This company has absolutely THE WORST levels of professionalism and customer service I have experienced in years. I had an appointment for removing a broken down vehicle, scheduled a week in advance, even got a call from the driver that morning. He never showed during that time, never even sent so much as a text message to say he was running late or canceling. The office line always goes straight to voice-mail. I wasted 4 hours of my time waiting for their irresponsible and unprofessional driver to show up, and I will NEVER get that time back. Do yourself a favor, and find somewhere else to recycle stuff, unless you really don't have any value for your time.
I visited American yesterday in need of a piece of metal. Despite being incredibly busy, I was given excellent service. Upon my return to their store today, I was greeted with another experience that was very helpful from the outdoor yard (Carl and Joseph) to the office (Amy). Thanks you guys. Great job!
Took 47 lbs of clean aluminum pipe 3” in diameter there. I pre weighed it at my home. Their scale weighed it 10 lbs less at only 37 lbs. gave me .40 cents a pound. Dishonest and low pricing. Will never go there again.

For one the weight master never gave me the weight. He just said he can give me clean sheet aluminum price which is .40 a lb. I weighed the aluminum in a plastic that that weighed 1 1/2 lbs. the same one o brought it in. A black tote with yellow lid. You scale is off or the scale master dishonest. I was asked if I wanted a receipt and I said yes. A receipt should be given no matter what. On my way out the door I seen the weight was 10 lbs off. Not worth my time to go back and argue and re weigh over $4. Just won’t be recycling at your facility anymore.
Great to deal with and super cool bjeld the gate for me so I could get my metal unloaded lait and was cool about it I recommend getting there early so they don't have to wait but they are super understanding and very fair
Horrible place to work with! I had a scheduled tow from 7am to 11am. 1030am comes around and I call them to see if they're still coming. Didn't get any help! The tow truck driver named Tyler calls me and said he'll be there between 12 noon and 1pm. So I waited the extra time. 130 pm rolls around and I call the tow truck driver named Tyler and he said he was at least another hour out. Naive as I was I waited and he still didn't show. I had errands that I had put off that I couldn't put off any longer so I left. I didn't hear anything from Tyler till nearly 4pm at night. Saying he just got to my house! He reached out by text of all things, not even a phone call. Not professional at all. What kind of company are they running here. I will never try to work with this company again. They're liers, manipulators and wasted way to much of my time. Definitely DO NOT reccomend!!
Located next to Bremerton airport it's not much further away than Navy City metal, about 8 minutes. They accept free metal drop off, if that's the way you want to go. If you want to turn in for profit you won't be disappointed. First time going here and I wasn't disappointed. They paid 10 cents higher than Navy City did for yellow brass & copper. They paid 5 cents higher for regular aluminum scrap (leftover turnings and various other aluminum items that were not wire or cans) I know where I'm going again for my scrap metal recycling. On top of that, they had very competitive prices for any scrap metals that you wanted to purchase. They are a lot larger than Navy city, so obviously they have a lot more to pick from. They will pay you upwards of $200 in cash (at least that's what they did for me) and the rest will end up coming to you as a check. No waiting for the check in the mail.
We arrived thirty minutes before closing and then they refused to serve us when we were in need and were extremely rude and told us that we are in the wrong if leave a bad review

