As a fellow business owner in Morgantown I was optimistic that The Sube Shop was going to be a great place to get several of our rental vehicles serviced. They have constantly been late, have communicated poorly and been consistently rude. Finally have had to call it and just move elsewhere for service. Highly recommend Finish Line Motors as an option for anyone looking to get their car serviced, as their service is honest and does right by people. Avoid the Sube Shop at all costs.
Never taking my car here again. Asked for my tires balanced and tire rotation. Appointment was at 9 A.M. didn’t get done until 2:00pm. When they called to let me know my car was ready to be picked up that they rotated my tires. I asked if they had balanced them as well. He then asked, “well did you ask for it?” Yes I did that was the whole reasoning of coming down. He then placed me on hold to ask the mechanics if it was done. He said they did them. I then picked my car up, looked at the invoice and it said that all was done with tire rotation. I called down and wanted to double check that my tires were balanced as well and when I asked he said, “yes I just didn’t charge you for them. But I can if you would like me too.” I said I’m just calling to double check considering there was miscommunication earlier and he said I will just charge you for it if it makes you happy but they were done. I then take my car on the interstate to clearly feel that my tires were most definitely not balanced. They had my car FOR 5 HOURS AND GAVE ATTITUDE FOR ONLY A TIRE ROTATION. Will never be back and I will be sure to make sure the people I know will not be back as well!
Worst service experience ever. Car is worse now than when I took it. They basically told me that's the way it is. They charged me $80 for a basic oil change and didn't even use a factory filter. Don't waste your money on this place.
Failed my inspection because they said the tint on my windows was too dark. Offered to remove the tint for ~$300.
Went to the dealership on the Mileground instead and they said that the tint was fine and passed me.
Either incompetent or scam. Do better
If I could give 100 stars to the Sube Shop, I would. They are awesome!! Very fast getting you in for repairs. ALL the staff are great, and I loved the laid-back atmosphere. They will go above and beyond to get you back on the road. Their prices beat any shop around. I foolishly went to another shop before I was told about how great the Sube Shop was and got quoted $1,000.00 more! I will NEVER go anywhere else for my car maintenance!
The Sube Shop got my vehicle in and fixed it right away, even faster than I thought they would (the day of). Another auto shop tried overcharging me, so instead of using them, Sube Shop got the work I needed for about $280 cheaper! This was absolutely awesome to me and if you have a Subaru, you can for sure trust it with Sube Shop.
Nice staff, honest about what needs done. They will explain the cost of something versus the value of something cosmetic, so you can decide if you should or shouldn't. Appreciate their truthfulness as a woman because many places will upcharge and tell you things need replaced or fixed when they assume you don't know any better. Dishonesty only loses my business. Will return to the Sube Shop for my future vehicle needs.
Excellent shop! The gentleman and his wife that own it are down to earth and caring. My wife had many questions about the repair, both took the time to help her understand what needed to be done and the upfront cost. Their rates are on par with other local shops. They were quick to look at our vehicle and get us an estimate.
People saying this is a reliable shop obviously have never been to quality mechanic. Had a trans swap done, they messed up installation which had to be fixed by a different shop, told them to inspect transmission mounts and replace if there was wear. They didn’t and the mounts where replaced and the original issue I brought my car in was fixed by a new shop. After they swapped the transmission they said everything was fine, obviously it wasn’t the same shuddering issue I brought my car in was still there. So either they never tested their work or didn’t care. Had two oil changes done, and neither time the oil was filled to the appropriate levels (no oil leaks), they didn’t replace the plastic screws to secure the access panel to the oil filter and drain the last time they worked on it so I had to purchase a whole undercarriage rock guard. They over filled every tire by 10psi when they replaced tires and torqued lugs way over spec.
Oh also told me I would have my car back originally in a week, took them 3+ weeks, left me stranded for two major holidays and no way to get home.
Would give them zero stars if I could.
The Sube Shop is the real deal - these guys have treated me like family and have made sure that my car and I are taken care of no matter what. I have some car anxiety (like anyone who doesn’t really know much about cars) whenever something goes wrong with my car and all the guys at the sube shop are always quick to make sure I understand the issue and how to go about fixing it, while remaining compassionate and understanding. They are super, super honest and when they give you a quote/issue, you can trust that it is accurate and reasonable. Brandon, his dad, the woman at the front office and the rest of the crew have gone above and beyond for me and my car. I tell everyone I know to go to the sube shop, and will continue taking my Forester here for as long as it lasts (hopefully another 100k miles)! Accurate, reliable, reasonably priced, and honest work with good people behind the scenes. Wish I could give them 10 stars or more!
I recommend them for anyone who does not know much about cars - we all know some shops will take advantage if they suspect ignorance, but not The Sube Shop! I've been bringing my car here for four years and hope to never have to go anywhere else. I don't think I could find another business with as friendly and knowledgeable staff. No matter the damage, they've always been able to fix my car for good rates. Most importantly, they've always made me feel comfortable!
Here it is 4th of July and we are from the Baltimore area and broke down. AAA towed us here and Mark took it into the shop as soon as we arrived, diagnosed it, got the part pronto and fixed it!! Did I mention today is July 4th, middle of the afternoon. This is God's work right here!
Our family has been taking our Subes here for years. They always do great work at reasonable prices. They've taken the time to throw in little extras for free: paint from a minor fender bender on the bumper cleaned off, replaced the battery in my key fob, tightened up my air intakes so my car would stop stalling. I trust them and they take care of me.
My kiddo accidentally put kerosene in my car instead of unleaded gas while taking a trip to Maryland. The car was towed to Sube Shop, about 30 miles away. Even though they had a full schedule, they took the time to squeeze us in and had the car running in about 24 hours. Brandon was great as he took the time to explain to me what services he performed and made sure the car was safe to drive. He could of very easily taken advantage of our situation, but instead he was honest, thorough and charged us a fair price. We have not had any issues with the car since. Thank you!

