I went into this trip with an open mind and zero expectations. When I entered the cabin I was immediately greeted with a view of the water at sunset that made me understand why this place is so great. It's a location where you can unplug from technology and go back to the simple joys. With good company this place is amazing. There is an excellent playground here that also has a ping pong table and horshoes so there are games for the adults too. Walking along the beach is very relaxing at low tide and at high tide it feels like the water is right at the edge of the cabin. We went during summer so with nice weather we spent a lot of time outside. I can imagine a winter visit would be a lot of fun too sitting inside next to the fire while playing games, reading, or doing puzzles. Overall this was a great stay and I hope to be back soon.
Beach Haven is a unique, beautiful location on Orcas Island with a private, secluded beach and ocean access. We love the rustic, comfortable cabin that has everything you need - a private deck steps away from the ocean and all the wildlife that surrounds us. In our 25 years of visiting, we have come to know and appreciate the hard working and kind staff. Beach Haven is truly a magical place if you want to immerse yourself in the best that Orcas Island has to offer.
I stayed at Beach Haven 42 years ago during an off season, for 3 months. It was one of the formative experiences of my life. I went back to see the resort, show my husband, walk around and reminisce during a recent visit to the islands. We were met with horrified exasperation by the desk clerk, told we were not welcome since we were not paying guests and hustled back into our taxi. All we wanted to do was walk on the beach and just enjoy and were told it was private property and to get out. I was horribly embarrassed. I will not be visiting ever again and will be making sure everyone I know is aware of the elitism that is practiced at this resort.
Literally on the beach. Amazing sunsets. Quiet. Friendly. Remote but close to town. Unplug and relax. Beautiful place to share with family and friends. Highly recommend!!!
We’ve been coming here for over 18 years, both with friends and now with our kids. We love Beach Haven and visit as often as we can, both in the fall and spring. We look forward to every visit and use the time to unplug and relax with each other, exploring tide pools, rowing out to the little island, paddle boarding next to the resident seal, and roasting s’mores at the fire pit. Our kids love the playground and setting up their own “kid” space in the cabin’s loft. We’ve always had an amazing experience here!
Beach Haven Resort is a collection of waterfront cabins on the northwest side of Orcas Island, many of which are either on the water or close to the beach. I brought my family here twice, once long ago and again this past summer, and I was hoping that the resort would provide just as charming a vacation as I remembered. Alas it was not to be. || The cabins are starting to look run down, with rickety furniture, unmatched old restaurant-style utensils, and bad beds and bathrooms; and the staff frankly seemed largely indifferent to the guests. The management consists of two couples, but the head managers are actually gone half the time, taking care of their own motel 100 miles away. The assistant managers were not very helpful, and the whole place looks like they are having trouble keeping staff. Undoubtedly some of these issues are exacerbated by the pandemic, but there seems to be a lack of upkeep and funds to hire and keep competent help. I had high hopes for this vacation, and we did enjoy some great sunsets, but overall the time we spent here was a significant disappointment. In the future we’ll find a place with better facilities and a staff that’s more competent and friendly, even if we have to pay more. I gave the place 3 stars because of the nice beach and views, and they did have play equipment for the kids, but it could just have easily been 2 stars.
We found this place many years ago and absolutely fell in love with it. What a beautiful peaceful place. So relaxing and just when we needed it. This was part of our special getaway trip and was to be the second place after the bed and breakfast - so glad we found this place because it completely blew the water out of that bnb. This is a beautiful place that we will never forget. Enjoy the nighttime views of the lights out on the horizon and try guessing the type of cargo or cruise ships. We love the cabins and the heated bathroom floors. Make reservations and get here for memories that are lifetime.
Once in a while, we visit a place that is so cool I almost don't want to give a review or mention it. This is one of those places. Wow, peace sets in as soon as you arrive. Amazing.
