Ashton at ASHTONS PLACE is an awesome and stand up mechanic. He is honest, trust worthy and very knowledgeable. He backs all of his work and does a fantastic job at that. If you need anything mechanically done to your car he is the person to see, and ASHTONS PLACE is the place to go.
When my car broke down in the middle of a cross-country trip, other mechanics said it would take two days to get the parts delivered and complete the work. Ashton got me the parts the same day and had it done in only three hours, while charging me hundreds less than I was quoted everywhere else. He saved my trip and I couldn't be more grateful!

If your car is going to fail on you, you want it to be in Christiansburg, VA, where Ashton’s Place auto repair shop will take care of you! We were driving on 81 north to Manassas when the air conditioning started blowing warm air. Then the low battery light came on. Then some dash lights went out. We knew something was wrong and were just before the Christiansburg exit, so I quick looked on yelp and saw Ashton’s Place not far with a 5 star review. So I started calling and Ashton answered and as I was on the phone explaining, the car stopped completely and we just made it into a little store just down the road from Ashton’s. He said stay there, I’ll walk down to you. He came with a portable battery & got us started. We drove to his shop and he took a look right away, and told us what it would cost and how long he estimated, which would put it past his closing time. He asked if we had somewhere to stay overnight; he assured us he would try and get it done or if he couldn’t that night, definitely the next morning. He even recommended a hotel (which we loved!) and asked his coworker, Joe, to drive us there! Near the hotel was a restaurant we were eating. Halfway through dinner he called to say it was ready! They had stayed after closing to finish it. He even brought it to us at the restaurant! I don’t know about you, but I’ve never had better service than that! Not many would go the extra mile(s) he did! Fair prices, outstanding service, honest, friendly… treating you like family. Can’t recommend more highly!! Thank you Ashton and Joe. You made our breakdown into a easy, and stress-free experience.
He told me he would need my car for three full days to hardwire my dash cam, and that it would cost $275 even though I had already placed the cameras and done everything except the hardwiring. I had to pick it back up to take care of a battery issue and then he never called to schedule me for my appointment which turned out to be a blessing! I ended up having it done at Best buy for $75 in an hour's time. They did a great job. Ashton's is absolutely the most disorganized and messy business I have ever been in. Will not return.
I have a Mazdaspeed I very much love and it needed a replacement transmission. A certain nearby dealership wanted $11k for the work that supposedly needed to be done. Instead, I bought a used transmission from a local parts shop and had them send it to Ashton's. He had the car for a few days and now it's back on the road after months of not being able to drive it (and for far less than the dealership wanted). He kept me informed about what it needed in tandem with the transmission replacement and had the work done quickly. He also made sure to check if there were any other issues that needed looking at and finally corrected a parking brake issue that no other shop had bothered with. I'm glad I took my baby to Ashton's shop and would do again!
Outstanding service! Ashton and Joe are experts with auto repair. Conscientious and cost sensitive. I couldn't be more pleased with the results. I highly recommend their services. I live six hours from their shop and will make the drive for any major repairs I need done.

I recently sought to have a muffler installed on my vehicle and chose this shop due to its proximity and the assurance over the phone that they could complete the job as long as no pipe bends were involved. When I called, I was informed they would need to put my car on a lift to provide an accurate quote. However, upon arriving, they did not lift the car and instead verbally quoted me approximately $100 for the entire job, with a promise to complete it the following day.
I dropped my car off on Friday as planned. By mid-afternoon, around 3-4 PM, I was informed that they couldn’t perform the installation. Despite this, I was charged $75, which felt unwarranted. I am concerned this was a tactic to collect additional money for no service rendered.
Additionally, upon reviewing footage from my dashcam, I noticed that the hood of my car was opened—an unnecessary step for a muffler installation. Furthermore, there are gaps in the dashcam footage, which suggests it may have been unplugged at some point during the visit.

After I placed this review, the shop ended up calling me trying to get me to remove the review. Apparently, if your keys touch their hands, they do a mandatory inspection of your "oil, transmission, tires, and anything else they can say to add value to this inspection that I never asked for. Not only that, but after I placed this review, they finally wanted to quote me for a shifter install that I asked them to quote me on the same day the muffler was going to be installed. They quoted me 2 hours more and wanted to charge me more than the dealer.

