I had to call Republic Services to come empty my trash after all the other neighbors were emptied already. They came back, alright, but they came back and TOOK my trash can completely away! Two times in the last two months my landfill can was taken completely away. Now, these are cans filled (not overfilled): filled and ready to be emptied. Why would the truck come and take it away when it is obviously being used? Today, they yelled out something...I was walking out to my car in the driveway as they pulled up to empty the trashcan. I drove away, thinking the man was shouting about something else (was there another person in the truck?) or just talking loud...never thinking he'd do anything else other than what they usually do: empty my garbage. But he took it away completely. Was he angry about something? There was absolutely nothing I did wrong or caused. I don't make any trouble. ANNOYED.

They constantly miss the green waste pickup on our cul du sac. (They also often miss our recycling.) I believe we're going on 8-9 missed pickups since August. Reporting a missed pickup in the online form is utterly useless as in the years of dealing with Republic it has never once resulted in them returning. Usually it takes multiple calls to customer service to get them to come back and pick it up and sometimes (like this week) even that doesn't work. Trash day is Friday. I was told this week it would be picked up on Monday, then Wednesday, then Thursday. None of these happened. I am getting really tired of talking to people at Republic customer service who apologize profusely for the issues. They need to stop apologizing and do something about it. In regards to the "response from the owner" below, sending an email did get them to return for our yard waste once, but then a week later they missed our trash pickup. Since Oct 1st, I believe they have only successfully picked up all three containers a single week. (Lest anyone things the responses to these reviews actually have anything to do with problems being fixed.)

I live on a court and every couple of months they miss one of the cans. Pretty hard to do but they do it. This week they missed one of my cans. In fact I heard the garbage truck and went out just after the truck left the court. I called “customer relations” immediately and they said the driver was still in the area and would pick it up. Of course they didn’t and even calling everyday with a promise they would get it yielded no results. Customer relations are a bunch of liars and the company as a whole sucks. Can’t Pleasant Hill do better?

They never and I mean NEVER pick up any extra bulk trash that I schedule. I always have to call multiple times, day after day after day while a pile sits out for days or another full week. They say they'll come but don't. Customer service says they'll call me back same day but they don't. They say drivers may still come because they work until 6pm which is a big joke. They never do. They say if no one comes by 6pm call them, but their office closes at 5pm. This has been happening for years. I'm done wasting my time with this waste company. I'm never wasting my time scheduling any more pickups. I'll put my trash wherever I can find room for it now.

Extremely frustrating. Missed green waste pickup 2 straight weeks in a row, and skipped standard garbage for a week. Reported the missed pickups each time, and tried calling for multiple days in a row, sometimes waiting on hold for over an hour. Finally go ahold of someone and they said there was no way to give a credit or adjust the bill because the issues were too old.... THEN HAD THE NERVE TO INCREASE THE COST. These forced monopolies are bullshit.

Very poorly managed. Their call center and website are totally disconnected from the operations, they will assure you someone is coming to pick up but they never show up. They miss constantly pick ups and often leave trash on the ground, broken glasses. Complaining is useless because they customer service is totally disconnected from what is happening.

The garbage truck came through so went out to bring in our can and it was gone. Called to ask why they took the can and was told it may have got stuck on the arm and it took the whole can. So I asked to get a new can as we have no garbage can to put our garbage in. They told me it would be a week and that we had to just put it in bags. Hauling heavy bags to the curb when you are older is not easy. I asked to speak to a manager as I felt they made the error and should just bring us a can Was told no one I could talk to. Seriously how hard is it to bring us a replacement can when your driver took out can. Wish there were others services out there. Your company may just fr too large to provide good customer service

I called them about a free bulk pickup.I have two recliners I need picked up.They said it would have to be two separate pickups because it's two different recliners.Then she said it would be curbside pickup and we would have to put them on the curb in front of the house.We get our regular pickup in the road in the back of the house where the recliners are setting.She said it's a different truck so they would have to pick it up at the curb at the front of the house.WHY ? We are disabled and can't move them to the front of the house.Republic services are a ripoff and they discriminate against disabled people.Very dissatisfied. Gary Gerdes

Trying to close an account has been impossible. Literally 4 hours of hold time... three times, I was hung up on before anyone answered. One time, someone from their sales group picked up but said his computer "froze" and he couldn't complete. "Can I call you back in 5-10 minutes?" I waited, waited... no callback until an hour later when I was in a client call. Absolutely pathetic customer and sales service.

Seems like people only review them about bad things, so I thought I'd share a good! I called the office to schedule an additional pick up. The first time I called I wasn't prepared, but the person I spoke with was so kind and helpful. I just called back again and there was a different woman on the line. She helped me figure out exactly what I needed (which was different than I thought), and gave me the information for tree pickup. Both experiences with the office was really helpful and kind, and the guys who come pick up on our street are also always really nice.

