Christmas Eve, routes running early and my neighbor across the street gets skipped first pass. When they are coming up to do my side of the street neighbor wheels the cart out. Driver stops, get out and manually wheels it over to dump it and wheel it back. Talk about going the extra mile! Merry Christmas Hilltoppers! Thanks for going above and beyond!

To make long story short, we were in need of a dumpster for a service project we were doing at a widow’s house that doubled as an adoption fundraiser. The goal is to provide all the service to the widow free of charge. We reached out to over 100 businesses asking for donations of money and/or supplies. Of those, only 6 responded. Hilltoppers was the first to get on board and donate an entire 20yd dumpster. We are forever grateful for them and the impact they made on our live, a widow’s life and the life of our future child.
On top of that, they were a joy and breeze to work with. Communication was always timely. Every employee who we worked with was kind. And the dumpster itself was exactly what we needed. The streets in my neighborhood are all torn up to replace streets and water mains. My street isn't really passable for most vehicles, especially large, heavy ones like garbage trucks. Our driver, Terry, has consistently gone above and beyond to empty our dumpster even when it has meant getting out and walking through considerable mud and yuk to do it. Thank you Terry!!!

This was RCU's 32nd year cleaning up pools 7 & 8 of the Mississippi River, surrounding waterways, wetlands and public areas. RCU Volunteers have cleaned up approximately 840,000 pounds of garbage including 3,567 barrels, 1912 tires over the years. Mix ups with scheduling, missed pickups, careless drivers, and poor customer service. I told scheduling errors are not their responsiblity to fix and unable to send a driver.
Another week, another missed pickup for recycling in Holmen. This is the 6th time in the last 8 months that our recycling (which has been put out the night before) wasn’t picked up. At this point I’m not sure why we’re even paying for the service if you’re only going to perform 60% of the time. Maybe start offering discounts to your customers so they’re truly paying for the half executed service you’re providing.
Don’t appreciate the driver honking several times and keeping on it!! The truck was literally parked in a parking slot and the driver kept laying on the airhorn. Some people work 3rd shift like the neighbor he kept honking at and I so was very unprofessional. Show some respect good lord.
Great operation from top to bottom with drivers & staff always great in sometimes difficult circumstances having access to dumpsters because of tight space and illegal parking done mostly by well meaning but uninformed neighbors/ visitors.Very impressed by skill and patience needed to access those big trucks into tight spots given 150 yr old buildings built right up to property lines throughout the national historic district of downtown. 5/14/25 5 am.Thought pick up was tomorrow but heard truck pull up while getting some chores done.Went outside to apologize for my car parked nearby only to see your polite hard worker moving 2 mattresses w nasty smelling transient poop from next door off back of dumpster so they didnt get stuck underneath after the empty.THANK YOU !!!!
I have been using a Hilltopper dumpster at my home for a while now. We live out in the country and don't get regular services. The driver who dropped our dumpster off originally was so friendly. He even helped me pick out the best spot on my property for the dumpster to be placed. We get it emptied every 2 weeks and they are always on time. When I call to pay my bill every month over the phone, the customer service women I speak with are so nice! It is very affordable as well. I would definitely recommend Hilltopper to anyone who needs this type of service!

Terrible customer service and workers. The truck came by my house to pick up recycling. Apparently the bin was too heavy and the arm tipped it over. The driver got out and said that he tried. It was heavy, but not to heavy for me to tip back myself. He was very rude, he didn't even help me lift it back up or clean what fell out in the street. I called and got a talk about how sheet metal is not recyclable. My garbage was heavier and the Harters tuck had no problems.
Paid for an extra garbage can yearly. Canceled the service and they charged us $80. On the bill it said it would automatically be deducted from our account….it wasn’t and they sent it to collections the next month with a $28 admin fee! Pretty shady and wouldn’t recommend this business!
Called for a rental on a Friday and asked for the different sizes of rentals they had. Was told there was one that was available and that they could send someone and get it out to us (same day). Waited, never showed up and then the weekend came so we couldn't do any of our cleaning we had hoped for. Monday comes around, called back and was told they were sending it. Never called us to tell us that they couldn't do it and now our deposit was taken. Horrible service, what kind of company takes your money and doesn't deliver their service? Wouldn't recommend giving your money to this junk place.
Very friendly, and appreciative of our business. We had 2 similar loads of carpeting, and It cost us twice as much to dump off at Harter's as it did the day before at Hilltoppers.
Pretty expensive and pretty slow. I was there far longer than seemed really necessary and it's definately more expensive than I was expecting. I can't say for sure if any other private refuse contractor is better value but I can say the LaCrosse county landfill site is cheaper by a significant amount.
I won't use them again and can't recommend them.
