Always very busy, this service center has been run for years by the same woman and her staff. She's knowledgeable, personable, gets right in there, and like I said always stays busy. Never too busy though to sneak a customer in that has been coming for a while. Highly recommended ⁰1
I live in Antioch and Orinda Shell is a ways but I wouldn't take my Pilot anywhere else. I heard about Orinda Shell through a friend of mine..And I'm so glad I checked them out. They treated me with the up most respect. They fixed my car in a timely manner. They are honest and I trust them.. I now have a forever new mechanic with Orinda Shell.. Maureen, Kathy, and Joe were so kind and made me feel welcomed when I had concerns about a flat tire. Kathy quickly cleared me a spot to park since I was on the way to work and Joe took it upon himself to check all my tires. Thank you all!
I don't write reviews often, if ever. I had a honda crv that I brought into Orinda Shell Auto Care and it turned out it needed work that was too expensive for any sane person to put in the car. Duane and Kathy (and everybody else who's name I can't remember) were super straight forward and nice. But they helped me get my car out of their and pointed me in a good direction to get it all figured out. I had to leave my car there for almost two weeks because it was so complicated (maybe two weeks+) and they didn't harass me or even treat me negatively in any way. And in the end they only charged me a small fee for a little bit of labor. That's honest and good business right there. I know where I'll be taking any cars I need fixed from now on. Thanks yall I really appreciate it. Also to the gentleman who helped me open my car because (as luck would have it) my key stopped working for the door.
I have brought a series of cars to Kathy's Shell over several decades. Kathy's care of my vehicles AND of me has been outstanding. I have never had her recommend an unnecessary repair. She and her mechanics sometimes come up with ways to save money while still resolving the problem. They've gone the extra mile; what about continuing their work when a pack rat scooted out from under the hood! In addition to servicing my care, over the years, Kathy has advised me when it was no longer cost-effective to repair a car, inspected used cars, and helped me decide what new car might best meet my needs.
I am satisfied that Orinda Shell offers good maintenance care and mechanical service, I appreciate the convenience of their location and the fact that they show kindness and respect to their customers.
I stopped by this mechanic shop about two weeks ago, spoke to Maureen (who seemed really knowledgeable and trustworthy), made an appointment for an oil change/maintenance. I specifically asked how long this would take and she assured me that before 5pm everything would be done unless they found a major issue.
This morning I dropped off my car at 9 and didn't hear anything back all day. Finally at 5:30 pm I called them for an update and they told me that they hadn't even gotten to my car and would see if they could fit it in. I had an appointment, dropped off my car, waited 8.5 hours, and I had to call to find this out. I have never been more disappointed in how a business runs. The man on the phone did not at all appear to care that they had wasted the entire day and didn't even bother to tell me to reschedule. The level of unprofessionalism in how this was conducted is unmatched. So if you want someone reliable and professional, please keep looking!
So impressed and grateful for this shop! They diagnosed and fixed a major problem on our car as we passed through town on a road trip. They were so timely, wonderful customer service and great price.

This shell mechanic shop has saved me several times once I got a flat tire couldn't get the lugnuts off nor could the tow truck so I drove here a few miles and they changed the tire cheap then another time my transmission fluid was leaking all out they fixed it and refilled it for only $15 please give them your business they are honest nice people the times I went
Kathy is wonderful and frankly the only mechanic I've really trusted for years now. I drove from outside the area just to see her at this point. Never in my life has a mechanic been more honest and up front.
Common things Kathy will tell you are "This thing is wearing out and needs to be replaced but you don't need to worry about it now."
Kathy will go out of her way to try and find ways to keep your total bill low, but always without sacrificing the quality of the work.
This is my go-to car repair shop. Everybody has been always honest, and friendly. I can trust these guys to do good job and not trying to rip me off with unnecessary work.
