Had a coolant hose that was about to break came on a saturday afternoon and he got me fix in about and hour

DO NOT GO HERE FOR ANYTHING!!! He stole my 19 yr old daughter’s first car!!! Triple A towed her car to Carter’s after she and her friends broke down on the side of the I95 in January. Foolish me, I trusted AAA and Carter’s…never again. This man deserves negative stars. He said her engine seized and was worthless, it would cost too much to repair. Naturally, I trusted him, thinking he was telling me the truth. I said that he could sell it for scrap and send me the difference minus his fees. He wanted the title to her car to do that. I told him I would send the title if he sent the tags. He never sent them, despite multiple calls to him from my father (knowing men like this aren’t as quick to scam men who know what they are talking about like my pop does with cars). Now we can’t get him on the phone. There is a special place in hell for thieves like this. I don’t know how this guy sleeps at night.

I was heading from Maryland to South Carolina for the 4th of July weekend. My alternator stopped working around midnight and I was able to make it to a hotel. I thought my weekend was ruined. I looked for local repair shops and called Carters 24hr number at 2am and he said he'd be there first thing in the morning. He picked up my car free of charge, diagnosed the issue, gave me an estimate and replaced my alternator for a good price on the 4th of July holiday. He returned to my hotel to pick me up free of charge. He worked hard and fast to get me back on my trip. I was able to make my family's fireworks show because of his help. Thank you!

If I could give a negative star, it would definitely be a -10. This guy does everything he can to make a profit. My trailer tire blew out and he was the only one who had a tire the same size. I asked how much the tire cost and he said $179, but after I changed it he said it would cost another $50 to replace it, and I had already changed two. If you can wait, do your research, and look elsewhere, you will be much better off!

My friends and I were stranded after our engine ripped open driving over metal debris scattered on the highway one rainy morning.Carter's was a saving grace. As soon as his shop opened we towed the car there and he worked tirelessly to repair it. Several hours later, he got us safely back on the road to continue driving 7 more hours until our destination. Forever grateful for his help!

He took a look at the air brakes right away & told us it was the emergency air brake button and we were good. Saved us the trip to stay in a hotel big thanks to him!

Unfortunately, had a bad experience. We blew a trailer tire and called hoping to get some help. We got a disgruntled answer when we called and waited over an hour after we got a text saying “On the way.” We looked for other options and found Ceasers Tire in Dinwidee. Much quicker and kinder service.

Unethical Business Practices This shop has zero integrity. They overcharge without providing estimates and use intimidation tactics when questioned. Instead of resolving billing issues professionally, they’ll find ways to hold your property hostage. If you value honesty and respect, avoid this place.

Shady Business Practices I brought my truck to this shop for an airbag replacement and some patching work. They never provided an estimate, and when I got the bill, they had overcharged me for both the part and labor. When I questioned the price, instead of handling it professionally, they blocked my trailer, which they never even worked on, refusing to let me take it. Holding someone's property hostage over a dispute is completely unethical. If you're looking for an honest shop, stay far away from this place!

If we could give less than one star we absolutely would, anxiety inducing and predatory practices here… DO NOT GO HERE FOR SERVICE EVEN IF DESPERATE!!!!! You will regret it. We stopped at a different car shop while traveling for the holidays and needed an oil change so we got one but the issues persisted and we stopped here and without being upfront about pricing, charged us $210 for nothing but a waste of time and wouldn’t listen to anything we had to say. We had a code and fresh oil change we even thought he was doing something weird or illegal with our vehicle because the test drive took entirely too long. He will prey on you financially especially if you are a single woman traveling. Do not go…

Worst place ever! I broke down on the highway while traveling for the holiday. Carter preyed on me because I was from out of town and an African American female by myself. I felt very unsafe but he was the only mechanic insight so I just submitted. He charged be about $1000 for 2 used tires and a wheel alignment that he initially informed me he doesn’t do. I feel scammed. Please do not go here! P.S Car still needs a wheel alignment so he charged me for a service he did not provide.

