I’ve been with Sea Tow for about 8 years and had never used their service. A while back, We ran aground in Mobile bay as dark was approaching. I called Sea Tow to get pulled of the low area. No one answered but the answering machine said to leave a message and they would call me back shortly. I never received a call back. I called back several times. We waited over an hour. It was basically dark and while wondering if we were going to have to spend the night on the water when a guy coming by was nice enough to give us a pull to deeper water. It took 3 tries to get us out and we were very thankful. Later I called the office to see why I never got a call back. Of course they had no idea. The guy that answered the phone offered me a free month of service to make up for the mishap. I told him that that dramatically insufficient in compensation since I had paid them over 8 years. I asked for a free year which he denied. I called the regional supervisor who was nothing but rude. I was floored at their response as this is a service that people have to count on. He said he would have to talk to the local owner of that location to see if he would agree to grant the year credit. They never called back with an answer. So I called and did eventually get the free year of service. I would definitely recommend not using Sea if you are expecting to get help when you need it. I guess this is why their google rating is 3.7.
My husband was stranded close to Live Oak Landing near Mobile, Al. After paying for Sea Tow for 4 years without needing them. They refused to come and help even with this landing being listed as our home port when I originally purchased membership. Seems they will take your money but won't come if you need help. Very disappointed. They told me to call marine police. It was 99 degrees that day and husband and friend that was with him are both 79 years old.
Robby and his staff has always been professional, reliable and very friendly. If you own a vessel and don’t have a membership with Sea Tow you are gambling with you vessel and life. I highly recommend!
