They didn't have the part I needed, but Ernie was great and helped my find it at another yard that he recommended. Super helpful and nice (which is a *huge* compliment in this business). 10 out of 10 would recommend.
I'm assuming it's the owner that I spoke with beyond rude!! If I could give 0 stars, I absolutely would. The guy told me he didn't have what I was after before. I even told him what kind of vehicle I had.
He scoffed at me over the phone when I asked him if I could run a list of compatible vehicles by him to see if he had any as if. I was a nuisance.

Very thankful they are open on Saturdays. Ran into an issue with a job and needed an engine instead of just cylinder heads and they already had the engine I needed pulled and on a shelf and they had it down on the ground ready for me to come get. After installation my customer said it’s never ran that great before. Just wanted to thank you for having good quality engine’s and other parts readily available and at a great price. Will definitely be back to get something else for the next job.
Customer service was terrible. Talking with an employee over the phone today and they were not helpful. Employee informed me that they will contact me back today to see if they can find the parts. Did not receive any response about the part.
Called them a few days ago. They had the parts. Verified it. I was coming down from Vancouver island. About a 12hr round trip with all the driving and ferry crossings. Had the parts ready to go. Smooth transaction. Very pleasant to deal with.
So we called like a couple of yards in the area. Only these guys called back. They tried to find what I needed, only thing they could find was not what I needed. So then they said come on by, take a look. Bottom line? My daughter had the experience of seeing a real-life wrecking yard, of years gone past. Nowadays ait seems like nobody is allowed past the front gate. They let my daughters take a look in the yard. Busted glass dirty dirt all around. No waiver no don't touch. Just be careful and don't feed the dog. This is a tru legend, of the good old days. Walk in talk, take a look around. Find it or not, ask how much? Maybe dicker a bit, settle on the price. And then remember that it's places like this that helped build America.
This place is by appointment only. Most cars on the lot look like they've been there for decades. Cars are double stacked so be careful. Cars are not stored in any particular order, they are all over the place.
I called these guys about a transmission for my truck... after multiple times, of me asking about a transmission for my truck... they called me back with an offer. They told me they could fix or rebuild my transmission and have it back to me within a week. 2 months later, after waiting for them to call me and tell me what was wrong, which they didn't at all... i would call them and they would tell me theyd call me back and let me know what was wrong with it. they finally called me and told me they couldn't fix it. I went and picked it up, thinking they put it back together... he'll no. It's all in pieces, and now.. no one will touch it and they won't take it as a core... seems to me lawyers are gonna get a call. Do not have them rebuild anything for you. Oh, and they charged me an inspection fee of 65 dollars... for what... you to tear apart my transmission and leave it like that. Now I'm out my transmission and my truck... thanks alot for nothing.
Went here with my cousin after he got sideswiped. called them at 4:30pm on a Saturday, showed up at 5pm after they were closed, and they gave us a car door for a minimal fee, and took the old smashed door, even after close. Highly Recommend.
To the point. Had what I needed. I should have haggled a bit though. He charged me 3 times the price I found everywhere else. But he got back to me so fast I didn't wait to hear from anyone else. My mistake.
Don't trust these people! They will bate switch you. The person on the phone will tell you the minimum it should be worth is a lot then they will get there and give you hardly anything for it. I didnt have a choice at this point under circumstances but dont trust these people!
Spoke to Ernie about an Oldsmobile engine that he originally stated was a solid running engine. He explained that he would do a compression & leak down test on it and we could decide on a price. He called back with no new information and we agreed on $500. I was admittedly naive enough not to ask again, but I assumed that an honest person would not try to sell me a boat anchor at a high price.
It was not until I drove 1.5 hours to pick up the engine that I was finally told that this engine is seized up. I explained that I did not agree to spend $500 on an engine that doesn’t spin. Ernie was hiding someplace and I was told that I could not renegotiate with any of the other 4 staff that were present . I called him 3 times with no answer. He texted me after I had already left the junkyard with some nonsensical explanation.
Don’t waste your time with these mooks unless you’re a fan of dishonest people or you hate money.

I called looking for a part that had been impossible to find, and I found it here!!! The gentleman that answered my call was very polite and informed me had to look and would call right back. No more than 10 minutes later he called informing me he has the alternator!!! The price was fair and the service was awesome. Will definitely be calling in the future for any auto part needs.