This gentleman really saved the day for my family and I. He got to us in 45 min even tho we were told 70. Didn't gouge the price. We asked to be towed to walmart to get a tire. However he knew that walmart didn't have tires or at least no way of getting one on my rim ie couldn't help us. So instead he towed us to his shop which was further without charging extra and then sold me a tire at a reasonable price and put it on the rim. What would have been a 2 to 3 day ordeal, as it was a Saturday evening and most tire places around empiria close at 5 and 6pm on saturday and closed all day Sunday, he made happen within an hour and a half. I am immensely greatful for this angel. Fyi do not use an outsourcing comoany just go to him directly. I would give him 10 stars if I could. Thank you so very much Mr Carter!

Had an unexpected issue nine hours into a 12 hour drive. Carter's was able to get me back on the road within two hours. Another driver came in with a flat tire and was on the road within 45 minutes. I would definitely recommend the shop if you have any issues along 95.

Mr. Carter was an absolute lifesaver on our drive from NC to DE. We stopped to eat dinner and noticed that our tire looked low and found that we picked up a screw somewhere along the way. Everything nearby was closed and we were scrambling to find someone who could help us as we needed to finish our trip with 2 small children in tow. We called and he didn’t even hesitate to come up with a solution to help us. He came right out to meet us and plug the tire. He charged us a reasonable amount for the fix and we were back on the road in no time. He joked with our kids, let them watch as he worked and made sure to give them the screw as a souvenir.

After hitting a pothole, the strap that held up my (I believe) gas tank broke. I’m not from Virginia, so being stranded in a state you don’t know was scary. I was panicked crying and called multiple places to get help and none were available. On top of that, my car is a 2005 northern rust bucket, as they call it, so some refused to work on my car. Until one place recommended Carter’s! Life saver! I wasn’t sure if it was safe to drive so I called him to tow when he arrived determined it could be driven back to the shop safely. Saving me quite some cash. It was done around 30 minutes, which was a godsend as I was suppose to be in North Carolina hours ago! I’m so thankfully he was able to fix it that day. Thank you so much Carter’s!!

I would highly recommend Carter's Service to anyone in need! He came to our rescue when we were stranded and no one else wanted to. We were stranded from 5pm - 1am, with 2 adults, 1 child and 2 dogs. He not only towed the car, changed the flat tire, but also checked the air in all the other tires before we got back on the road to our destination. He made sure that I was going the right direction and suggested an easier route if it wasn't. I'll definitely be using his services again if their ever needed!!! My truck broke down on 30 Dec 2023 while driving through to Florida. Chester took me in at 4pm on a holiday weekend, assessed the problem, ordered the parts and drove me, my family, and dogs to a hotel. Then he worked all day 31 Dec, through New Year's and delivered my car at 0200 NEW YEARS DAY !!! Rarely in my 51 years have I seen a work ethic like his. Amazing man, incredible service and he charged reasonable rates. Chester represents all the best of customer service, integrity and a sense of genuine concern for his customers! What a great man. Mr.Carter was incredible. We broke down on our way to Florida so he worked early and late to get the car fixed, even getting the part from a dealer hours away. He personally drove us to a hotel where we stayed while he worked diligently on the car. I can't say enough wonderful things about Chester Carter and his service center. Everything was A+, 5 stars. He is an amazing man who does amazing service!

This past weekend, 7/23/23, I had a couple travel trailer tires blow out on me. I called Carter's on a Sunday morning at 9:00 and Mr. Carter picked up while recovering from surgery in a hospital bed!!! Within a half hour, he had a couple of his staff members at his shop and mounted and balanced 2 tires for so me and my family were able to get back on the road safely. Highly recommend this spot if you need quick and courteous service!! Thank you for your help!!!

We are a military family PCSing across country. We are towing a Camry behind our RV and one of the tires completely blew out, stranding my husband while I was driving separately with kids and dogs. Carter’s went above and beyond to assist us right away, to bring my husband safely to his shop, repair our issues and replace both tires (the second one wasn’t in good shape either!). Highly recommend and really want to highlight such fantastic care and service. God bless your business, sir!

We discovered a 2-inch bolt screw embedded dead in the middle of a new tire, while driving up 95 North. It was nearly 100 degrees outside too, and the tires were very hot. We rode over to Mr. Carter’s shop and the tire was completely flat by then. He helped us immediately, patching and repairing the tire. His good work allowed us to get back on the road and back home in a few hours. Very grateful to Mr. Carter and Joyce for the great service, a fair price, and the help we needed most. Definitely recommend them if you are in a pinch.

