I went in to get my air pressure, checked in my tires and get a new wiper for my rear window and the girl that waited on me was so sweet and kind and went out of her way to make me feel like I was not a problem and as a 66-year-old woman, I greatly appreciated it

I was very happy to find a place to change my oil open early on a Sunday. I easily made my appointment online. When I got there I greeted by a very friendly and welcoming person. The mechanic quickly got to my car, left my interior clean, and finished in about 20 minutes. The very friendly woman that checked me in also checked me out and my price was $22 cheaper than originally expected. Thank you for the great service.

When I pick up my car today, I owe everyone at the Skyland store, especially Jason & DJ, the biggest apology I have ever made. Things happened with my car that they had zero control over & I became a monster over it. The way I spoke to them is inexcusable & I am absolutely ashamed of myself. They deserve so much better. I will forever be in their debt & I am so, so sorry. Please, whoever reads this review: be better than me. Respect these folks & the work they do. I should have.

During our road trip in a rented vehicle, we stopped for an emergency oil change. Pep Boys also identified badly worn tires that need replacement. We received excellent service, and thanks to Christopher and the Pep Boys technicians we able to complete our trip safely.

I called late on a Saturday and made an appointment real easy. Even went to the wrong location and they still took care of me. worry free experience overall. And it took no time at all. Would recommend to anyone for an oil change.

Our daughter was traveling and had a flat tire west of Tuscaloosa. We called Pep Boys on Skyland Blvd. Even though it was almost time for them to close, they agreed to wait for our daughter to get there on her spare tire so she could get a replacement. They were very helpful and gave us great service.

Jason the assistant manager is a literal life saver! They worked so fast and were so kind with getting us a new tire!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SHOP!!!!!!! IF I COULD GIVE 10 STARS I WOULD!!!!!

The service was good. My only complaint was that the tires I ordered on Thursday, that according to the website was in stock at the chosen store, were not in stock and had not even been ordered when I arrived for my appointment. To the service manager's credit, he apologized and took the time to call other stores until a comparable tire was found and then drive there and got them. He was a five star performer but their website gets a 3 star.

Two and a half stars would be more accurate. They set my appointment for noon, and they didn’t even touch my car until one. It was nearly two before I got out of there. I don’t have the luxury of leaving my vehicle for them to service at their leisure, so I had to wait two hours for a 15 minute job, 20 at the most. I understand they have others in line before me, but there was no one in the lobby waiting (these were all drop offs), so it seems they would take care of the customers waiting on their vehicles first. Or at the very least, have a technician specifically for those waiting. The wait time was just one issue. The young lady up front was nice, for the most part, but but she seemed like she’d rather be anywhere but at work and taking time to check on how much longer I would be waiting was obviously an irritant she could do without. And since I’m on a roll, the place could stand to be cleaned a little. Food bits were all over the lobby floor, and there were plenty of cobwebs and dead flies in the windows. I can say without a doubt, I will not be back. PepBoys, do better! Edited to decrease stars and add: I got home and realized that not only did they incorrectly rotate my tires, they also didn’t check the tire pressure - even though my receipt notes they did.

With only an hour to go before they close on a Saturday night, Pam and Alexander not only got me in I got my tires put on my vehicle did it for half the price and only took about 35 minutes this was incredible!! I had been waiting a week to get into the other places. They put on two tires for half the price and did the rotation for free.

Glad the problem was fixed but cant say I will return to this place. Communication was horrible from Hunter & Jason even Authur. I was told to bring my car by and leave it for a 1-2 hours for a diagnostic for my a/c at my 9:30am appointment. No one called me to let me know anything about my vehicle until I called at 3pm that day. Hunter then went to tell me that Arthur jumped to work on it and my price suddenly went up without me knowing and only expected to pay for what i asked of which was an diagnostic. I called back and told Jason to let them know that i have a limit at this point because I didn’t expect them to fix it that quickly. Long story short, I had to pick my car up the next day, my total came out to be way over my limit and my messages wasnt past on to the mechanic and the communication overall was horrible.

Hunter, the store manager, is awesome! Great customer service and knowledge. I was in town visiting family when my tire would not hold pressure. Hunter investigated and found a large nail in my tire and placed an inside patch on the tire. I had peace of mind driving back home on the tire. Will use this location whenever I’m in town.

I found the guys at the Skyland Blvd. location in Tuscaloosa, Al. to be fast, fair and surprisingly affordable. I took my car in for rear struts, and they were much cheaper than when I’d had the front ones done a few months prior at one of their competitors. I will continue to do business with these guys in the future. They were awesome!! Great customer service, great prices, and very friendly! They make getting your car serviced not so dreadful! Great job guys! Keep up the good work! #5⭐

Scheduled an appointment. They never put it on the books. Told me they could quickly patch my tire or at least take a loot at it within a half hour and then took 4 hours and weren’t even able to look at it. I decided to take it to warren tires who were amazing by the way if you need a place that won’t waste your time.