Missed pickup. Called 3 times for 3 days. Got the same answer every time: "we will have someone there by 6pm". They never showed up. I always pay my bill on time and this is the nonsense I have to deal with. When I call back tomorrow, I'm requesting a credit, and I'm not sending Republic services another email with what you're reading now. Just stop lying and make it right!!!

This company has drivers that clearly can’t do their job in CA. Missed pick ups, leaving containers upside down or sideways, the driver who clearly sucks at their job but has enough chemistry knowledge to distinguish 100% recycling packages products from the ones that are considered contaminated! Every other week they miss pick up or the containers of the whole street are laying flat. Vet your drivers better, one would think they are driving under the influence!

I just got off the phone for the 3rd time in 4 weeks to complain about not getting the curb service I have paid for for over a dozen years. I am not physically able to bring my 3 cans up or down my driveway so I rely on this service and yet I am not getting the service. When I call I keep being told my case is being escalated and that they have records of my prior calls but it's to no avail. The company is a monopoly so I have no other place to turn. This is unconscionable.

Horrible service, frequently delayed. My garbage was missed last week, had 4 missed pick-up requests that never happened. Left a Voice message yesterday after hours and got a voice-mail today telling me my can would be picked up today and any extra bags could be left next to the can. Called around 4pm to make sure they wouldn't miss it again with the extra garbage out and the representative advised they have until 6:30pm today to pick it up. Not even 2 minutes later I get an automated call that my garbage would be picked up by 6pm THE NEXT DAY.

I'm sorry but republic Trash Service Truck driver or Lazy or just don't like their jobs. Every other week my Trash get missed it's always put out the night before and still get missed. My recycle pick up no issues but my Trash is a different story. Then when you inquire about the miss pick up it's always a lie some where with the driver. You pay for your Service and don't get Service. It's a headache week after week. Please talk or discipline your drivers there is no accountability and you wanna charge more for Service y'all driver missed. SMH

Update 3/3/2024 Continued inept, unreliable and shamefully poor service. A couple of months ago Republic just dumped my yard waste all over and left it for me to fill the bin back up and it took days to get it picked up. I gave a one star review on the site and was contacted by an operations manager who had to intercede to make the pick up happen. Republic continually falsely marks missed pick ups as closed so you have to be vigilant in monitoring that. The holiday schedule was a joke - some rouge driver was picking up on the regular day in error when I did not put my trash out and then I was assured they would still pick up the next day. I was missed the scheduled day. Again it took reporting a missed pick up, calls and emailing the operations manager to get my bins taken days later. And yet again Republic falsely marked my pick up complete when it wasn’t. Just last week Republic knocked my garbage bin over and just left it lying full of garbage. I reported a missed pick up AND called the customer service. The rep said he contacted the operations manager and the driver and assured me my garbage would be picked up 3/1, that day. Of course it wasn’t. Then once again Republic falsely marked the pick up as completed. My trash sits untouched as of 3/3 despite reporting a missed pick up, emailing the operations manager (no response) and calling customer service. I don’t know what to do to get my trash picked up! And this was Republic’s error as usual yet I have to spend time and effort just to make sure it gets done. Republic’s business model is seriously flawed. They can’t even coordinate a simple missed pick up! Customer service reps are pleasant but obviously are no real help based on my experience. This company is the only game in town and they apparently feel no need to provide reliable service. They obviously do not value me as a customer. I would give zero stars if I could. Republic gives extremely poor service. They changed our schedule from every other week to pick up of all three cans every week starting August 2022 and I don’t believe there have been more than a handful of times that all three cans were actually picked up on the scheduled date since that time. Every week at least one or two cans are missed and I get a robo-call telling me they will be picked up the next day. Sometimes they are, sometimes not. Recently I haven’t even been getting the robo-calls. I have had more than 8 actual missed pick ups since August. A couple of months ago they closed a missed pick up as resolved on the website when they never even picked up! I once called about a missed pick up (had to call multiple times because they never came) and dealing with customer service was like being in an Abbott and Costello “Who’s on first” routine. Beyond frustrating. Last week they missed my garbage. This week BOTH the recycling and the garbage were missed. Although the service is getting worse, I got a notice a few days ago that the prices have increased! I resent having to pay for service that is getting worse! The website is terrible - you aren’t given enough characters to make a comment or ask questions and you can’t even use punctuation other than periods. And tonight I saw a “Past due” by my bill amount on the website. I have auto pay! Today is 6/29 and the bill is due 6/30. How in the world does that qualify as past due? My payments are always on time. I as a customer am held to certain standards, but Republic as a service provider doesn’t seem to be. If there was another company to switch to I would in a heartbeat. Republic absolutely does not value me as a customer. Very poor excuse for a garbage and recycling service.

