This is one of my favorite state parks in Wisconsin! I stopped here on a road trip to Voyageurs National Park just to camp for a night and it was perfect. The office has bathrooms with flush toilets and sinks which is really all I needed since I got there so late at night and left before sunrise. The waterfalls are really beautiful and definitely worth hiking around if you have the time!
Wow, a water fall /mini fall within every 50 ft. The covered bridge walkway is beautiful. The ability to see the Douglas Fault is amazing. Grab the geological pamphlet for fascinating info.

This park was pretty, with a relatively easy path and some neat sights along the way. Fun for young kids to pretty safely explore. Might be a bit challenging for strollers and wheelchairs.
Beautiful in fall lots of birch and quaking aspen. There are multiple waterfalls - not many hiking trails (only 2ish miles) but you can walk a significant way along the river. You can swim anywhere in the river according to staff but I would recommend taking thimbleberry trail and taking an offshoot to the old quarry which is a deep and clear swimming hole. The camping area is really nice and would be perfect for kids.
This is one of my favorite spots thus far. So much to see here. We hiked for 3.5 hours and could have truly stayed all day. There are so many waterfalls and picturesque stops. The trails have ones less traveled and still get you back to the trails easy enough to explore and not stress about being lost.
This state park is open year-round and offers some beautiful sightings of nature. There are plenty of outdoor recreational activities available from camping, hiking, hunting and fishing to picnic areas and swimming. We enjoyed walking the trails and exploring all the geological views as well.
We went to visit several waterfalls in the Superior/Duluth area. Amnicon was by far our favorite. Trails all along the river/falls. You can go into the water. But the best part is the further you follow those trails the more waterfalls you see. We didn’t anticipate that. Snake Pit falls was very unique and easy to view from a lot of angles.
If you love waterfalls, this wonderful park has several that you can get right in front of, on top of, below, and to the sides. As long as you're sure-footed, you can really get all over them here! You can even swim right up to them in a few spots, like the Lower Falls section.
The trails here are nice, wide, and easy-going for the most part (there are some roots and rocks, but nothing terrible).
There are picnic tables and grills scattered around, and a lot of places to sit on the ground for a more traditional picnic with incredible scenery.
There are several parking locations throughout, and each has some incredibly picturesque views nearby.
Not much in the way of playground equipment that I saw, just a swingset, but there may be more in the campground area (didn't go over to that part).
I didn't notice any shelters, other than the historic covered bridge. Not a deterrent for me, but something to keep in mind if you visit on a rainy day.
This is well worth visiting even from across the country (or from other countries). If you're visiting Wisconsin, this should definitely be on your list. If you live here, but have never been, this is one of the places in our state you should go out of your way to see at least once in your life.
This place is absolutely gorgeous and so worth the drive!

I've always had an incredibly strong wanderlust and love of picture-taking. It brings me great joy showing people the weird and beautiful places to visit in our state (and country).
My hope is that I have helped to inspire others to get out and explore, and maybe shown people things they didn't even know existed.
I've been all over our country, and Wisconsin is an incredibly beautiful place that I don't think most people realize.
Time spent outdoors here is time well spent!
This is a great, underappreciated park. It’s small, but tends to be less crowded and you have great access to the waterfalls. It’s a much smaller, more intimate version of Copper Falls. The covered bridge is a really neat, unique feature of this park.
We visited on a fall drive and returned a couple years later to camp. While you’re here it’s also a quick drive over to Pattison State Park to see the tallest waterfall in Wisconsin: Big Manitou Falls
Great little park that can be stunningly beautiful. The same rock that forms Niagara falls creates this area. Easy walking with plenty of place to get up close and personal with the water, without the danger inherent to these types of places.

This campsite was perfect for a relaxing weekend getaway. It had everything we needed—fire pit, picnic table, and just the right amount of space between sites to feel private without being isolated. The campground was clean, peaceful, and well-maintained.
Pro tip: there are no fancy bathrooms, so be prepared to rough it a bit—but that’s part of the charm! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a simple, enjoyable escape outdoors.
So many waterfalls to see during an interesting and varied hike. We parked in the first available parking lot off of County Road U and then hiked along the edge of the river on the nicely maintained path. The river churns and rolls along next to you as you walk, and the sound and interesting features of the water movement above and below the falls make the hike so enjoyable. After crossing the bridge, don't miss the chance to hike around the island and check out Snake Pit Falls on the far side. It was the most picturesque of them all! The hike around the island is a little more challenging than along the river. Watch your footing throughout the park as it is easy to trip over the rocks and roots on the paths.
A tour de force of waterfalls. This is the place to go. Easy access with dozens of falls on a 1 mile loop. You will stop every 50 feet to get photos. Clean and easy trails. Amazing visit.
These trials are well-maintained. It was so fun to hike them with my 15 pound mini Aussie. I’m at so many cool people. I am traveling out west while I am laid off for a scheduled three weeks I figured… You only live once!
A hidden gem of the north! The mosquitoes are fairly atrocious this year because of all the rains but the views were well worth it! Park Rangers were very friendly and helpful, facilities were clean, camp sites were spacious. And it's close to both Pattison State Park and Superior/Duluth (about 20 min for either). Definitely stop through for a few hours or a night if you're in the area!
Amnicon Falls State Park has such a beautiful set of waterfalls that are a must see for any nature lover. This is definitely one of the best state parks in Wisconsin, and one of the most scenic and wonderful places around to make a visit to. The river running through the park makes for an awesome and unique hike. They have some great and unique campground sites. The covered bridge between the two waterfalls is an amazing site to see. I highly recommend making a visit here.
If you like waterfalls, don't miss Amnicon Falls. These falls cascade over two arms of the Amnicon River. The park extends over more than 800 acres. Access to the falls is provided by trails, many over uneven granite trails. The covered bridge is a lovely feature.

Now and then falls wasn't flowing when we were there.
There's an approximately 2.5-mile loop that goes all the way around.
We mainly stayed on the one side but hiked down the gorge to get right up to the falls.
There's a cool covered bridge you can view the falls from as well.
And you can walk right along the river listening to the flowing water.
It was stunning to be standing down in gorge looking up. The pictures don't really show the true awesomeness of it.
I would definitely recommend stopping here. We were waterfall chasing, so we didn't spend a ton of time here, but you definitely could!

Beautiful, rustic campground. I live finding little gems like this. Not a crazy busy, big park. Great place to relax. Nice, easy-to-use and beautiful hiking trails. So many pictures taken, and they definitely don't do it justice. We have visited in the summer and in the spring just after a nice blanket of snow, not sure what time was my favorite. Just so much beauty in this little state park! Could just sit and listen to the falls all day, can't wait to go back!
An absolutely gorgeous place for an afternoon picnic or swim. The shallow river runs through boulders and outcroppings, allowing visitors to easily walk down its shores. Two deeper spots lie beneath the two main falls, making for perfect swimming holes during the summer.
Very scenic park. The small rapids along the park road when we first drove in really caught our eyes. I was excited to see the covered bridge in person. The multiple waterfalls and the rocky stream are very picturesque. The park is smaller but a lot of fun to spend time at. I want to go back and eat lunch in one of the many picnic tables. The restrooms were pit type but they were clean. We spent 45 minutes here and wish we had more time.