A nice quiet retreat into nature. Cute cabin with full kitchen and furnished with cooking utensils and plates, bowls, cups, and silverware. Bedrooms come with bedding for sleeping and lots of towels in the bathroom. We enjoyed our time here exploring the seaside and listening to the ocean waves at night. Would come back again
These little cabins might be the most charming thing since Tolkien's Shire. They really are right on the water and the porches offer the most beautiful vista for staying in and cooking out (the cabins have Weber grills). Adults should not be worried about staying during the off season (admittedly, it might be more difficult with kids!), but with the roaring wood stove, the dark forest, and the rain on the metal roof, it makes for a very romantic ambience. We stayed in Cabin 2 and could hear the waves right outside all night. Staff could not be nicer and Beach Haven was a real chance to decompress from the world and to just relax. Would recommend it in a heartbeat.
I really cannot say enough good things about this place! I stayed in the Stargazer Cabin and was enjoying every minute. The absolute peace and quiet and unparalleled natural beauty make this an awesome place to be! It's a less than 5 minute drive into Eastsound where you have everything you need! Go now! Don't overthink it!
This was our first time here, but definitely won’t be our last. This is by no means a “fancy” or upscale place, but it’s cozy, and a comfortable place to get away from everything for a few days. The property is beautiful, and the beach is great. There’s free firewood and kayaks/paddle boards to rent etc. We stayed in the Stargazer, which was perfect for a couple wanting to get away and relax for a few days. It had a wood stove, small kitchen, table, and bathroom... with heated floors! It was a great place to stay, definitely will be coming back.
Peace of Heaven
This is a great place to stay with your entire family. Very quite. Cabins are great. No tv too, loved it. Nice fire pits for gathering at nights. Close to store but yet hidden. Lovely staff very accomadating.
We have stayed at Beach Haven over 125 nights over the years and love it every time. If you can stand quiet, comfortable, relaxing, friendly hosts, waterfront, and layed back living you will love Beach Haven. We do!
Oct 2018 will be our third visit. We are hooked.|As the sign says as you depart after a weeks stay “Leaving Beach Haven, entering the world”|But really not that great. I’m sure you wouldn’t like it. Besides, good luck booking one of their cabins. Especially OUR cabin “the Stargazer”|It’s their signature honeymooners cabin (the one and only). Cabins are booked up years in advance especially in Summer months.|GOOD LUCK!
Rustic, quiet, peaceful. Great place to spend time with family to recharge and/or jumping off point for some San Juan style micro adventures (Water journey to Freeman or Sucia, Spiral single track ride off Mt. Constitution)
Beach Haven Resort is a group of old log cabins on the beach on Orcas Island, WA. We have stayed there over 20 times or 125 nights. It is almost exclusive in that you have the opportunity to repeat your stay each year and many, many people do just that. The staff is friendly and maintain the resort very well considering we stay in real log cabins.
We have stayed at Beach Haven over 20 times (over 100 nights) over the last many years. We have enjoyed the heart of summer, early fall and even February. Every time we have experienced perfect relaxation, a beautiful beach, an authentic log cabin, and outstanding customer service from the office and maid service staff. We are going again in September, 2017 and look forward with great anticipation.

Someone's cancellation became our winning lottery ticket to Paradise! We were able to return for a glorious summer week after 7 years' absence, and it was like we never left. Our first stay in cabin 2 and it was perfect, there are no words to describe the joy in our hearts to be back with the eagles, otters, deer, seals and many friends we have missed. To spend time with families we have grown up with over the last 25+ years at Beach Haven was a blessing. Winter trips to Beach Haven are very special, but nothing beats summer! Thank you Justin and Shane for making it happen!
The most peaceful place on earth. We had a wonderful week, Shane and Justin are delightful. Be sure to meet Cricket the Beach Cat and Josie the Assistant Dog. Paddle out for spectacular sunsets every day.
We have made a habit of returning year after year with friends, and each time we leave feeling like we had an amazing vacation. We spent a weekend relaxing, BBQ on the deck, playing on the beach, or hitting the water.
Beach Haven is beautiful. Nice cabins, quiet location, amenities close by. However there is very poor cell reception, which makes it hard to play Pokemon Go.
It has been a number of years since we stayed, and we have stayed twice: once with two kids and grandma and once before the kids were born, with another couple. Collecting rocks, canoing to the island, grilling on the deck inches from the Sound, chopping wood for fun, exploring Orcas Island, and listening to rain on the roof were activities we remember fondly. I didn't quite finish reading Mr. Popper's Penguins to the kids, one of my regrets in life, as they are 'grown' now. We all still talk about those weeks more than a decade later.
