Chicken Creek Saloon, a very unique and rustic place. The atmosphere is great and so are the drinks and the food on offer. We will definitely be back on our next Alaskan trip.

Delicious chicken pot pie (not always served so call ahead!) and sausages, and incredible decorations and chicken-themed merchandise.
Perfect stop after driving the Top-Of-The-World Highway!
Der Ort Chicken liegt an dem Top of the World Highway auf der Straße von Alaska nach Kanada zum Yukon Territorium. Die ehemalige Goldgräbersiedlung ist heute vor allem ein Versorgungsplatz für die Durchreisenden und die Goldgräber in der weiteren Umgebung. In den urigen Lokalen kann man kräftige Speisen bekommen. Chicken ist auf alle Fälle einen Stopp wert. Wenn man mit dem Wohnmobil unterwegs ist, sollte man sich hier mit ausreichend Vorräten eindecken.
We spent part of our honeymoon in Chicken. The owner of the saloon saved our lives. When we arrived in May last year, we found out that the Yukon River crossing to Dawson was still closed. The owner helped us find accommodation on short notice and he and the whole team were delightful company!
Our Yukon adventures landed us in Chicken, Alaska for an unexpected overnighter. Max made sure we had a roof over our heads and food to eat. THANK YOU. You also make some bomb chili and homemade bread! We will keep on sending people your way. If you are up this way you MUST stop in Chicken.
Fantastic experience! The atmosphere is the most unique I’ve seen and the drinks were SUPERB and not too costly for Alaska/Yukon. Definitely worth the visit even if not interested in Top of the World Highway.
Tried to buy weed off the cooks but they sold me a cinnamon roll instead and changed my life and my perspective on baked sweet rolls. The cream was Devine, the cinnamon, sublime- i cant rave enough about the stuff in this joint. No pun intended. Also- the chicken saloon sported a 4-legged dog which contrary to the story does not have three legs. So make that of it what you will.
So far- Chicken is my favorite place in Alaska.
When I was young we took a summer RV trip from Vancouver to Chicken. On the way after we left Whitehorse I really had to pee and my dad told us we'd stop at sundown. I ended up peeing at the border crossing. When we finally pulled in to Chicken we panned for gold like tourists for about 10 minutes before getting bored. I played Gameboy until sunset waiting to see the aurora, saw some mild green mist in the night sky and fell asleep. Parents stayed up all night drinking and saw the best aurora of their lives. In the morning they bought a 'I got laid in Chicken, Alaska' fridge magnet and drove home.
10/10, can't wait to go back!
A small place with huge character. We stopped in for a drink and ended up staying for several and the bartender, Billy, even reheated some food from the closed restaurant for us. We had a great time!
This place is amazing. Gotta go to the bar and have a drink, while you are at it order up some food. Best fried potatoes I've ever had. This place is iconic and throw some pretty good events from time to time. Nice place very off the river after mining for weeks. People are the friendliest and the service and quality are impeccable. Highly recommend stopping. While you are in Chicken say hi to Zeke the mail dog!
08-15-2019 The first night in our rig we heard this huge blast , like a bomb... twice! We met Georgio the bartender the next night after coming back from Eagle AK and he told us the story about the blast! He’s a great guy and pretty much runs the whole place! By that I mean the Mercantile, the bar, and the restaurant! To get to Eagle on our trip by way of Chicken AK was a great experience! BTW... I think I remember someone saying that only 7 people stay there in the winter. After that’s the Top of the World Highway and Dawson City Yukon CA.. Most AWESOME TRIP EVER!
I was there some years back with a coworker and spent a few days. I want to go back very soon! I am overdue for some laughs and a late night at the saloon.
Recently my grandfather passed away. He was a great and powerful influence in my life. He was an over the road trucker and always wished to see Alaska. I went with him as a kid in his Big Rig and saw a great portion of the Eastern United States. When I was with him I only would eat Chicken sandwiches with pickles. After his retirement his younger brother convinced him to go to Alaska with him after a lot of pushing to do so.
After he passed we did as many people do, we began the arduous task of clearing out his belongings. My mother happened upon 3 hats from his trip to Alaska. One of them was from the Chicken Saloon, I quickly scooped up this hat, due to my fondness of chicken sandwiches and also the love for my grandfather. I can help but imagine that, he picked this hat up just for me...One day I plan on paying this fine establishment a visit.
Just want you to know that his visit there to Alaska, was part of his bucket list, a part that he was able to cross off the list. Thank you for that. God Bless.
