Literally the worst people work here, they somehow make you feel like you’re a shitty person for trying to recycle. Don’t go here. Save yourself the humiliation and just put everything in the trash.

Despite what their website states the freeland location does NOT do the metal buyback like it says.

No!! No!! No!! I’m crying this used to be my Nieman Marcus of creativity! Why? Why is it not the fabulous fun place to go? So so so so so so disappointed!!!

The new management is friendly and helpful. The old owner was rude, unpleasant and gave the impression that she didn't want you there...unless you wanted a demeaning. Glad to do recycling with a purpose now.

This used to be a wonderful place that had the spirit of the island. The new owners completely stripped it. It's barebones and depressing now.

There are new owners now. So now it's just a plain ol' recycling kinda place just like the rest. Not as exciting to go to as it use to be (At least for my family). But it is clean, organized and straight forward. In.. Do your recycling... And Out... I use to get distracted before looking around at all the STUFF & THINGS.. I will miss it. But the employees there now are very friendly and helpful.

Still have recycling but all of the items that could be purchased for reuse are gone.

Helpful people, great way to get rid of recycling for free and perhaps pick up something cool from their Thrift shop

Not a bad spot, however, they don't take much in the way of plastics (other than platstic bottles). WARNING: The woman who works here in the glasses is very unpleasant. Avoid her at all costs if possible.

The old woman that always works there needs to retire... She is so miserable she is taking it out on Customers.

After visiting the place for 10 minutes, my husband said it’s his new favorite place on the island, we even gave this place a nick name: Whidbey’s Disney! If you like treasure-hunting, don’t miss this place.

"Island Recycling" is an Amazing place to go! Since we ALL should♻️ Recycle...THIS is where to go! (Plastic, Cardboard, Aluminum Cans, Glass and Household Waste). Also, they Salvage 2nd Hand Items; Metal; Equipment; Books; Lamps; Tools; Yard Decorations and MUCH More Items! They then Resell these items to the Public. You NEVER know what you'll find here!

Dropping off the fencing I had was easy. I just backed in, dumped the fencing, and then drove away. No paperwork or hassle.

The most rude service I've ever encountered, both times I went there, they switch selling by the pound to by the piece if they don't get the money they want for it by the pound...they make up a ridiculous price out of the blue sky ,and say that the cracked rusted piece of metal was too nice to sell by the pound😂,was questioned about something I had in my pocket like I was stealing, showed them it was my knive, and then was harassed for having it,and God forbid you ask a question, you just get short snide snippy unclear answers, at this point I'd rather pay for gas and ferry to go to Seattle scrap yard to get a five dollars pipe!!!if these people working there don't like dealing with the public shouldn't work there!!!what ever happened to treating people good🤔

I've been going to this place for a few years now and they are slowly getting more resentful of their customers. I understand that it gets old telling people over and over to sort their recycling properly. However, it feels like the overall climate of the employees here is hostile and adversarial. I overheard a male employee being extremely rude to an older couple who had no idea where the recycling went. Probably won't be going here anymore.

Great spot if you need scrap metal or anything like that. Was disappointed at their refusal to allow me to purchase recycled electronics, but not surprised. Overall a good place.

I've been coming here with my recycling for twenty years. They have always been cordial and helpful with advice about what they can take and cannot. And although they are clear about what won't fly, they also are clear about why not. More, they have a real sense of community--and of their connections with the South Whidbey community. That's the biggest reason I keep coming back--that and their sense of humor. Where else can you go with a load of trash and get a few laughs in return?

understanding and appreciating how hard these people work is key to appreciating there characters. Having thin skin and no sense of humor may lead to a bitter experience. These are incredible people and have given immense energy to the island to make it a better, more creative place. Hats and shoes off to Mr. and Mrs. "cool stuff" HONKA HONKA

Nice people, great stuff and fair prices! My favorite place to go junking. And recycling

It use to be a real friendly place to take your recycling to with great people. Lately I have had rude service and was told to come back later. When yet we the people of the island basically are giving the recycling center free money. They have to treat us like we are working for them!!! Don't recommend this place I'll go somewhere else to do my recycling!!!

90% of the time this place is great with friendly service and will take all of your recyclables (I don't think they take the plastic bags from the grocery store or Walmart) the other 10% watch out for this one gal whom can be a bit tough on the unprepared. (And I'm sure that come from dealing with the customers that are not using their brains properly) besides that she is pretty awesome as long as you can handle some guff being tossed your way if you are doing something wrong with a side of dry humor. Cool treasures to be found here.

Recycling stations are a bit spread out, so you have to do a fair bit of walking to do cardboard/newspaper/paper/plastic/glass/cans. Upside is that they take old TVs, computers, and scrap metal. They also have a reasonable amount of scrap and used household items for sale.
