Was using the place to park my car to carpool to work. Until Mathews police threaten to tow my car.

Its small walking loop with some historical placards to read. If your looking for a covered area to walk your dog or take a break from driving.

Fort nonsense is a historical site with a short Trail. There is a gravel parking lot a picnic area with tables and a cover. There is porta potty type bathroom. The trail has historical plaques throughout the loop which is probably about a quarter mile or slightly more in total. Off-road capable wheelchairs would probably work it is level ground but gravel in the parking lot and dirt trails to the loop. Fairly level

Visited yesterday and really enjoyed reading about the history of Fort Nonsense. You can still see remnants of the earthworks. If your around the area I recommend stoppping. The walk is short and easy.

Hey, what can I say? Any place by this name is worth being able to say 'I survived Nonsense!' or some other nonsensical saying... ? Entering historical info for this place and Matthews County. Nice small walking trail. Can't find my trail pic, but it was worthy of a frame!

This is a nice quick stop, not a lot to see, a few informational boards to read on the few SHORT paths. 15 to 30 minutes is all that is needed unless you bring your picnic lunch to eat. There is a Porta potty which someone has cut holes in the side walls. I would be disappointed if I made a special trip to see this. It is free and closes at dusk.

The park is lovely and well kept, although small. There are picnic tables under a shelter surrounded by trees. I found it very peaceful for a small piece of land bordered by roads on two sides. It lost one star from me because of the condition of the parking lot. It's full of holes. I still love to stop there. Also for anyone who plays, there are four different Pokémon activities in this park. The potholes are filled in!! 5 stars now! Thank you ?

The history was interesting but the place is tiny and there is not much to see. The bigger issue here is the creep factor- I was there around 2pm and there was several single men sitting in their cars that followed me onto the path. If I had to guess, I would say this is some type of cruising spot.

A nice slice of local history. It could use a little cleanup but nothing was too bad.

Cute little park. Several Pokestops. Nice paths and displays. Benches, a boardwalk, and a pavilion. There is a latrine that has been clean every time I've been there. Paths are smooth and wheelchair accessible.

Cool place, sad it has absolutely nothing left of the fort. There are some trees that are labeled, which would be cool if they weren’t so embarrassingly wrong.

Awesome! I great that the Confederate history still is allowed to live on in this part of the USA.

An interesting stop and good picnic amenities if you are in the area. Well maintained. As no local businesses have public restrooms this is great for an urgent port-o-potty need.

Very nice spot, in the shade. Small, but definitely worth the stop if you're wanting to do something different.

While exploring the area I came upon this hidden civil war history gem at the intersection of Windsor Rd. and John Clayton Mem. Hwy. in Mathews Co. VA. As said in other reviews the site isn’t very large, but was worth the stop to take a look around to see how the soldiers protected themselves in the 1800’s.

We stumbled upon this forgotten bit of history on accident. Perfect chance to walk about and check out the old earthworks. Lots of traffic going by prevent you from getting in the mood of protecting the Confederacy from northern incursion but that was the same luck of the real Fort Nonsense troops. Give it 30 minutes, your legs will appreciate it.

Small local park which is shaded and cool. A perfect place to stretch my legs and unwind on my way home each day.

A nice little park. However, someone needs to spend some money fixing driveway, parking area, lots of potholes.
