Communication was a bit lacking as they said a few times they'd call me back but I would just wait until 30 minutes before they closed to call them back for the couple days they had my car, they still picked up and communicated everything they needed to tho which I appreciate. Other than that I got my brakes replaced, oil change done, and a sunroof drain unplugging and it was reasonably priced. As a younger woman I get stressed that I might get taken advantage of but I didn't get that vibe here which is nice.
Very nice people! I was needing brakes urgently when I was 2 and half hours away from home for my girlfriends doctor appointments at Mary Baab Cancer center. They fixed my brake problem quickly and very friendly place! I will be back for sure if I have car problems while being in the Morgantown area! Thanks guys!
We took our son's car to Shorty Anderson's shop after reading great reviews, and they did not disappoint. They were incredibly helpful and honest in addressing the issues with his car. The repair costs were very reasonable, and the turnaround time was excellent. It’s reassuring to know that we have a trustworthy garage for our son while he's away at school.
I took my car there in March of 2024. I am just now getting my car back and its not even fixed by any employee at Shorty Anderson's. I contacted the shop 21 seperate times, each time with either no answer, their phone lines being disconnected, or them saying they will call me back with no return call ever. The owner blatantly ignored my phone calls, but would answer if I called from a different number. I also called before taking my vehicle here to see if there was a fee for it to sit there while I got the money for it to be fixed, they originally told me no. When my car was finally retrieved, and wasnt even fixed, they said they wanted to charge me for every day it was on their lot. Very unprofessional and the employees are rude, over the phone and in person. Do not take your vehicle here for any repairs.
this is the WORST place to take your car! not only is this man very unprofessional, he is rude and nasty. After not being able to diagnose the issues, he ignored every attempt to contact him. Once i was able to get my car to another shop. they opened the hood and my belt was laying on top, sliced. “it’s a clean cut” in the words of the new shop that received my car. On top of that, he tore the license plate off, breaking the brackets. And is now with holding the plate. Along with taking the catalytic converter. I have never had a worse experience with a mechanic. Go anywhere else and you and your car will be taken care of. DO NOT TRUST YOUR BUSINESS WITH THIS MAN.
I Have taken my car there 3xs in less than 2 weeks with no fixing. First time was to have the egr valve replaced about a month ago. They told me “eh, it’s ok. If you have more problems, bring it back and we’ll take care of it” well 2 weeks ago I went back. Told them the problem was getting worse, scheduled last Friday to have the part they already diagnosed fixed. This was 4 days after I scheduled and after they looked at it. I rescheduled to Monday. They said it’d be 200-300 job and 2 hr fix, starting at 830. I heard nothing so I called at noon only to find out they “didn’t have the part in stock” so they did nothing. I asked when they would have it, they said they’d “call me back soon” 430, no call so I call them at 452 and I’m told “oh my brother just went on a test drive, when he gets back, he’ll call you”. Nobody called me. I called the next day around noon to be told the part is expected Thursday (today). So I drop it off at 8. Call at 330 today to check if it’s ready and after being on hold for 13 mins, I’m told they ordered the wrong part. Instead of calling me to tell me that, they made me think it was ready. I say this has been going on 2 weeks now, I need my car to get to work. He just shrugged his shoulders n said “nothing I can do about it “. I said you need to make this right-you ordered the wrong part n it’s been 2 weeks now. He just kept saying not my fault, can’t do anything about it. Tried blaming Subaru dealer for ordering the wrong part. But yet he told them what part to order. Also, very sketchy, said he doesn’t order from the dealer 5 mins down the road-no he orders “from a guy” in Pittsburgh and refused to give me any information on him. Never once an apology. I called the dealer begging for help, was told they haven’t done any business with them for a looooooong time, was referred to sube shop. The cost that shortys gave me was $1,052 and another week of my car there waiting on a part. Sube shop not only had it in stock, but able to do it tomorrow morning and gave me a price of $135!!!! Part and labor. Shorty’s overcharged me almost 8xs. Do NOT go here. They aren’t there at 8 when they should be open. They stroll in around 810. They never call you when they say they will. They order the wrong parts then tell you the part needs fixed asap. These are horrible people. 2 weeks and 3 visits and nothing done yet never once an apology. They are incompetent, inconveniencing, so called mechanics. I chose them bc of good reviews, but this was my first and very last time going here. I’ll hitchhike before I take anything to them again. Recent reviews aren’t great. They over charge big time, incompetent mechanics, and they never call you or know anything when you call to check on your car.