UPDATE: 4/28/2021 So I read their canned response that all unsatisfied reviewers get, and I followed the instructions to escalate the issue. I did receive an email, and then called the number specified (4/20/2021). I recounted my story to the customer service agent and was told I would receive a call from the person over our area within 24 to 48 hours. I’m still waiting. I haven’t heard another thing by phone or email from management. I don’t really expect to at this point. Just wanted to update so others would not think all of these issues were resolved. I have used this location for more than 10 years to service my cars and buy tires. They bought my loyalty by fixing a flat before I was a customer. Today, they have lost me as a customer. One of my daughters took her car in for the managers special oil change which includes a tire rotation. They did not do this service. This is the second car in a month that they did not rotate the tires when getting the oil changed. The tires for both were purchased at this store. Last month, sending my oldest daughter to get her oil changed, not only did they not rotate the tires, they tried to charge her for the high mileage synthetic oil change when she ordered the managers special when setting the appointment in the app. She only gave her information. When she picked up her car, the charge was over $60 for the upgraded service. When her father questioned why so much, they said the app doesn’t tell them which oil to use and they just have to make a judgment call. When he told them that I usually take care of this and to put in my information, they came back and apologized, issued a credit for the price difference, and gave us a free oil change. After what happened today, I no longer trust them to service my cars. I feel my daughter’s were taken advantage of and have warned them that this is what they face as young women. Also, as this is a corporate owned store, I will no longer recommend Pep Boys or trust any Pep Boys location with my vehicles.

I got an oil change and asked them to change the air filter, check coolant/ anti freeze, and transmission fluid. When I was told it was ready they had not changed the air filter or checked the fluids like I asked. They were nice when I asked again. It was a Friday evening and they were very busy. Everyone has a good attitude even when they are swamped. Their price was more reasonable than the quickie oil change places I have used in the past. I will definitely go back.

Had my tires rotated! Got me in and out in 25 minutes! I've had great service with Pep Boys and I am on my 3rd set of new Cooper tires that I got an excellent price on from Leland the Mgr. at the Skyland Blvd. location in Tuscaloosa,Al.

I was headed to Pep Boys to get an alignment on my front end, when the engine light started to flash. I told the tech I needed an alignment and to see if they could find out why the engine light was flashing. I know I needed spark plugs, but wanted them to see if it was anything worse. An hour later, no alignment, and I was told I needed an engine because the number 2 cylinder wasn't getting any fire. I asked about the coil pack, wires, and plugs, but they were adament about me needing an engine. I asked how much it would cost and the response was between $1800 to $2600. After I left, I stopped by Advance Auto Parts and picked up plugs, coil pack, and cam sensor. After waiting for the engine to cool, I spent about 45 minutes installing the parts. For less than $100, and now, I have no "flashing" engine light or error codes. Anyone that lacked knowledge of how an engine works, would have spent quite a sum to fix an engine that had nothing wrong. Needless to say, I won't ever take my vehicle to them again, for any type of service.

I’m trying to figure out why I’m waiting an hour for an oil change after I made my appointment online. Maybe I’m just used to the awesome service I’ve received the past 15 years from the fantastic guys in Crisshaven Drive at Express. Unfortunately my husband has been driving my car lately and he didn’t get by there. However, I did receive my car as promised within the hour. I did feel really bad for a lady and her daughter that was told it would be an hour for two tires to be put on and she stated she had already been there longer than an hour when we arrived. I recommended she remind the manager that her car was still in the parking lot and Leland did go get her car and take it into one of the empty bays. I stood at the window and watched as my oil was being changed. I’m not sure the guy that changed my oil was very knowledgeable with tools. I’m sure I’ll know soon if he was or not. There was a lot of cell phone action going on with employees and one employee actually let the phone continue to ring up front as he went and found a charger (in the back) for his phone. I will definitely return to my safe place in Birmingham that is fast, efficient, honest and clean. I gave a four star review because Leland said it would take an hour when we arrived and we were out within an hour. But seriously you should be informed of this online when making an appointment. One thing I noticed as did the other lady and we both did not like... I have a 2019 car and when they finally came outside with my paperwork they WROTE (using a ball point pen) on the HOOD of my car. If my paint is scratched I’m going to be one mad lady! I guess I was raised that you don’t mess with other people’s property like that especially if it can damage. Noticed the guys in the back did the same thing (on the other side of my hood) when they were done. Ugh. Not ok with this new car owner. I worked hard to purchase my car and want to keep it looking nice.

BreAnna was nice, she helped me decide which oil change I needed for the car. She also showed me some tires. They were pretty busy, but the wait wasn't that long. Plus with the coupon I got from Pep Boys Website, the price was reasonable.

I hit a pothole and needed to get my tire balanced. The guys at this location worked me in, gave me a great price and had me out of there quicker than most doctor’s appointments. They are very upfront with wait time, pricing and great service.

I pulled in with a nail in my tire. They were very busy, and told me there would be a wait. Got me in and got it fixed within an hour. Also checked my battery after dealer said it was shot. Battery checked out fine. No charge for services. Thank you so much.

Alvin at counter was extremely helpful and courteous. He was extremely nice to me and was very helpful and respectful to an elderly lady who came in while I was waiting. Great customer service makes up for car service being a little slow. I’m from North Carolina, but when I’m visiting and need repairs, I will definitely come back because of him!

If I could give this place a negative review I would!! I took my car here on a Friday night for a simple oil change. They ended up breaking my only car key leaving me car-less for a whole weekend. They also damaged my glove compartment in the process of changing out my filter. I'm giving it 1 star because that is the lowest i can go but in reality this place deserves at least a -3 star review. No sense of urgency, lacking in empathy for the customer. I should not have to make 3 visits to a shop for what was supposed to be an hour trip.
