What clients say about Z Recyclers Inc. in Lynden (WA)

I accompanied my son at lunchtime today as he dropped off his old car for scrap. What a quick transaction, and a well run machine. From rolling onto the scale, to processing the paperwork afterwards, everything was as smooth and well-run as could be. Friendly staff (from the initial phone call to make sure we were OK just to show up, to the forklift driver who plucked the car off the trailer, to the guy handling the final transaction by the front counter - everyone was friendly and decent) and a tidy facility. No wonder Z Recyclers is such a well known name in the county.

Huge shout-out to Z's for the smooth process of getting my car to the scrap pile! Very friendly service, and very easy to work with them.

I brought in some.scrap metal and 1 item of scrap i brought in to scrap was a axle. I didn't know that there was a drain on the axle. But when I was told that there was the guy said that the drain fee was $10. When I went into the office to collect my money they charged me $20. People say that Z RECYCLING has shorted many people in the past and still does. Now I feel like it just happened to me. Charging double is completely wrong and very dishonest. I don't know if I will ever go back and I will never recommend anyone to go to Z Recycling again. Very bad business.

I like that they sell stuff many scrap yards won't, I got a nice cordwood saw and Knaack boxs from the I like you can buy metal scraps you can also actually find stuff since the yard is nice and neat
The yards I used to go to in another state are absolutely insane places compared to Z
The employees are nice there was one grouch but hes been gone for yearsOct 01, 2025 -
These guys are great. They always have a great selection of metal scraps at great prices.

I've been to Z Recyclers about a half a dozen times so far and I've only ever received friendly and helpful customer service. I'm a beginner bladesmith and the staff have been very supportive of my new hobby. It's nice feeling such great costumer service, even for a small time buyer such as myself. On one of my visits I found the coil spring, pictured, and turned it into my first sword. I will definitely be back to Z Recyclers!

Very unprofessional, very rude, and very difficult to deal with. One employee just randomly started going on about Trump and started talking about getting rid of everyone who doesn’t support him. I don’t generally look to mix politics (or whatever that was) with my recycling . There are other options.

Reality is you can get some very nice metal from the yard at a good price. I will probably spend a lot of money here over the years in the yard.
There is one thing to note about how this business operates. The scales are meant to be in and out. The idea is when a customer comes up big or small they can get in and out and next up can go. "Keep it moving"
I think the idea is it can get backed up really fast so they just stay really on it. Get in, get out. It's how the flow works. I guess kinda like the grocery store. You don't want to be the guy who takes 10 minutes at self checkout fumbling around with 4 items. It makes sense really.
So if you go to the yard, and are unsure on what you want, leave the uncertainty on the yard.
Make sure you have exactly what you want before you go back to the scale. It's just how it is, and it makes sense. They want customers to know they can get in and out and onto their business.
Knowing that, pick the yard at your will, but make sure you decide in the yard. Once you drive off the yard you have made your choice. There's some gold out there in that yard, at least for scrap dogs like me.
Thanks.Nov 11, 2023 -
Called and spoke with someone named Kevin and had questions about what types of metal I can bring in but was very rude and standoffish. Won’t recommend

Great employees, I have always had a great experience when calling in with questions, scraping metal, and purchasing new metal. Z's is the best around. Thanks guys!

Ive only been here a few times and has been a good experience all times and those that want to bring a big load of stuff in at ten minutes to closing time shouldnt expect top prices

As a 30 year resident of Whatcom County, I’m extremely underwhelmed with the customer service at the front desk. They know they’re a monopoly, they have their big customers (refineries, industrial, ag) so they can get away with treating the little guy poorly. Be better. Many of the employees are from smaller local communities that know who they are. Disappointing.

The guys in the yard are so rude and impatient. First time there and I didn't know how their system works or where to drive to to unload and they sure didn't want to take the time to assist me and were quiet angry to be inconvenienced to do so. Very disappointed.

I have noticed something about this company. When a disagreement or misunderstanding happens between customers and the sales people,
a kind of indifference follows. The people that work here can use better people skills. Just the few times I have been here, I have noticed several customers going away bitter. Sometimes with the same refrain. Seems the company uses any reason at all to benifit from a Misunderstanding. The people in the front office don't seem to mind sending away people feeling sore about their transaction. This Z company seems to be a multi million dollar company. Would it really hurt their bottom line if they maybee gave a little more consideration to the little people. Their is one person in the front office in particular that I would have retrained or fired.
He is just a hater. It's Not Kevin. I used to like this place. Not now.Jun 10, 2021 -
Friendly and helpful staff, and they have lots and lots of cool stuff. They sell not only recycled metal, but also new material and also buy scrap metal and dead cars. You never know what you will find wandering around in the yard!

We received excellent customer service, especially from the gentlemen who took our copper and brass. They were very patient and explained to us how to separate the metals. Thank you for exceptional customer service!

This place is amazing! Not only do they have great stuff, but the guys that work there are super helpful and solution oriented. I am so appreciative of their help. They even referred me when they didn’t have the tire I needed. Highly recommend going to Z’s!!!

Bought a few things there.
Everything went pretty well.
Prices are fair. People helpful. Good service. More than a scrap yard.Jul 04, 2019 -
Great staff. Great service. They will help you through it the first time if you have not scrapped before. If you have a lot of tin, the guy on the excavator will even hook up a huge magnet and lift it off your trailer for you. They pay you cash right on the spot for tin, copper, mixed copper and aluminum (and probably lots of other stuff) and get you in and out very efficiently.

Came looking for a small amount of scrap brass stock, not the same selection at the hardware store of course, but much cheaper and friendly service.

I've never scrapped a vehicle before and had heard some bad stories about scrapyards. But Z's was courteous, honest and prompt. I would recommend them to anyone needing to scrap.

I don’t know what you guys are trying to portray but, "kind" yeah right! "Courteous" flipping sure... My husband lost his job today and we needed to pay our water bill the only way we could do it was to sell parts from his collection of go-carts and whatever we could find ... our child is ill and they flippin’ ripped him off... he took in an electric engine (45pnds) and it had a little tiny piece of metal sticking out of it... which I’m sure they could have been “nice” and cut it off for him, but nooo, it could've paid our water bill this month and put a cushion on our water bill for next month but the total they gave my husband was 18 dollars. We called ahead and they said an electric engine would be 35 cents a pound. The engine was 45 pounds. And they ripped us (including my child) off and gave him a 10 cent rate for the engine and now we don’t have water. THANK YOU Z's for your "kind, Courteous, and honest scales" from a house wife, saving cans now to take to SCRAPIT!