My name is Paul I've been a loyal customer for years to American Steel and recycling (about 10yrs or so)
I purchased a set of rims (which I don't think technically or legally they're supposed to sell them off the junk cars) They rang me up took my money and never said anything about all sales final tire shop found that 2 rims were cracked n non usable so I Immediately brought them back They said they could return them but then Ryan Came interjecting and apparently hes in charge because he said no way we won't return that guys rims and what's funny is Ryan has never liked me ..also I was shocked to hear that they don't return anything that everything is as is so I'm stuck with the $200 set of rims that were cracked And basically huge paper weights The day before I watched so Ryan graciously returned a girl's stereo she had bought that wasn't working after she had taken it home and tried it It didn't work so she brought it back 2 days later and got a full refund But out of the other side of ryans neck he said I could turn them back in for $13 Total for all 4 rims that would be $3.** per rims So of course I said I don't want to do that and just left these guys are a great place to go to if you want your children to learn how to do m#th And I'm not talking about a school subject.. Or just flat out get hustled and ripped off, or if you want purchase illegal items including gas or other legal stuff
Navy city metals is a much better choice And they are just located right down the road b Gorst go Talk to Levi he is a much better Is business-minded person..customer beware do not go her!!
Sent my wife to go there to drop off a truck load of stuff. Drove almost 70 miles and drove past multiple scrap yards due to them helping a friend out. Said I would come back for business. I guess their prices are now worse than state average and they "accidentally" forgot to pay her for copper. While the drive is my fault, I would not recommend anybody scrap their stuff at this place. If this is closest then go a couple of extra miles to Navy City Yard. At least then you know your just a number. Otherwise drive to Tacoma, Port Townsend, Pacific anywhere but there. Maybe even drive to the Junkyard in grapeview to see if they would do something. Never again.
I love recycling here. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The prices were much better than their competitors. They have a large scale for driving over and smaller scales for everything else. I’ve been coming for years and haven’t had any issues.
They close at 4:30pm but close the gate at 4:15 to ensure you’re taken care of before they close.
They answered all of my questions, paid us that day and even helped us unload our scrap. The whole experience was super easy
Dumped some steel and stripped copper wire here for the first time today and got paid pretty well. Staff was nice and helpful, even after I put my steel in the wrong pile like a dummy and had to go back and move it lol
Pretty disappointed by the way I was treated here. These people are not concerned about how far you had to go to get there, or how much they're screwing up your day by turning your business away 15 minutes before closing time. Why should they care?
We arrived at 4:15 on the nose and were told it was too late to offload our scrap.
**If you don't accept customers after 4:15, you should state that clearly on your website!**
I know I wouldn't have wasted my time driving all the way to Port Orchard if I had known it was going to be for nothing, especially now that gas is over $5 a gallon!!

One of the most sketch places I've ever recycled. Wouldn't allow me to verify the weight they were telling me. Guy wouldn't allow me to take a picture of the garbage cans full of copper on the scale. Got pist off that I even pulled my phone out while he was weighing it. One of the least professional experiences I've ever been apart of. I'll never bring anything to you guys again. Nor will I ever recommend anyone to recycle with you guys. Nothing but shady.
great service, fast unload, they even loaned me a broom to clean off my trailer, I am pretty sure they have the best prices in this area, I will keep going here for sure.
First time using this facility, it came with high recommendations by those I know in the Kitsap Destruction Derby for best place to bring scrap. If anyone knows where to get rid of used parts its them. I was unsure of the procedure here, but as I entered I was greeted by someone about what I was hauling, He explained about the scale as there is no attendant near it, just him in the front shack. I was also informed where I needed to unload for the type of scrap I had. After getting my slip from him I proceeded to the front office to get reimbursed for my metal. They request only one person inside at a time, and you need your Drivers License and Vehicle license plate number. Fairly quick and friendly, I had my check and was on my way.
Looked like the employees were having a good time, which shows they taken care of and enjoy their time there.

Really awesome place with great guys! Fair prices for parts. But enter the yard at your own risk. It's your responsibility to be safe when around heavy machinery
Best place in the area that we've found for metal recycling. The crew was super helpful - used a claw to remove an engine block from a trailer that took four adults to load! agreed with another reviewer - best prices in the area. If you have scrap metal, go to these guys!
theyve come from port orchard all the way to port hadlock and picked up junk cars from me on several occasions. they were always quick to schedule pickups, the driver was very nice and very knowledgeable and knew exactly what he was doing, and i was happy to get some cash for my cars. will continue doing business with them. very satisfied
I had an incident on the highway with one of the American Northwest Recycling trucks. A piece of scrap metal came out the trailer, hit the pavement, and bounced right onto the windshield of my new truck. I contacted the company and was put into contact with Jason. I explained the situation to Jason and he was very helpful with repairing my windshield. I was anticipating a hassle but Jason was very professional and took care of issue right away. Easy company to work with with great customer service.
Great place of business, people are polite,very knowledged, and helpful. I've been going here for years and refuse to go anywhere else. Always leave pleased.
Called yesterday and set up an appointment for today to get my old car picked up. The receptionist was nice and pleasant to work with. Got called early this morning and shortly after he was here to pick it up! Super nice people I'd definitely recommend them.
I've been here dozens of times and always have had a positive experience dealing with the folks of American Northwest Recycle.
They always treat me with respect and are very helpful when it comes to sharing their knowledge of recycled materials. I usually leave with a smile because the gentlemen who usually run the scales are hilarious with their commentary. They definitely have earned my business for life... Or ya know, until they tell me to not come back any more! ;)

this would be a great place to bring your metal in to recycling except for a no good drug using employe by the name of steve hall he took me aside and told me if i ever need to get rid of any stolen cars to "bring them here" then said when he is working the scales if i throw him a good tip he will lie and give me a good price! i couldn't believe this guy was telling me this! i was complete stranger! a customer!