Just moved to Morgantown. Had the good fortune to meet Travis and have him do some much needed repair to my Chrysler. Would give him more stars if I could. Work done correctly and at a reasonable price. Will be my mechanic from here on in.
Complete scumbags. I took my car in a couple months ago to replace the radiator only to find out now that the radiator was never replaced, let alone inspected. My car has been having problems ever since I took it there. Steer clear of this place because you will be scammed if you are too trusting/naïve.
Called ahead and arranged to have my son's car worked. Only reading reviews online, trusted this was an honest and good shop...and they were right! Had my son's car up and running at what I considered minimal expense. Thanks for the great service!
called not knowing exactly what i needed but knew i needed brakes and rotors. they checked my car beforehand to make sure they knew what was wrong before just charging me full price for doing half a job like most shops would’ve done since i’m a young girl. only needed the front brakes and rotors but needed a caliper as well. he ordered the part and even stayed after the shop was supposed to close just so i could get my car fixed before taking a long 10 hour trip. they even let me doordash food and eat while i waited there for 6 hours (part took 4 hours to arrive). they did a wonderful job! they were super informative and even told me i should replace my tire and showed me WHY i needed a new one. it would’ve been dangerous to take a 10 hour drive on that tire! if i didn’t relocate i would definitely go to them every time i needed work done on my vehicle. 10/10
All we needed was an inspection sticker after Travis inspected our truck. Travis wouldn’t answer the phone, we couldn’t get a sticker- Travis even left on a vacation when he was supposed to give us our truck back. We drove to the business numerous times since no one would answer the phone and Travis thought it was funny that he still didn’t have stickers after 3 weeks. We’ve been loyal customers for more than 40 years but this lack of communication, consideration and concern for his customers will have us never returning again. We r sorry Rod and Ernie put their trust in Travis to continue such a trusted and valuable Morgantown business.
Had my car taken here when my alternator went out. Told me it would be done without a few days, 3 weeks go by and they hardly answer the phone, and when you do get ahold of them they put you on hold for like 20 minutes then hang up. I’m a college student so I had no other way around campus. Hands down the worst communication from a company I’ve ever dealt with, finally got my car out and took it somewhere else, please don’t bring your vehicles here.
Be careful. Took my car in due to check engine light. I was told my supercharger was toast and it was going to cost 1,500+. I said no, I want a second opinion. Charged me a diagnostic fee (not disclosed) when I picked it up “keeping my keys hostage”. Took the car to the Ford dealer and the repair real repair was 300 bucks, and that’s “dealer” pricing. I won’t be going back here.
Like a typical college student, my daughter didnt listen to me when I told her to get her car repaired when she had plenty of time before she started school and would not be driving much. Instead, she decided she was going to come home for the weekend and needed her car repaired the day before departure, hours before the shop closed. Of course, dad had to call to make arrangements for the work to be done.
We had asked someone that worked at the university what repair shop he would recommend and Shorty Anderson was his only suggestion.
Well, I called and explained the situation and fortunately the gentleman I spoke with was able to work my daughters car in.
When she picked it up the next afternoon, the repair was complete and the car rode smoothly. When I spoke to her about the bill, I was relieved that the charge was very reasonable.
As a concerned father who is not local to Morgantown, it is a relief to know there appears to be a reliable and fair shop that can be depended on when needs arise.
I will definitely send my daughter back to Shorty Anderson's for future needs while she is at school.
Took my car to get it inspected, no stickers. I had them check it out anyway. Extremely unprofessional and a lack of communication, the shop should figure out what’s wrong and quote me the price to fix it. Instead I had to constantly follow up, which was only possible when they bothered to answer their phone. TLDR: Car was there for three days and all they dead was kill my car battery
Shorty Anderson's is one of my favorite places in Morgantown. Travis is an honest man. It's that simple. I have a long story about how he saved me $600 on a job that was fabricated by a car dealer service center and I've been a loyal customer ever since. Suffice it to say, if it's not broken, he's not going to fix it. If it's broken he's going to fix it for a fair and honest price. Thanks Travis!!!
Shorty's was able to get my car in on pretty short notice. I had previously had an issue with another garage in town not fixing my car after three trips to see them, but Shorty's did awesome! Diagnosed the issue the first day, listened to my concerns, fixed the vehicle, and charged me a fair price. Shorty's has gained a loyal customer out of me.
