They have worked on my truck several times and always have done great work and doesn't take long. Always greet me kindly and respectfully. Great bunch of guy's. Highly recommend!!
lafon auto is by far the best auto repair shop i've ever dealt with. all of the staff is great, tony is a phenomenal guy, and the prices are VERY fair considering the amount of care and attention your vehicle receives when being serviced. this place is my go-to for everything from a simple oil change to getting new tires. any time i've run into car problems, tony and the rest of the staff have helped me get back on the road as quickly and safely as possible, all without burning a hole in my wallet. lafon auto is truly a staple of the community, and i'm grateful to have a trustworthy local shop to come to!
We moved to the area from out of state and needed our VA inspection, looked at reviews, and talked to a few people, and they recommended Lafons. We went there and they were really nice and accommodating. We've used them for 95% of our car stuff for the 4 years we lived there. We are sad not to have this shop around anymore.
The only place I trust with my car. Tony takes the time to explain what's wrong, what could be done, and cost without talking down to you or being pushy. I trust him entirely.

Tried this shop out due to my previous shop closing. I have a slew of older vehicles that I keep in reasonably good shape. Due to Virginia requiring inspections I’m forced to visit annually. These guys while busy and having minor wait times were great! 2/3 vehicles made it through with no issues, suggestions were made for the future too. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone! Great to have a local shop that I can trust.
Stopped in the morning time to get my tire swapped my truck was on the side of the road, tony said he couldn't help he was there alone. (Not sure why that matters customer service is top priority and the dire need of this situation and the job i needed done takes less than 15 min it but I guess fixing my tire would have stopped him from towing me and costing me a couple hundred that I did not have. Not only did the truck get towed but it had no tire on it. There is so much damage idk what to do. I don't have the money to fix all of this and it could have been prevented if he would have just fixed the tire. Went back later that day to get another tire fixed before it blew too. A group of them sitting at the table. And still they could not repair a tire. Guess thats because their real money is towing you and causing damage to your vehicle. McCoy in Fairlawn tho called me when I didn't show up to check on me and invited me to just come say hi and have coffee. I told them it ment alot after everything I had went threw with Lafon that day... And the garage beside suffys that guy is the nicest he helped fix that other tire and even looked for me for one when he didn't think the one I had was right.. We serve each other we are literally taking care of each other to take care of ourselves. We need to be doing a better job! Blessed be ?
Exceptional!! As a woman, it is SO refreshing to go to a mechanic who doesn’t give me the feeling that I’m being ripped off. Tony is warm and welcoming, and he takes the time to explain everything in detail in a way you can understand. I have had multiple issues taken care of here, and the team always does a fantastic job. Just can't express with good language how incredibly blessed I am to be able to use this company. They put my kind at ease and offer a level of service that can only be described as "Perfect". I've had a few alignments done here, and had them do some work on my truck whilst I was recovering from surgery. Couldn't be happier with the service and work done. I had always gone to dealers before moving here to Blacksburg, so I was looking for a place that would provide expertise on both my van and car (different makers). Lafon initially got my business because they had time to book me for a safety inspection, but I was impressed and I have been now a total of six times. Mostly oil changes, but also a wheel alignment, a full brake job, and yesterday a fluid exchange for all my van's fluids (10-year mark). Tony at the front desk is always super knowledgeable and communicates really well. They have good pricing and meticulous attention to detail. I keep really good records of all my auto visits and these guys never miss. Overall I'll be very happy to keep coming here for the foreseeable future!
Lafon's is the best garage, hands down, in Newport & surrounding area. Lance, Tony, & Josh are very professional, courteous & they know their "stuff"!! They always go the extra mile to answer my questions. I would not consider taking my vehicle any place else. I could not be happier.
I was in a terrifying accident from hydroplaning in the snow down a hill while I was passing through & staying in town back to Florida. Lance was SO helpful and kind when I was going through post traumatic dress from the accident. He kept in contact with me every day and let me pick up my belongings from my damaged vehicle on a day they weren’t open, just so I could stay on my schedule heading back to Florida. Dealing with the situation that I was in, Lance made things so much easier by being so helpful. Would recommend this tow auto shop to anyone in the area. Thank you Lance and the workers that were able to pull my rental vehicle up.
helpful and prompt. i had replaced a brake bulb incorrectly and they installed it correctly, didnt even charge me for it- many auto places would have charged you if they knew they could get away with it, but lucky that these folks arent out to take advantage. great experience!! thanks lafons!