I have been extremely disappointed with the landfill, recycling, and compost collection over the last few months. Collection is supposed to happen on Fridays,and more often than not, it does not happen until Saturday. When the trucks finally do arrive on Saturday, they often collect as early as 6 am - and between the deafening noise from the backup beeper, the slamming of trash cans, and revving of truck engines, the entire neighborhood is rudely awakened at this ungodly hour on a weekend morning almost every single week because the collection did not occur on the proper day. Furthermore, the trucks routinely leave trash and recycling strewn in the street after collection and we have to pick it up after the trucks are gone. The rates continue to go up, and the service continues to go down. I can't remember the last time all three bins were collected on the date they were scheduled to be collected. When addressing my complaint directly with Republic Services, I received a lame "Thank you for sharing your experience. Customer feedback is very important to us here at Republic Services. We apologize for the frustration you experienced." How about a plan to fix this ongoing problem instead of an apology that does nothing?

This is not against the drivers. They are great and super friendly. But the company itself is a joke. They are obviously very understaffed since getting through to customer service is almost impossible and they constantly miss pickup days. And if one of the drivers accidentally misses one of your bins, good luck trying to get someone to come pick it up until the next week, which will most likely be late.

Decent day-to-day service with the occasional late day trash pick up. However, don't use any of their additional services. I've tried using their additional day trash pickups and additional yard removal pickups. The online scheduling system is opaque and it's hard to know whether it worked or not. Calling in isn't much better. I talked to a representative to confirm my online scheduling. They confirmed, however, I didn't receive the service. When I called in again, they admitted they messed up, but there was nothing they could do. Just don't rely on the additional services and everything should be fine.

They charge for the recycling service but for the last 2 weeks recycling bin has not been picked up and when I call they keep saying they are sending a driver to pick up the recycling by 6pm but nobody shows up. Also, they said they will refund me for not having service for the last 2 weeks. I still don’t see any adjustments to my bill .

Very poor customer service. They don't even fulfill your request. I've scheduled for a bin delivery, the driver did show up at my place with "plenty of bin available" on his truck. However, for some reason, he left without delivering the bin...... he basically stoped his truck, stayed for 2 mins and drove away without doing anything??? why coming all the way out here if you are planning to do nothing??? Most importantly, this is not the first time that they've messed up a scheduled delivery/pick up!! Called customer service 2 mins after the truck left and was told that as a "customer service agent" there is NOTHING they can do. The only thing they can do is to put a "note" on my request and I should just wait. Ridiculous and unbelievable... Just can't understand WHY did the driver came all the way to my place with all the available bins but not dropping them off?

I am dissatisfied with the level of service and actions they take to correct it (which is none) since moving to Walnut Creek this past year. They constantly empty either my or my neighbor’s bins and return them back in front of my driveway, blocking my car. Pickup rarely ever all happens on Thursday when it’s scheduled. So I have to leave my bins (trash, recycle, and/or yard waste) out until the end of day Friday (sometimes longer) to make sure it’s taken… our street isn’t the widest, so bins in the street always force drivers to slow down and give extra space to not hit them. Plus it’s not a nice sight in our neighborhood to have bins out for a couple of days, especially because Republic can’t figure out scheduling.

Called to schedule extra pickup and was told they could pick it up on my reg pick up day. The extra bags were not picked up. Called them the next morning and they reassured me that someone would be out by the end of the day. No show again, called again and was reassured that someone would definitely pick up the bags by the end of the day. No show again by now it’s Friday. Called again spoke to a manager she wasn’t sure why it wasn’t picked up but said someone would be picking up the bags by 6. No show again!!!

Had a rough patch when I initially requested services; however, I am giving them a five star rating due to the amazing customer service I received from Walter Fernandez. After calling for three weeks straight and working with different customer service reps, he was able to fix my issue without a few hours and even called me back to give me the amazing news. If I could nominate him within the company for a customer service award I will. This goes to show that there are still people in this world who don’t just collect a pay check but really enjoy working in the customer service realm. Thank you so much Walter!!!!

The Republic Garbage Service failed to pick up all the garbage in the can. We're going on vacation soon and have a big family, therefore, wanted a return pickup to make sure the can is empty for the last pickup before our trip. I was placed on hold for numerous hours and was unable to schedule a return pickup. In that time the answering service reps. could have responded to several calls and eventually got to me. Finally, I tried to make a complaint to no avail. The number I was given by the corporate office is no longer in service. The only other number provided is the service one for Pacheco, Ca. that I initially, called, which no one answers and which is responsible for Martinez pickups. Seems the system is broken and they feel embolden by being in a position to not answering to a higher authority. I'm going to call my supervisor for the city and or county to complain since nothing can be done at their level. It should be noted, this has is a frequent issue that happened in the past.

I pay my bill on time and in full payment. I have had my green yard waste bin outside for three weeks and it has yet to be picked up. I called and complained and if it's not reported within 24 hours of scheduled pick up they make you wait til next service. I have had these damn lawn trimming in my bin for three weeks. No reimbursement of any kind. No apologies. Just here this is how it is and go about your day. Unsatisfied with service. Looking to find alternative