Travis and the crew are kind, honest, and good at what they do. The best auto repair shop in Morgantown! Sometimes it’s hard to get a hold of them through the phone because they get super busy. My recommendation is to have some patience and go visit in person.
I've taken my car to these guys a few times in the 1.5 years I've been living in Morgantown. They are incredibly honest, they didn't charge me anything for looking at my check engine light. They charge me less than $400 for a timing belt replacement when another dealership quoted me $1,100. And today they charged me $390 for a new alternator and an oil change, which is way less than any price I've found online. These guys are honest and affordable.
I seriously cannot say enough good things about these guys! As a WVU student far from home, I wanted to find an honest and reasonably priced mechanic in the area, and I definitely found that here. Everyone is so friendly and goes to great lengths for their customers. Just this morning I brought my car in for a strange noise, and was told my tie rod needed to be replaced. I mentioned I needed to be at work by 2 in the afternoon, and they said the car would be ready by noon. At around 9:30 (less than two hours after dropping off my car) I got a call saying they made it a priority and it was already done! There have also been a few times I have dropped by due to lights turning on in my car that worried me, and they were able to put my mind at ease or run a quick scan-without charging! All around great guys who do amazing work at a very reasonable price, especially considering the quality you get!
I moved to Morgantown at the beginning of the summer for a doctoral program, and ran into some car problems and needs all summer. Leaving a trusted mechanic in my hometown, I was pretty nervous to find a good one here. After one bad experience, I figured I would give Shorty's a try based on the reviews and first impressions. I 100% would recommend working with him. He has gone above and beyond to try to fix my cars (staying late is one perfect example for today), but he is certainly affordable and reliable. I would be more than happy to give Shorty my business for my two cards over the next 3 years in Morgantown!
Fair prices and good work. However, my experience with them was sub-par. I was told they would perform certain checks on my car, which never happened. They stated (on multiple occasions) they would call me back, but never did. When I did talk to them on the phone, I was interrupted when asking about repairs and felt rushed to get off the phone. Also, they said that they would call when my car was finished, but never did and each time I decided to just go there instead of waiting and my car was finished (for who knows how long). It took three days to replace a mirror even with an appointment. Still waiting to hear about an estimate for another issue. The thing that really upset me was they broke my door pocket (keep CDs and such in), but never told me. I had to find out on my own when all of my things fell out when I opened the door. After having to put back all the things they removed from it.
I came to have my power steering pump replaced, which was replaced once by dinsmoore and put a bad part on.. Shorty’s employees were very friendly and professional. They replaced it and the car came out in great shape. Very good prices and trustworthy people. Will be back to have repairs done here and only here!
Definitely the best place in Morgantown for auto service. They are honest and hard working people and I always get my car back that day when I take it in when they first open. As a female, I've gone to places for auto service in Morgantown and leave spending thousands of dollars to fix things I later find out weren't a problem. I never have to worry about that with Shorty Anderson's & my husband has liked their auto services here too. They never start working on your car without authorization first. Best place and very nice employees.
Great people and great service! We have had such bad experiences with shops ripping us off with non-existent problems; Shorty Anderson's checked our breaks, free of charge, because we thought they needed replaced when they could have just charged us for new ones. They took the time to inspect and explain the possible issues.
My son recently came back to Morgantown to move from one apartment to another. While he was there the starter went out in the car he was driving. Just three month prior I had replaced the starter that I got from a nationally known parts store. I looked online and found Shorty Anderson's place. I called and spoke to them and they recommended a tow company and we got the car over there. This was a Thursday afternoon. My son then came home to Va. using another vehicle. We both figured it would be a few days before the car was ready.
To our pleasant surprise we got the call the next day that the car was ready. Shorty's even called the same nationally known part store and gave them my # and they looked it up, got the starter covered under warranty. Shorty's didn't have to do that and it shows that they are there to help their customers. My total bill included the tow bill and it was very reasonable. When I told them that it might be a week to 10 days before we could get back to pick the car up. Shorty said that would be fine. Whatever time we needed and the car would safe.
As a parent, we just want to know our kids are safe and that in a pinch somebody trustworthy is there to help them. Shorty Anderson's has more than earn our trust. My son now knows who to call in Morgantown for all his vehicle needs.
One of my cars developed a break issue while my son had it at college. Because I am out of town, I expected the worst. I admit that I was surprised by the great service. Shorty's only fixed what was needed and charged a very fair price. I was expecting some amount of rip off (extra unnecessary repairs, padded labor hours, etc.). That never happened. And they got it done when they said they would.