Always very friendly and professional. One of the few honest auto repair places I can think of. I will only use Lafons for any auto repairs I cannot do myself. HIGHLY RECOMMEND ??
This place is awesome :) My daughter goes to Va Tech and her car broke down on her. She took it to a shop nearby and they gave her an estimate of over $2,800.00 to fix it. I called Lafon, explained the situation, and sent them the est we were given at the other shop. They gave me an est of about $1,000 less which included them going to the other shop and towing it to their place. After looking over the car they found that it didn't need everything the other shop had quoted and was able to fix it for $1,300.00. I would definitely recommend this shop. Very professional and trustworthy. Repairs were completed over a month ago and haven't had any issues with the repairs.
We’re from Florida and on a thousand mile road trip, our radiator blew out halfway up the mountain about 2 miles from Lafon Auto. We managed to get our car up and over the mountain and make it safely to their shop. Not only did they fit us into a busy schedule and replace our radiator the same day, they also gave us and our crazy dogs a ride so we wouldn’t have to sit there for the 6 hours it would take to fix our car. We got our car back the same night and we drove 500+ miles to Michigan without any problems whatsoever!
If there were more stars I'd give them, no kidding it's hard as hell to find a honest mechanic that knows what their doing. Well Lance , Tony & Josh DO, I have a 17yr old Class A motorhome , a 20 yr old Mercedes & a 35yr old Dodge truck and whatever I throw at them they get it DONE!

I received GREAT service from Lafon Auto! In fact, I drove my vehicle from Roanoke to have it worked on in Newport just because of their reputation. I have a pink mobile boutique that is operated out of a Ford E450 bus called Couture Unicorn and I wanted to make sure the work was done right. It was!! They went above and beyond! They did great work, had great customer service and it was worth the hour drive to make it happen! Thank you SO much! I will be back!
Outstanding!!! We were visiting the area for a family vacation from St. Louis and had some car troubles when we arrived. At first, I thought the issue would be quite extensive and expensive. They were very thorough and the issue turned out to be something smaller than expected. A lot of shops could have, and maybe would have repaired things that were not needed, but they were very honest. They also went out of their way to make sure it was safe to drive. They were very nice and welcoming. I couldn't have asked for better service. After many hours driving back to St. Louis, the car held up great and had no further issues. VERY PLEASED!!!! I would HIGHLY recommend them. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would.
We got a flat tire in Pembroke, a wrecker went past us and my fiance flagged him down. This gentleman stopped and after explaining our situation, he towed us to his shop, put two tires on our car within 20 minutes. His staff was very friendly and professional. If you are ever in that area and need car service, look them up...Lance, thank you for everything you did for us today.
Lafon Auto is the go to place for repairs! I took my truck to Lafon Auto to get a second opinion on the diagnosis of the problem, Lafon Auto ended up probably identifying the issue and saved me an unnecessary engine teardown that I was informed to have needed by another repair shop! Lafon Auto has a very solid and knowledgeable mechanic staff and excellent customer service and fair prices on repairs. Down time on my truck was minimal. I stand behind this repair shop and will continue to bring my vehicles there for general service and repairs!
Excellent service, and fair pricing. They completed an alignment, new tires and state inspection in a timely manner. Staff is very knowledgeable and facilities are professional.
Lafon Auto has amazing service, quick, and friendly! I was driving off road and while I was driving I hit a rock and the plastic/metal casing under my car broke and came undone. Lafon Auto was the closest garage to me in that area. I thought my car was not going to be able to get fixed because I came about 45 minutes before the garage was closing. They fixed my car in about 30 minutes and I was sent on my way! The staff was really welcoming and reassuring as well as quick and efficient. I will always go back if needed.
After a hectic few days of dealing with personal car issues, Lafon Auto was most helpful. Tony and Lance and team identified the real issue and corrected (replaced fuel pump) that problem. There were other issues with my vehicle and they recommended a treatment service of which corrected all issues. I would recommend them for repairs or maintenance.
Tony and the team at Lafon have been servicing my vehicles for over a year now and I couldn't be more pleased. They are a great blend of experience, customer service and value.