I was driving back to bucks county, Pennsylvania from a vacation in Daytona, Florida with 3 friends when we felt my truck not driving right. So we pulled over and found out my wheel hub bearing went bad and we were stuck. I googled the phone number for Carter’s and the gentleman answered very politely and was very helpful at 10:30Pm on a Sunday night. I told him my situation and he was really helpful, and told me he can help me with repairing my truck first thing in the morning so we could get back on the road. Being 5 hours from home I was very happy to find such a great shop to help us. The price was very fair and reasonable. I can’t say enough how happy I was to find such great people and shop to go to. I highly recommend this shop for all your automotive needs. You can’t find better people anywhere. Thank you a billion times for your help. P.S. Team Trump. We broke down on our way to Florida and Chester (Carter's Towing) was the only one who answered the call. He communicated well with us and took care of the tow and did the repairs in a timely, cost. efficient manner. Never even met him until we picked the car up pm our way back to Maryland a week later. I would highly recommend him. We were in a bind with no other option and he could have stuck it to us but instead he was fair. Thanks Chester. Patrick

I can say that our travel trailer burned up a set of wheel bearings on I-95 at the weigh scale just north of Stony Creek VA. Friday at 4:45pm. I called AAA and there were no authorized RV service shops anywhere around. None. AAA told me to delay with a service dealer of my choice. I called several RV shops around a 100mile radius. No one called back even though most were still open Then I found Carter's on Google and called. Clarence was on a run to Richmond but had seen me at the weigh scale. I was told to sit tight and they'll be by later. Later came and two trucks showed up. They removed the bad wheel and ties up the axle and ushered me to a local RV park and said they'd be back the next day, Saturday. They showed up with new bearings and stuff needed to fix me up. They worked it well and fit a set of bearings to my spindle, a new hub etc and got me on my way. Time will tell on the work and here I am 12 highway hours later and a is well so far. Am I happy yes. I wouldn't have even got to talk to another shop until tomorrow and who knows about when they would work on me. Thanks Chester and your guys for getting the job done. I appreciate it. Had a tire go bad on route 95 south. Got the car to exit 31. Called AAA aaannnd Carter's towing showed up. Chester had me follow him to his shop. Joyce backed us up to their garage. Chester mounted and balanced the new tire and we were back on the road within 2 hours! Price was reasonable. Very nice, honest people. Thank you Both!!

BEWARE!!! I wish I did not have to choose 1 star for this review. These people seem very nice at first and over the phone. There are guys walking around with guns on their hips, almost as if they want you to be intimidated by them. The owner Chester Carter will take advantage of you and make you think he is doing you a favor. They are not honest people and they are way overpriced. They completed work on my vehicle without my approval. I never received an estimate or a call about what exactly was wrong. When I called (the next day) to check in to see what was wrong, I was told the car was repaired and now I had an outstanding bill. I never approved any work. The amount that they gave me for the repair was way over what it should have been. The owner cursed at me because I asked him why the price was so high. After the owner calmed down, he said someone would bring me my vehicle, come to find out my car was still having issues when the mechanic test drove my car to come pick me up. They took the car back to the shop told me it was something else that was wrong now. After that they decided my head gasket was blown. Keep in mind they test drove my car multiple times. I am not sure why they did not notice the head gasket in the beginning or maybe they blew the head gasket by driving the vehicle. Again, the owner was very nice at first, but he was very rude after his shop completed work on the vehicle and when I started to speak up for myself. Please beware of this place and Chester Carter.

These are the nicest people I have met. Their service was amazing and prices were better than reasonable for everything they did to get us going again. Not just a simple tire repair. Our newly purchased antique needed a flatbed tow, replacement fuel pump and new shocks. They told us beyond the replacement gas pump we could make it home with the shocks but would need them replaced when we got there (our original plan) he was so honest, and went way above any reasonable expectation of what a service shop would do we asked them to replace everything. Which they did. They got us out and on our way in one day just before the hurricane passed through. Would recommend in a heartbeat.
