What clients say about Algona Transfer Station in Algona (WA)

The transfer station currently broken and closed to public. Call before you go.

Nobody can give me a straight answer as to when they are open or "closed to the public" and there is no way to call ahead of time to find out before you waste a trip. Super inconvenient and costs me money and time. If the dump cant take trash its a 1-star service, no matter how nice the employees are. Staff has always been courteous and kind to me as a customer, the facility is clean (for this type of facility) and organized whenever I visit. I've been coming here since I was a kid, and never had an issue until recently with them closing randomly during the week...

Never had any issues here. Just avoid the busy times and busy days. Check Google to see if they're busier than usual, it helps to time your drop off. Also, tie down your load to save the extra money, they always charge for unsecured loads; a couple simple straps will save you some money.

Only transfer station in the area not allowing flood victims to dispose of their debris, instead they jack their price up and prey on those less fortunate.

Came here to get rid of an old mattress. A couple straps over the roof of my SUV and $33 bucks later, it's gone. Forget those disposal truck companies charging $130 for a mattress. Just take it here!

Showed up during business hours just to be turned away. No explanation, no “ I’m sorry.” No, nothing, just “ we’re close to the public today.” We have been for the last three months, even though I was there a week ago and there was no issue. Not sure what’s going on. The ladies did not seem to want to help or answer any of my questions about why it was closed or anything. All she wanted to do was just hand me a piece of paper and tell me to go to a different place. I go here about 2 to 3 times a month. It’s the closest one to my house if it is indeed close to the public. Perhaps there should be some information on the website, especially since it’s been closed for the past three months, as she mentioned, although it hasn’t been.

Not open during the week anymore, both people at the window were really rude about it. Nothing on the website says what their public hours are & they don’t answer the phones on the weekend. What a joke

Super nice staff! It was my first experience using the transfer station and I had no idea how the process worked. The ladies working the booth were super helpful and explained the process and exactly where to go.

CAUTION: The Algona location is a mess until the big new building is built….thats around June 2026… they take mostly commercial stuff BUT at certain times they take non-commercial stuff….check their website before you go…..

Been going there for years. Always had good service until last week. They have been closed for a week due to something broken. I hope they get it fixed soon. Went there again today. The website said it was open.Hell, no, still not open.Still telling me to come back on the weekends.I've been waiting Two weeks get it right, I'm 69 and grumpy

They are always broken down, and they have terrible customer service. The only guy who works at the window obviously hates his life. Gotta get their act together, hopefully the new build will operate better than them

They have always been great people to interact with. But today they are closed! They are closed their compactor is broken. I have a fully loaded pickup truck with my neighbors old furniture now I got to drive all the way to SeaTac. Bow lake or enumclaw.

Most of the time this transfer station works well. However, the days that it's temporarily closed...there's no where to find that out before your there. No one to call ahead and find out. No option to speak to a human to find out for sure if they are open. It's puzzling. Wasting my husbands time, gas and energy.

The guy who works here who looks very soft and fragile, made me pay twice for “not having straps” even when I had straps. And they don’t tell you they just put it on the tab, then argues it’s not up to standard.

If your signs say you close at 4:30 why did you close the gates at 4:16? 15 customers turn around just because you don’t update your actual closing time Not coming back to this literally stinky place

The high railing makes it extremely hard to unload. You have to stand in the back of your truck to get it over the rail, hazard to falling out the back of your truck like I did today and went over the railing, need to get rid of the railing very unsafe for unloading, makes it very difficult.

Fast convenient service. You pull up onto scale, they hand you temporary card through window, you pull up to dump unload, go back to scale, hand back temp card, pay and leave. I overheard that people on government assist SNAP benefits receive a discount of some kind.

This place is usually helpful. Today, had a witch of an employee who was working the crane. Extremely rude, dismissive, bad attitude! She was an older lady, blonde, wears glasses. Strongly suggest this employee gets a refresher on customer service etiquette

My 1st time in a transfer station and so I thought the unloading situation was a little weird but everything was quick and smooth we were in and out in ten minutes. Oh yeah I also was expecting to pay a lot since I was taking yard waste in but nope was very inexpensive. I’ll be back

Have been to this facility many times in the past 12 years, and as recently as last week. This past weekend I was, for the first time, asked for my zip code and was turned away because I they only serve King County residents. When I asked how long that has been the case the attendent responded "Quite a while actually, but now it is being strictly enforced". This facility is less than 5 miles from the King-Pierce county line. Seems an odd place to locate a facility that is intended to serve exclusively King County residents. Is this some sort of shakedown? Zip code for nearby Auburn, WA is 98001 in case you might need that one day...

I use this dump several times a week, there are two ladies who work the window who are extremely rude, short with words, and ignores my questions,, today she got mad because I only had a 100 dollar bill, I asked if she would rather me use a card and ignored me, I asked several more times still ignored me,, rolled her eyes at me,, and didn’t respond to me at all,, she then deliberately slammed the window? I have used this place often, to be treated like this is a shame,, it’s not the first time either,, they always seem upset, angry and are rude,,, they are quick to check for my sticker or dump pass too, which I have over a dozen of. They can’t see it nor can they remember me and always give me a new sticker. The treatment here is so rude I’ve decided to start avoiding the place at all expense, I would rather pay more or travel further just to avoid there attitudes,, 2 of ladies are really bad,and the other 3 or 4 I see are only rude occasionally, but they obviously don’t like there job and take it out on there clients, bad business, stay alway if you can,,, go to Bow lake, they are open 24 hours, and the people are friendly! And enjoy your buisness! Can’t believe the attitude I receive here, it's uncalled for?

The attendants at this station are unfailingly friendly, helpful, and professional. I love that you can visually preview the waiting line online before leaving the house. Today, for example, it helped me arrive when there was no waiting at all. Great time-saver!

Super friendly folks. Helpful too. We have a dump trailer and the fencing got stuck in the trailer and they showed me how to use their above ground facility to my advantage, came right out. The dumping location is small tho so no truck and trailer over 30 feet. My pickup and trailer are within a couple of inches of that. And we have no trouble manuvering around. If you are not comfortable with backing around obstacles probably best to leave the trailer at home.

Was busy today, but staff was very friendly and helpful. More people need to remember to secure their loads!

I am unclear why activity at a transfer station would be so much increased, but here we are. The line you see in the photo begins on the main road, doubles up in the entry and is pretty slow. My wait was 20 minutes to get to the scales and then another 10 in line to dump my load. Allow plenty of time off you need to make a dump run.

Don't go during this Covid19 shutdown, it took us 1 hour and 20 minutes to get through to do a simple trailer dump. So not worth it. The staff were great, they were just following orders, but remained pleasant and helpful.

Always able to dump. The employees will fine you if your load is not secure and they do have a length limit of I believe 40ft but that's because there is not much room where you pull in to dump. Some of these comments are not true the employees will help you as much as they can legally like to backup or lifting heavy object's if they can safely do it with the backhoe thing that they have. All in all its a good place to take your trash and if you are nice to them they are nice to you.
