They wouldn't let us sell the stuff we brought because they said we needed to have a electrician license even though they let other people do it. They were awful people.
I told the attendant that I had melted some wheel weights. He put his magnet to it and when it didn't stick, he announced that the piece of lead was aluminum. He put my shiny bright copper wire in with the number 2 copper and told me that because it was such fine wire that it wasn't number 1. I had stripped out 5 microwaves and they wanted to deduct a 100 lbs from the weight of the frag feed. The parts that weren't metal would have been less than 20 lbs. I am very disappointed with them.
I've been to EMR Northern Metal Recycling 3 days out of 4 work days to do what I've been doing for several years now. I've always been the one to check the average prices of the ferrous or non- ferrous materials I've been holding prior to selling to larger distributors. I have been working my tail off and the payout is getting worse !
Slight misunderstanding due to (I guess myself) lack of asking redundant questions, I'm feeling it's time to sell off to a different recycler . The experience in past in Rice Lake hasn't been all to great, the dirt yard and lack of sweeping the driving and off loading areas have cost me a lot in repair to my tires. I've been rudely been told that I frustrate the young man who weighs up non ferrous and I just asked questions, to suddenly get the total feeling of YUCK! Not a great review for the folks here,but I tell it like I see it and they earned this one! I'll be looking into getting certified for recovering the refrigerant in my near future, I have been denied offload and quoted $20!per item! So guys and gals out there, if you're not certified this is a heed of warning.
Only open Monday and Tuesday every week,and it appears that they don't advertise this so make sure to call and check if there open before you work fifty hours cleaning up a site to run scrap in and they be closed
After weighing in with a small load of what I was told should qualify as "3 foot" I checked with a yard person and asked " this all should qualify as 3 foot"? After looking at the load and moving a few pieces, he, with no other comment got on the radio to someone, and told them that I had a small load of steel. He sent me to an area to unload. After weighing out, I was amazed to be handed $12 and told that it didn't qualify as 3 foot! (In a very condescending way I I might add), like I have no idea what I had!
If I had been told that some of it did not qualify, (it couldn't have been much!) I would have taken it off! Or taken the whole load back to resort, which I had done earlier this summer, when I was told what it took to qualify as 3 foot.
I have had overall decent service in the past, but looks like I need to find a new scrap yard.

My first time here, and the experience was good. Got right in to the door "D" recycling area, and through quickly. Checkout to get paid took a little longer, with 3 people in front of me. No issues.
Yard guys are great, but it took 50 min sitting waiting in the office to get invoiced and checked out, totally unacceptable, made the mistake of letting my kids ride along so they could see the equipment operating and figured it would be 5 min max in the office.... I'll be finding singe somewhere else from now on
I was here two weeks ago but I didn't have the time to wait there were four cars in front of me. And I remember reading take out early are you to have a long wait I only have 4 bags of soda cans I want to get rid of and I'm not going to wait hours to do it I will try again actually tomorrow.
I visited this location only out of convince after a few years of having nothing large to recycle. My feeling was that I didn't receive a fair price for my well sorted and clean aluminum extrusions and those which had some steel in it. I even looked up current pricing as best I could online I know from past experiences years ago that it doesn't pay to question what you receive in payment here because you will be met with very big and upsetting ATTITUDE. I prefer going to a small family operation just north of Bruce, WI. The people who run that operation are top notch and I've never felt that I was mistreated in any way.
No sign on building or fence as to open hours, I wasted two trips to Toy's before I got smart and looked up the joint on Google and discovered they are only open two days per week.
Slow as hell but it is what it is. And the scale is definitely tipped in there favor, it doesn't do half or even tenths pounds. They also make you drive in so your tire could get a nail in it or what not. If you have under 20 dollars worth of scrap they pay cash. Other wise the best give you a check. There the only game in townso like I said it is what it is.
I work during their days they are open. That, according to the sign on the door is Monday and Tuesday. But on the website it said, "Open today." So I wasted my time driving there after loading my truck. No wonder they threatened to close the joint. It isn't the lack of customers, it's the lack of hours being open!
This is a great place to take scrap but if you can't be there well before closing forget it. I drove an hour through construction and stupid-slow leaf lookers, got to the outer lot at 4:29 and the last three employees were already in their vehicles and leaving. My estimate is that they shut down no later than a quarter past so they can be off the property by closing time.
