This is a family run, old-school, trustworthy place that’s been in place for probably +50yrs! They do work other shops will not do. Example: drilling out stripped O2 sensors and putting in helo coils instead of replacing the exhaust manifold. Great prices for quality and innovative repair solutions.
Needed to get my car battery replaced last minute, and they were gracious enough to assist and to do so under 10 minutes!
The team was very kind. They also checked other parts of my car to ensure everything was functioning properly.
They also had a very cute dog, so I played with her while they were replacing my battery ?

I think Haymarket Motors is the best shop that I’ve been to. The staff there is so nice to talk to. They also are very honest! I told them about a few concerns in the past about something that I’m not sure if it needs to be fixed. They always take a look at the issue and tell me it doesn’t need to be replaced, unlike a lot of shops that find new things that need to be fixed. Their prices are good and I have always gotten my car back the same day. I always recommend them to my neighbors, good prices, great and honest service. I was going to give Piedmont a chance in the past, but I’m glad I found them, since I don’t have to leave my car at the shop for a few days, every time I need something fixed.
I needed a quick state inspection after accidentally letting ours expire, and after driving past three places with hours-long lines (been there, done that), I pulled into Haymarket Motors, and they saw me right away. The waiting room was cute and comfortable, with books and toys to keep kids entertained. The staff were friendly and courteous, making the whole process smooth and stress-free. I was in and out in no time. They were a lifesaver when I needed fast, reliable service.
These guys saved me! My wife, 4 boys, and I were on a road trip to DC from Alabama. We were away from home and in a bind. None of the shops around would even see me until at least 3 days later. The guys at Haymarket stopped what they were doing and helped us get back on the road. They saved us a ton of money in what we would have had to spend if we had to wait several days just to find out the problem and get an estimate.. I’m truly grateful for the kindness and expedient service we received. If I could give more stars, I absolutely would. Thanks guys!!
I had a poor experience at another location, stopped by this place and they restored my faith in the auto repair industry. They stopped what they were working on, took a look at my car, gave me an honest appraisal of what my car needed ( and I have worked on cars for 40+ years) just can't say enough good things about these guys
But I am now a customer for life, and will steer anyone I know their way.

Very glad I stumbled across these folks at a local event. It's been a while since I had a close, trustworthy, efficient, competent and reasonably priced auto mechanic. Simple or complicated stuff is just not a problem for this group. Lovely folks too. Worth a chat when you stop by and not just a drop off—sorry team if I'm a reason every one starts chatting you when visiting now.
Easy to get an appointment despite competition being fully booked. Quick diagnosis and repair within a 4-hour period of time (ignition coil replacement - not super complex but also not totally simple). Great price. Friendly mechanics and staff. I live local so found a new go-to shop.
I will never go here again. After completing the work before starting, they asked for higher prices with various excuses. And definitely buy the parts yourself. They sell parts at exorbitant prices. I definitely do not recommend it.

I gave them a call because I had a concern about a strange noise coming from the driver's side front wheel. They were very thorough in trying to figure out what it was they fixed it and I am very grateful!! And my required VA safety test as well.
They were very professional, and happy to answer any questions. And even though they did not have shuttle service in the pouring rain they took me home and brought my vehicle back after they fixed it and I really appreciate that kind of attention to detail.
Not only will I returned as a customer but anyone in need of Mechanical Services I would definitely send them there.

They completed the work which earned the one star I’m awarding. They under estimated the original job because they were not aware of the correct fluid that was required. The cost of that mistake was passed on to me. They did not originally did not disclose that they did not have all the necessary tools to complete the job, which necessitated them outsourcing to another shop. They did not actively communicate otherwise understandable delays, which created unnecessary tension and confusion. When I got my vehicle back it smelled like they had been smoking in it for the three weeks they had my car for the repairs. When we called to confront them they attempted to shift the blame to Piedmont Tire and Auto, who had the car for one workday day to complete the portion of the job that they were not equipped to complete.
Perhaps the cynical signs all through the workspace making jokes about poor customer service practices aren’t in jest, but instead represent company policy.
Haymarket Motors has just gained a new customer. Dawn friendly and pleasant from our first encounter on the phone to greeeting me when dropping my car off. Customer service 5 stars. Don 1 of the 2 mechanics that works @ the garage was knowledgeable, polite and honest. He immediately addressed my concerns and provided me with a remedy and a quote. Turn around time and price fair not crazy as other garages in the area. Location is a bit tricky it's hidden behind Piedmont tires. The next time you are in need Haymarket Motors will not disappoint. Mike the other mechanic also friendly and knowledgeable and Alex his female yellow lab joins him at work, addition to the positive vibe of the shop. Thank you all!!
Picture this for me; it's Thursday at 6 pm and you are an hour into your 3 hour commute home from working in the office for 3 days and you are rushing home to see your 2 and 3 years olds who have been missing their dad for 3 days now, only to hear a loud POP like a cork and thinking youll need to spend the night on the side of the road, get a ridiculously priced taxi, and miss out on seeing your family that night. I made some local calls to shops to be turned down and to "come in at 730 am when my mechanic comes back."
I make a call to Haymarket Motors, told them i may have blown a spark plug and understand they close in 1 hour. They told me to swing by and that they would have a look anyway. I pulled in and they were ready and waiting and wasted no time diagnosing and finding a quick fix on a loosened/unfastened turbo tube. Within less than 5 minutes, this team of angels allowed me in their door, performed a quality assessment, and refused cash from me for such a simple fix. Meanwhile, this is 45 minutes before closing at this point and having already been turned down elsewhere. I cannot recommend this team and shop enough. Hands down, best quality human services and top-notch people in general.

