Went there for the first time yesterday and had a great experience. The staff there are all very nice and helpful. The process is extremely easy. Highly recommend them.
I had a wonderful experience today recycling steel at Potomac Metals Inc. The wonderful woman who checked me in ran me through the whole process when I told her this was my first visit. Two men unloaded all my metal for me. Checking out and collecting my money was also a breeze! Huge thanks to everyone over at Potomac Metals Inc. You are doing a great job and are making an important positive impact.
THEY ARE SCAMMERS do not go here if you actually want what your metal is worth, they attempted to reach out, but just argued with me over the phone even after showing what they did wrong. Or maybe three 3-ton ac units all stripped down and organized by metal was only worth $180. They keep burying the bad reviews because they’re the only true ones. They even “like” their own review responses to make it seem like they’re making things right when they never do. ABSOLUTE DISGRACE
This place is well organized and helpful. Every step of the way there is someone to assist. You simply drive up on the scale, get your weight checked, drive in a loop to drop off your metal, and then re-check your wieght. When you are done they hand you a ticket, that you take inside a nearby building. You scan it, and the money they pay you for automatically comes out of a machine. So efficient.
THEY WILL CHEAT YOU IF THEY THINK THEY CAN. I brought TWO of my old outdoor AC units all broken down and organized so I could get the most out of them. But the guy working there with a broken arm only gave me $180 saying “none of this is copper” and that the coils weren’t worth anything that there just heavy chunks of steel. Now I know I should be more aware of what I have but that doesn’t make him blatantly cheating me okay. After talking to many AC and scrap guys and finding out how much that was worth I was pissed. He happily shorted me over $200 and couldn’t care less. DO NOT TAKE YOUR RECYCLE METAL HERE!!!!
After hauling into this yard for years knowing they are open til 5 they recently changed their policy and no longer take customers after 4:45.
I pulled in a 4:48 and has sent away with my load.
Attendant has always been great and a few of the guys are wonderful. But the rest are always grumpy.
They say they pay 10 per hundred until you start bring in 25 tons a day then it's oh we dock for large items. I'll haul 2 hours away before I come back. Very very unprofessional way to treat the people who actually make a living hauling metal to them
They look for ways to cut your price they only want to flip a profit. Scales are not accurate at all. The large scale is of by 500 pounds I took a load of shredder steel to a scale and had it weighed do to suspicion of the scales being off and I was correct the large scale said I was 500lbs lower than I was there main priority is not customer service its profit over everything. STAY AWAY
Worst place to go if your looking to get top dollar for your scrap. They nickel and dime you on everything. Tried to only give me 18 bucks for a diesel truck radiator. Took it to martinsburg scrap and they gave me 90 bucks. Definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND! they dont care about you as a customer and they only want to flip a profit off you
"5 star experience start to finish" and well worth the hour drive! I had questions, so i posted to FB for advice on what type of material i had and where i should go. James Abrams reached out to me on his own... right away I was impressed with his candor and friendliness thru the MANY messages back and forth as he helped me identify the type of metal I had and where I should go.. He had even notify Debbie and Harry ahead of time that I was coming
All in all it impressed me and made me feel Potomac Metals in Ranson WV valued my business.
I met with Harry as I was to ask for, he was super nice and helpful. He walked me through each step of the way and even explained how I can earn points every time I come to their establishment.

This place is aways good. The people are friendly and very, very helpful. The prices are very competitive. I'd go out of my way to come here, but luckily their in my back yard. Keep up the great work!
Always a pleasure to take metal scrap to this location. They make the process easy and staff is always friendly and helpful. Only started going here a few months ago helping a neighbor cleanup his property. Every time I go with different items they explain where to go and offer advice to get the best price. Staff gets an A plus for customer service!
Man, it's just like free money. You load up your truck with metal junk laying around. Drive on the scales, nice lady greets you, ask your name, follow the signage. They help you unload, go back to the scales, she gives you a slip, go to their money machine and money just shoots out of that thing! Free money!
Brought 16 Lbs of copper sheeting, never done scrapping before, got there and told them that hoping they'd show me how to do it correctly or just be nice for my first time, yea I was wrong, they put the sheet down as being "light copper". Went home and did some research, that's stuff that's beat up and blemished, mine was clean and folded. Again I could be wrong bc I have no idea ?♂️ but I'm definitely not going there again.
As people has said great staff and friendly but the one thing I dont like about this business is the fact you get two different prices on junking cars one for whole car or one for car missing peaces that is not really right cause simple fact is if your bring a BMW in there at x amount per hundred lbs with converters still under it your giving them pretty much close to 200 dollars worth convertors at few dollars a hundred so your losing money and not benefiting from it all the other yards I go to pay you the same price across the board no matter if its whole or not .....and I'm not just saying this cause I'm a recycling business I'm saying this to just be honest about the matter
Best prices for scrap in the area- the staff at the Ranson location is so nice and helpful! There hours are accommodating and their location is easy to get to from main highway. Debbie in the office always knows you by name once you been there a few times. The workers are like family - cracking jokes and just a fun atmosphere. I like that they have customer appreciation picnics and are always at the local events handing out free swag! I love my Potomac Metal Shirts!!! Thank you guys for being so freaking awesome!!!

I stop by here with regular small loads and the occasional large load of scrap metal (they take computers too). Efficient and friendly with competitive prices. It was a little unclear the first time where exactly to pull in.
People here are very nice, always smiles and happy to help unload. Prices on most stuff is pretty much in line with other places. Don't bring cat converters here though, I always get 2x+ going elsewhere. My only complaint is closing times because I've showed up several times 10-15 min before closing and the gate is already shut. Everywhere else I know of closes the gate at posted closing times... This is one of 4 scrapyards that I use regularly

I can honestly say i've never felt like I was treated bad or felt like I was being robbed, and for a scrap yard (sorry for the pawn shop type of review) that's huge in my book !!