Amazing service. Nice down to earth people, and easy to work with. My car was fixed faster than they thought, and cheaper. Brandon worked with me on the price, and got my car running again. Can’t thank them enough.
I always know where to go for Subaru-specific stuff because these guys have had my back 100% of the time. They're personable, funny, and super knowledgeable. You pay a little more for parts and labor, but not as much as the dealership. (The guys here are arguably better qualified, if you ask me.) You truly get what you pay for here, which is superb, unmatchable quality, EVERY time.
I could not recommend this shop enough! As a woman (without much car knowledge) I have 100% been taken advantage of at other shops...not this one! For over a year I’ve been taking my Toyota Rav 4 to different shops because multiple lights keep coming on and no one really fixed the problem. But a few months ago I had my front brakes replaced, coil packs and few filters. The price came in at much lower than what was quoted because they were able to fix it faster than they thought. Instead of over-charging me and “finding other issues” (much like situations that have happened to me before) I paid less for the best quality work I have had on the car in well over a year. They were the ONLY shop to truly pinpoint the issue and fix it. They are now my go-to for all things car related.
We were passing through from NY to the Western U.S. and our Subaru broke down in Morgantown, WV. We were lucky enough to run into some people who highly recommended the Sube Shop. They were fantastic, quick, and so generous with all they did to help us get back on the road quickly and with not too much damage to our finances. We are very thankful we found them and are so grateful for their help. Fantastic group of people!!
The Sube Shop recently replaced my head gaskets after a timing belt failure at 84,000 miles. Although other mechanics that have looked at my bill say their pricing was reasonable, it took 2.5 weeks to complete the work and they failed to complete the job. They forgot to put the air intake duct back in place along with another engine belt cover.... (found them in the trunk of my car), forgot to clean the throttle plate so that the idle with the new heads would sync with the car, and put in inferior GREEN antifreeze to the Sube Blue, which is recommended by Subaru of America. Cleaning up these oversights cost me an additional $250.00. Not what I was expecting.....I really liked them, but found these problems to greatly diminish the quality of the repair work done.
This shop has done excellent work on several occasions for me. They replaced my exhaust system on my 01 3.0L for only 60 bucks after I paid for the parts myself. Which saved me around 2000 dollars. They also gave me a fair price on repairing my oil leak (2 valve gaskets broke) which was around 350ish. When the Suncrest Auto wanted almost 700 dollars. They are personable and entertaining to talk to, they also are good at explaining any issues that come up with owning a Subaru to those who are not car savvy.
Very accommodating and honest. The local dealership mentioned my vehicle had a number of issues and was due particular maintenances. I took a chance, listened to friend's advice and tried my luck with The Sube Team. So glad I did! All my work and maintenance will go to this crew henceforth. Thanks!
I recently took my '07 Forester there for repairs, and they are awesome. An oil leak started shortly after I bought the car, and it turns out the dealer I bought it from did some really shoddy work on it. The guys at Sube Shop fixed it right up and its running better than ever. I'll be going here for maintenance as long as I live in the area!
Brandon and his crew have always done a stellar job on the Subarus we've owned throughout the years, they are the only place I would let work on my STI no question.

Incredible. The owners stayed late to help out my dad who was passing through and had transmission trouble with his Outback. These guys are the best. They bent over backward to accommodate a traveler in distresses.. not many shops will do that these days.

The Sube Shop is the place to go if you’re a Sube owner. I highly recommend going here and not to The local dealer if at all possible. After having The local Subaru dealer get grease all over the interior of my car after having a recall issue taken care of I will avoid them at all costs. Brandon and his crew at the Sube shop know their stuff. Anytime I have a problem I go straight to these guys, Brandon ha helped me on multiple occasions fixing parts and finding me parts for me to put on myself. This is A+ customer service, they help you out any way they can and don’t try to screw you over. For knowledge and the best personal interactions as far as car repair I strongly suggest the Sube Shop.
It’s been a long time since I have been to the Sube shop but I always wish I could find another mechanic and used car dealer where I live now. I bought a used Subaru from them when I moved to Morgantown for college. It did me well during my time there. After about 6 months the engine went out on me on a trip back to Morgantown from DC. My engine was luckily still under warranty and they replaced it at no cost to me. I sold them back my Subaru when I moved. The original owner of the Sube shop had sold his company to his employees. They are great guys and really care about their customers. I’m really glad they ended up buying it from the original owner because they are fantastic!
Due to having two jobs, I need my car! Cole and the rest of the employees went out of their way to be sure my car was fixed immediately, but yet they made sure it was fixed correctly! They explained everything they were going to do and made sure I understood what they were doing (I am not the most car savy person). Yet they never treated me like some shops do - taking advantage of my lack of knowledge.
I HIGHLY recommend the Sube Shop!
I write this review while sitting in the waiting area of their shop. To keep this short and sweet I will simply say that it is rare in this day and age to cross paths with people in the automotive world that are a combination of being knowledgeable, priced reasonably, and MOST importantly are genuine in nature. I drove 80 plus miles for work to be done and doubt I'll ever look to another shop as long as I'm a subaru owner...