I had about 10 lights come on a few miles outside of Haymarket on my way to Falls Church. I pulled off the exit, looked for the nearest garage and made my way to Haymarket Motors. The guys did an excellent job looking over my car, finding out what was wrong, and were very patient with my boys screaming in the background. Not only that but I got to love on a sweet little doggie while waiting! I highly recommend this place to anyone who lives in the area or who need any help along the way of their travels. I don't know cars and the were so kind and great explaining everything to me! Definitely reccomend!!!
Mike and the crew at Haymarket Motors are awesome. I am from out of town and needed a simple quick fix to get home as I normally do my own work. I had dropped my vehicle off at another place in Haymarket and they assured me they could get to it. I dropped it off to them at 7:10 am and they called me at 10:30am to say they could not get to it. I called Haymarket Motors and they said come on over. I left that other place and drove the few hundred yards to Haymarket Motors where Mike did the simple quick fix while I waited. The professionalism and customer care was exactly what every customer desires.
So, bypass the big guys out front and check out Mike and the guys at Haymarket Motors.
I'd been having a problem with my car since January, and no one had been able to tell me what was going on or fix the issue until I went into Haymarket Motors. These guys know their stuff--they quickly figured out what was wrong with my car and had her done within a day. When I went in to pick her up, they had even saved the broken part (my ignition coils) to show me what was wrong. They are knowledgeable, honest, friendly, and just excellent at what they do!
Fred did an amazing job helping me out on short notice with a tough fix. Got the parts and replaced in a couple days. Great service, great price, quick and clean! Strongly recommend!

What helpful and kind people here. I had an emergency issue with my car while traveling through the area and Fred and Mike helped me out right away - they were happy to institute a cheap, temporary solution at my request so that I could get back on the road quickly. As soon as I came by Mike stopped what he was working on and got on the ground to do what needed doing so I could drive safely again, and they wouldn’t accept any compensation for their time or effort. I had no choice but to get the repair done at the time so they could have easily charged me something, but instead they took time out of their work schedule just to help me out and to boot they couldn’t have been more friendly about it. I don’t live in the area but when I do need repairs done in the future that aren’t too time consuming I’m going to go out of my way to try to schedule them here when I’ll be passing through again. If I were in the area this would be my go-to repair shop.
Fred and Mike are the best! After blowing out a tire on 66 I was towed to Haymarket Motors. Fred and Mike were extremely knowledgeable, answered all my questions, and were extremely generous in helping me get my car fixed and back on the road. Go see these guys for any of your auto repair needs, they'll take great care of you!
The dealership wanted to charge me a ton of money to fix a whole laundry list of issues with my car. At a friend's recommendation, I called up Fred. On the spot, Fred was able to look up my car's year, make, and model, and tell me that most of those "urgent" repairs were routine maintenance items that didn't actually need to be done for another 15,000 or 25,000 miles.
I brought my car in, and a few days later, Fred had finished up on the few items that actually needed to be done at a fraction of the total price the dealership had given me! He even wrote a thorough report of all the items he checked just to make sure that my car was up to snuff.
While they do have a bit of a wait list, it's well worth it. Fred's reputation precedes him, as my friend can't stop singing his praises. Now I can't either! He really saved my proverbial bacon.
Most mechanics will try to overcharge you, sell you on things you don't really need, etc. Here is a trustworthy, reliable mechanic who does great work at a reasonable price, and in this day and age, that's nearly impossible to come by. Trust me, and take your car to Haymarket Motors. You won't regret it!
Amazing place. It's off the beaten path but worth the scenic detour. Fred and Mike hooked us up with a safety inspection. In and out in 20 mins while everywhere else in town was 'leave your car with us for +24 hours'. Very cool shop. Just follow the signs to the shop in the back and get ready for good people and some great stories from Fred. Thanks guys!
