ALL colors because they won’t do it and it’ll be turned into scrap. Bring gloves, if you want. Don’t go after a holiday as it will be extremely busy.
Went in to recycle some bottles and can today and it was entertaining.
We've been keeping our bottles and cans for awhile and believing that since the CA CRV is charged we'd get some decent money. Unfortunately that was not reality. With almost 2 barrels full of plastic bottles and a bag of aluminum cans, we left with a whopping $28.25.
CA at it's finish, making a redemption value that isn't.
Today, October 25, 2022 I went at 11am, PLEASE NEVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE THEY SCAM YOU REALLY BAD. THE CANS WEIGHTED 26.6 AND THEY ONLY PAID ME 15.6. I ASK THEM TO SHOWED THE VIDEO AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD DO IT. DON'T GO HERE. REALLY BAD SERVICE. SCAM, SCAM. PEOPLE GO TO SELL CANS AND BOTTLES AND THEY SAY IS LESS....NEVER GOING BACK.
Besides the machine never hm aving enough coins to give you exactly same change, the workers there are great. I would give more stars but some ppl are always getting short change and been that it might be cents might not say nothing. I told the guy at the scale that the machine was out of couns and showed my receipt he said come on is only 58 cents you didnt received. Multiply those times the amount of other ppl walking away because it was 25 cents to maybe 80 cents. This place is making more money . So ok nce away today i walked away as some other people -58 cents now multiply thos times maybe 4 or 6 times a month that some ppl go x all the people that go is a lotz of mula
The ATM did NOT PAY ME MY MONEY!!!! The ATM spit out 75cents (3 quarters) only for my ticket amount of $38.89. I took my receipt & 3 quarters to the scale office & told them what happened. They called me a liar & refused to pay me!!! They said they would investigate...Mgr. was never available for 3 weeks. I went back repeatedly & asked if they found the problem. Why would I go back repeatedly if I was lying about the transaction??? I DO KNOW THAT THIS ATM HAS HAD COMPUTER PROBLEMS BEFORE...NOT PAYING OUT MONEY!!!I FOUND OUT A LOT OF PEOPLE QUIT GOING HERE BECAUSE OF THE LOUSY NON-PAYING ATM. MGMT. JUST STEALS YOUR MONEY YOU EARNED THRU HARD WORK & WON'T MAKE THINGS RIGHT!!! AND DISRESPECT YOU BY CALLING YOU A LIAR!!! I'M A HOMELESS PERSON, HARD WORKING & HONEST TO A FAULT...ASK ANYONE WHO KNOWS ME. I'M GOING TO SAN JOSE METALS FROM NOW ON.
Efficiently run. Yes, the cash dispensing ATM was out of change and I lost 85¢. And yes there is a 100 lb limit and I saw someone have to give away about 6 barrels of bottles. You cannot split the load if you have a second person with you because it came in on the same vehicle. So you donate the excess or give it away without any compensation allowed.
I'd like to see the law of San Jose that said 2 people from the same household cannot drop off over 100 lbs of plastic as manager of Schnitzer said on 08/25/2020 around 11am. I'd been looking thats law online but no where to be seen. My father got in line and drop off more than 100lbs of plastic, so I took the left over plastic and got in line again as a different customer. The manager refused to take those plastic and he said base on the law of San Jose he could not take those plastic because he could break the law. I'd like to see the laws and where it's been written down.
Schnitzer Steel has amazing people that work there and are helpful; with a vast knowledge of information. I would like to point out a couple of employees, Paul Castaneda is an amazing front office weighmaster, He will answer all questions, and if he doesn't know he will find out.. He does this all with a smile and the fact he remembers returning customers. In the yard Pasqule is attentive and happy person. He always has a smile. Being a lady in a man's world, I admire the respect they show me! I will always be a customer.
Was on my way with a full truck of metals to the city clean up program but they turned me away because they require appointment this year. Tried calling around to many metal recycling places, they only want precious metals. Stumbled on to this place that I actually drive by everyday to work. I didn't really I actually get paid for my metal.
Fast very friendly people got 23 bucks for one bag of cans from somebody that gave me while I was fin handling what a blessing all aluminum didn't even have to separate ooohw
I've recycled at this place a few times and it's never been pleasant, but the last straw was when they cheated me out of at least $25 by not crediting the five barrels of carefully sorted plastic bottles I gave them, along with a couple barrels of cans and glass. My total should have been at least $40, instead of the $15 I was paid.
People hustle to get their recycling together for extra cash and it’s not right for that the employees are ripping us off! Management needs to address this situation before it gets reported .

Comercial truck entrance on right at stoplight. No signs stating so. Dont pull in to front enterance if your in a semi ... Ppl ate great. Staff is amazing.
First time being there and as for a Recycling Facility, I can say that they were very organized with the Parking, Separating, and getting in line for Processing. I definitely will go again.
Every time I brough Recycle They don't even help you to push the flat car on to the scale. They told you to do it. What a service just can't come back to this Recycle place!
