Johnny Cash Commemorative Monument Circa 1976 in
Kingsland (AR)

The monument is a bit run down. The town is in the middle of no where with no phone service a good amount of the way. They could do better for being Johnny Cash's place of birth. But it was interesting to know such a start came from such humble beginnings.

It's a great honor too know Johnny Cash birthplace,I just bought a 1/2 acre right up the road from Kingland,I love history.

Went here on 15 Aug 2024 around 17:30 as well as to see the crossing of where 4014 will be on 16 Sept 2024.

Cool history

This is a simple monument. No structures to see or museum. Easy roadside access. Worth seeing if you are in the area but don't go out of your way for this. It is like stopping at an historical marker on a road trip, but a little fancier.

There is no upkeep on it. Could be nicer. Come on it's Johnny Cash!!!!!

Small little spot on side of road.We stopped on way through the area so it was cool to see where he was born.

This was amazing

Wasn’t a whole lot to see but pretty cool little town. We weren’t able to go into the post office or the building next to it (Johnny Cash Center I think).

Did you know that Johnny Cash wrote a song for "Return of the Jedi", but was sadly rejected? I guess George Lucas wasn't a fan of "Ewok the Line."

Not much to it other than a small fenced in area with a plaque and monument, but it's exciting to know such a legend was born here. There's a couple other historical markers nearby as well. If you're in the area and a music lover, I suggest giving it a quick visit. The town recently painted a silhouette of the Man in Black onto their water tower as well.

Kingsland, Arkansas should have more to commemorate the man in black. I'm sure many people would make the pilgrimage here. He was a cultural icon.

Great to visit to say you have been there but not much to see. If you see the pics posted you have seen all there is to see.

Small monument built in his honor. I hear that there will be a museum of sorts opened soon here.

Even though he never reinvested his good fortune in the poor rural community, it a nice gesture.
