I used my insurance app to report a dead battery. They called Compass Towing. Charles arrived right promptly, and jumped-started my car. He explained the ins and outs of Prius batteries and electrical systems while the battery charged. Then he patiently showed me how to remove a particularly tricky cover under the hood. Super friendly and knowledgeable. If he's available, ask Compass to send Charles!
TJ from Compass Towing & Recovery texted me and arrived just as he communicated. He was polite, explained his process and promptly jump started my car saving me time and money!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had an excellent experience with Charles from the towing company. From the moment he arrived, he was incredibly patient, kind, and reassuring. I originally thought my truck was having mechanical issues, but Charles took the time to assess the situation and calmly explained that it was simply because my truck was parked on a hill and the gas had shifted toward the front.
He went above and beyond by giving me a ride to the gas station and made sure my truck was running properly before leaving. His professionalism, knowledge, and genuine care turned a stressful situation into a positive experience. I’m extremely grateful for his help and would highly recommend him to anyone in need of roadside assistance.
Crazy seeing all these crazy reviews. My experience with the company was absolutely amazing. The driver waa on time, realized I was disabled and couldn't stand long and helped me in and out of his truck. We had great conversation and the 10 min ride had nothing but great vibes
As like others here my insurance company set the tow and this people took on the job just to let me sit waiting for the tow for over 2 hours, insurance company followed up asking if the vehicle had been towed and it hadn't so they sent me a new Eta for 45 morr minutes. I called the provider and the lady answering the phon was not professional and stated that there had been a call from the police and that it takes priority over others which I understand so I waited some more to then get another revised Eta of over 85 more minutes so I called the towing company once again and the lady on the phone was rude once again... I am done, they make me wait for over 4 hours and are rude on customers to top it off... needles to say I contacted my insurance and canceled the tow explaining why.
Compass towing and recovery will not get my business ever.

My truck was towed when I had a medical issue while driving on I-95. They charged $375 for a 6 mile tow just because the state police called for the tow. They also charged $75 for storage fee. If you pay with card, you also pay the credit card fee which is standard with most businesses. In total I had to pay $472.50 to get my truck.
They claim that they don't set the $375 fee if state police called, and that they don't want to charge that much. Take that as you will, but consider that the money goes to the tow company and not the police agency.
Dean was totally AMAZING in helping us when our car broke down earlier today. He was patient and extremely knowledgeable as to what our situation needed for getting us back on the road. (The underlining cover came loose and was dragging on the ground as we were driving on 95 heading to NC). Dean was Absolutely the Best in helping us resolve our situation! My GX 460 was towed by them after being hit in a parking lot over a weekend. My truck was then delivered the following work day to the certified Lexus Bodyshop for repairs. Per the delivery it was infested with ants and door and front center counsels filthy with dirt stains all over and they try to say this was an act of nature and refuse to take responsibility. They ask if the Bodyshop can take a leaf blower to get rid of the ants. Just refuse to take accountability. I have health conditions which I have to keep my vehicle meticulously clean, my home and so forth besides that I’m a person with OCD as well. It’s sad, having to fight through getting this resolved is what’s happening due to the lack of taking responsibility. I do not recommend this company as they do not take pride in providing upstanding service they just get the work done any kind of way with a high disregard towards customers. Didn’t want to report this but it’s time to be transparent, shed light and awareness when services are not good. Reviews take work and time to write, but I will take the time and do my part as others need to aware of poor service around them and better choices can be made by the customer. Thank you. I actually called two other tow truck companies that did not answer the phone. The third one answered and said they could not tow me and referred me to another one. That guy was so hateful and disrespectful that I did not use them. On my ride back home I saw a Compass tow truck and pulled over to call them. The lady on the other end of the phone was very nice very helpful and very respectful. It took about an hour and a half before my vehicle showed up at my home. Which I think was pretty awesome The pricing was very acceptable and the tow truck driver was quite respectful as well. I do not give five stars easily but this company deserves it. Need a hand give them a call.
I popped my two driver side tires on 610 on Friday. Insurance dispatched Compass Towing. They estimated 45-65 minutes for the tow truck, Mike showed up within 10 minutes. He was very professional & gave me a ride to Tires Plus. I would use them again if needed!
Mike is big of safety when towing cars. Mike showed up to tow my car cos of a flat tire in my driveway on a tight residential road. He was attentive to details. He walked around the car, checked it out took pictures and put air in my tires. He guided me to an area where he could tow it safely. He informed me of how to climb safely into the care and did the same when I was getting down. Good customer service.