I got it home and stripped it down to install and found a bad intake valve, look like it was sitting around with some water in it. They told me to bring it back and they would look at it, the guy said it would be fine, took it back home and did a leak down test on it and it was junk, not one cylinder was below 50% leakage and every one of the valves leaked probably from rusty valves.
We called Federal Way auto wrecking and found they had a vehicle with parts we needed. Arrived to find another vehicle was on top of it and forklift driver was not available to move the car. We attempted to leave a number but were refused. Called again on Monday and were told no driver. Gave up and ordered from the dealer.
Ordered a part they said they had then waited half the day to receive it, turned out to be the wrong part, after returning the part they tried to say it was my fault for ordering wrong when in fact they just straight imputed the wrong information into their system, then they tried to refuse to give the money back instead offering the part I originally needed and when I said I didn't need that part anymore they tried to say they couldn't refund but could do in store credit to which I replied if you guys messed up my first order how am I supposed to trust you with another order... Then they wouldn't refund the entire cost, ended up only getting about 1/2 my money back from an order they screwed up (I ordered a 2003 Saturn Vue oil pan they winded up giving me a 2005 Saturn oil pan) ... Not a good place to go through, incredibly difficult to work with and it looked like they just don't even care about the customers
Don't waste your time with this place. They will try to get over on paying out for your vehicle. Then talk to you like they're doing you a favor when they will get more money then what they offer you for the car. I got way more then they offered.
Awesome place to do business with! I just bought a Chevy Vortec 4.3L motor for my van that runs like new. Very helpful and prompt callbacks. I will definitely be buying more parts from them in the future. Some of these other reviewers must be horrible mechanics that ruin parts and blame others, because every time I've dealt with them they have been very professional and stand behind the the parts they sell.
I bought a motor for my 1996 Astro van from Federal Way Auto Wrecking and it was ready the next day. It took my mechanic a while to take my motor out and get the replacement in but I am thrilled with how it runs! The man who sold the motor was great to work with and he even called a couple weeks after the purchase to see how it was going. I couldn't be happier! They've got my business for all my "old car" needs.
Fantastic outfit to work with. Very responsive to information and cost requests. Lots of options on an engine I was after. They even deliver! Also great post purchase support. Even came out to help me diagnose if the motor I got would work! Will use again :-)
Charged me $500 for a transmission with a warranty, took it to the shop they themselves suggested and their own technician said what they sold me was useless garbage. They employ drug addicts. I will see them in court. Definitely arson.
This place is terrible i bought a power steering pump that they decided to tell me they cleaned up by spray painting the whole thing. They kept reassuring me that they tested it and that it was good but they lied and didnt do anything other than spray paint it and charge me a ridiculous amount of money, $88 to be exact i could of bought a brand new one for $20 more. This place is the biggest rip off dont do business with them they will scam you and try to convince you that you got a good deal
Awful customer service, we bought a motor for $900 and it doesn't work, they told us it is in great condition and it works. After multiple times trying to speak to them they keep trying to get away saying they can't replace it or they are closed. They Won't take it back or refund us, basically stole our money. Scammers.
I had an engine installed by Federal Way auto wrecking and they claimed I would be very happy and satisfied with their work . The work they did was inferior, it leaked oil from just about every place imaginable . I took the vehicle to another reputable mechanic and they confirmed that the installation was poor. The transmission was not adequately bolted to the engine causing the fly wheel to crack.I took them to small claims court and won a judgement. If you have had an issue with Federal Way auto wrecking please write the Attorney General's office I did and they can be a big help and its free.
Pass on by folks. I'm a local shop owner here in Portland Oregon. I was shopping for a used transmission for one of my customers, and ran into this company from an industry information site. Not only was the customer service rep rude and unresponsive, the transmission they had quoted me was twice the price for similar transmissions in the area.
For being in business for 50 years, I would assume you wouldn't hang up on your customers after having them object to your grossly over priced transmission.
Purchased a transmission from this firm. Owner could not guarantee its condition as he had no facility to test it. He said that if it was not good that he would refund my money. I installed the tranny which apparently had a couple stuck valves due to its being on the shelf for a period of time. I removed the transmission, returned it to Federal Way Auto Wrecking and the man refunded my purchase price and appoligized that it did not work as it should. Very friendly and honest throughout the transaction. I would definitely do business with this firm again.

I am tired of dealing with this company. They have sold me 2 parts that were complete garbage. I first got a "motor" from them and it lasted 6 miles before it blew up on me. The owner wouldn't do anything because he frankly doesn't care about taking care of customers. I went back to them this last week to let them redeem themselves but they failed majorly again. I purchased another "motor" from them and arranged everything on the phone to have it picked up by my friend/mechanic. The owner clearly never told me that the "motor" needed a new head or i wouldn't have never bought the "motor". I use the word "motor" in quotations because the owner clearly doesn't know the complete components of a working motor. When a customer clearly asks is it a good working "motor" and you say yes then the customer should be getting a good working block and a good working head thus putting 2 and 2 together a good "motor" not one that spews out a milkshake when we test it. These people are a rip off and they cause more headaches than solutions. Buyer beware