Mario did a fantastic job! He was professional, courteous and knew exactly what to do to get my incredibly low vehicle on the truck without scraping. Don’t wanna have to use tow companies very often, but if I do, I’ll go with these guys any day of the week…
My insurance requested a tow truck to tow my car from A - B, the eta was 60-89 mins, after waiting 1 hour, I called the tow truck company to get an eta, they said that it will be there after 2 hours. Waiting another hour and called back, they said another 2 hours. The guy was lying, rude and used F word asking me to cancel if I want after waiting 2 and half hours for them. Bad business, misleading service, and not recommend it.
My son had stopped for lunch and came out to a dead vehicle. After attempts to jump the car, I called for a tow. The young woman I talked to on the phone was very helpful and extremely nice. I had regular updates on the driver's ETA throughout the wait. TJ, the driver, was extremely professional and completely set my mind at ease. He quickly loaded the vehicle and had it dropped off at my preferred location in no time. Compass Towing made everything extremely easy and a highly pleasant experience.
On my way into work my tire popped which left me stuck in the middle of rt1. I called Compass Towing to tow my car directly to Walmart to get the tire replaced. Not even 5 minutes after getting off the phone with the dispatcher, Bruce arrived. He was in a very cheery and postive mood which made my situation feel not so bad anymore. He talked and joked with me, made sure me and my car were safe, and didn’t make me feel rushed when Walmart was taking forever to tell me where he could drop my car. I highly recommend Bruce specially. If I ever need to be towed again I know exactly who to call and ask for. Thank you Bruce for being the light I needed to get through that morning.
PREDATORY TOWING COMPANY. On February 3rd, 2025, I was working a real estate photo shoot on Grosvenor Lane in Stafford and parked in a visitor spot. Phil, with Compass Towing plates 5100 TW, was doing his rounds to tow cars not only 15 minutes after I arrived.
He pulled my car from the rear and dropped it, with intentions to drive to the front, and pull it from there. Spotting him drop the car, I quickly ran and hopped inside so he wouldn't re-hook it. As I hopped in, he frantically backed up, re-hooked and LIFTED my car with me inside.
The homeowner, real estate agent and several neighbors ran over to try and help me since it is unsafe to lift a car with a person inside and they were worried. Phil argued with me and the spectators about logistics and made us pay a $25 drop fee. Along with minor damage and needing to fix my tire pressure, I don't recommend this towing company and if you have a choice, Phil is not a safe driver.
This company has had multiple Involuntary Revocations over their license over the years. This happens typically when companies do not follow the rules or regulations that govern their license. DO NOT BE FOOLED by the positive reviews they leave themselves. The bad reviews tell it HOW it is working with them. God bless us, everyone!
For someone who was on the scene, I have to stand up for the photographer/citizen because what happened to him was completely unacceptable. Lifting a car with a person inside is reckless and dangerous, yet Compass Towing & Recovery showed no concern for safety. Instead of addressing the issue professionally, they resorted to petty insults and deflection.
They’re also quick to argue over pricing, policies, and basic safety practices—like the arbitrary $25 drop fee they forced Alex to pay. Their response to criticism shows exactly how they handle business: with hostility instead of accountability.
Regardless of the parking situation, putting someone in harm’s way is inexcusable. If you want a company that values safety, professionalism, and transparency, look elsewhere.
I had the privilege of being helped and serviced by Bruce, and I have to say he was of great help! He was so kind as well. Even aided me in some things with my car battery that made the car perfectly fine. I would definitely recommend Compass towing. Thank you once again Bruce
My 2023 VW Atlas broke down last week and needed to be towed to the dealership. roadside assistance took care of the logistics and put me in touch with Compass towing. Phil immediately contacted me and gave me an ETA and also kept me updated every step of the way. Phil also graciously gave me a ride to the dealership and I had a great time talking cars with him on the ride in. Compass is now my one and only call if I need anything towing related. Can’t say enough good things about the company and especially, Phil!
Just picked up personal belongings from a family members car accident. Every person we encountered was kind, helpful, and efficient. They asked how the driver was recovering, made getting the items as simple as possible, and personally helped us remove the license plate. In and out in less than 20 minutes. They made a horrible situation a little less horrible. Thank you for your excellent customer service.