The response provided by the shop is inaccurate. I anticipated paying the standard inspection fee for this area, which typically ranges from $40 to $50, and I never stated that I expected a free inspection, even though the shop that completed the work for me did not charge an inspection fee. I have the dealership's installation sheet for the shifter, and it does not require the transmission to be dropped—I know this because I performed the installation myself afterward. Regarding the muffler, it was complete with all necessary parts for installation, as the shop that ultimately installed it was able to do so using only the components I provided. Removing an axle-back exhaust does not take hours, as I was able to complete the task myself within approximately one hour using ramps. The shop I chose followed my instructions without conducting unnecessary inspections, even on a brand-new car. Consumers should exercise caution when selecting a repair shop to avoid misleading practices and unnecessary charges.
I will update this review if any issues arise with my car in the near future, especially considering it only has 4,000 miles on it.

My wife and I were headed from Indian Valley to Christiansburg on a rural road New Years Eve around 11 p when we hit a pothole and blew a tire. Our car has "anti-theft" lug nut covers, and we couldn't find the tool. So we called for roadside assistance, and settled in for a long wait.
Out of nowhere, Ashton shows up with his buddy to make sure we're doing ok. "We were riding on the ridge and saw your lights, and that they weren't moving. We wanted to make sure you were ok," he said.
I explain our predicament, and before I know it the lug nut covers are off, the flat is off, and Ashton is pulling the spare around from the back and gets down on the ground so he can line up the holes to get it on.
"On any other night, you'd have been out of luck, because I'd have already been in bed!"
***This guy is a MECHANIC and is out on New Years Eve helping stranded motorists like me and my wife.***
He didn't ask me for a penny. He told me about his garage, and said he opened it so he could help people. He told me I could leave a review for him if I wanted. I gave him every dollar in my wallet, and said thank you about a million times before we were back on track. We even made it to our friends house with 15 minutes to spare before the ball dropped.

On Labor Day weekend, my family was driving from Texas to New York to move our son to college. Just before we got to Christiansburg, the alternater gave out on my son's car and we coasted into a rest area at 6pm on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. After striking out with AAA, I found Ashton's Place via an online search. Not only did a real person answer, but it was Ashton himself. I explained our situation and he told me that if I could get it towed to his shop, he could have it up on the lift around 9:30 on Monday morning. Even though it was Labor Day. He said that it would take him about an hour to diagnose the problem (at that point we were assuming it was the alternator but wanted to be sure), and then he would call me with cost and time estimates for the job. But he was sure he would have me on the road Monday afternoon.
Ashton was better than his word. He got the car on the lift before 9:30am, because he had it diagnosed by 9:00! He quoted me a fair price and told me to give him about 2 1/2 hours. An hour and a half later he was calling to say the car was ready, and I was back on the road at 11:00am.
Ashton and his 2 employees turned what was a bad situation for us into the best possible outcome. Everyone at the shop that I dealt with was friendly, helpful, and good at what they do. They cared about a guy trying to get his kid to college on a holiday weekend and were willing to pivot to help. The big boys would have sent me to voice mail and called me back when they got around to it on Tuesday or later. I can't recommend Ashton's Place highly enough.
I hope I never have car trouble in Christiansburg, VA again. But if I do, I know who I'll be calling. Thank you, Ashton, and your entire team!
Fantastic service by the nicest guys in the business. I broke down on I-81 with my daughter and granddaughter onboard. They picked us up, fixed the problem, and had us back on the road in 90 minutes. My pickup broke down in Christiansburg, and we couldn't get any help, we called these guys and they were right there. Towed the truck all the way back to Bluefield, we're very polite and courteous, handle my truck with respect, and didn't charge me my first born child. Very happy with the service, super nice guys.

I was having some serious clutch slipping issues in my 2015 Evo X GSR and they managed to get me in quick! They easily installed my ACT clutch kit I purchased along with an ACT lightweight flywheel. My car had previously been to a shop shortly before I brought it to them that left a few things loose after getting transmission work done. Ashtons place tightened everything up for me and also suggested I get new Rotors and brake pads because my current ones were pretty much done for. With the new clutch installed, fresh fluids, new Rotors and pads the car feels 10x better than before and it didn’t take them long at all to install everything compared to past shops I’ve had work on my car. Good and honest guys who I would recommend and know what they’re doing.
On September 20th, I left South Carolina to attend a wedding in Washington DC with a stop to see a friend in Christiansburg. My van barely made it to her house. I thought my transmission was shot!
She had read reviews on Ashton's Place so we went there and I am so glad I did.
Ashton was soft-spoken as he carefully explained to me that it was not the transmission as I had thought. The fuel injector system needed to be repaired and then only needed a tune-up.
He individually listed each part with its price and corresponding labor.
I was immediately struck by his open honest attitude and kind demeanor.
I told him about my late son Michael who was also a mechanic. He simply could not continue to work for someone who required him to sell unneeded parts.
Ashton said that's exactly why I opened this place.
It was so refreshing to find another mechanic who cared about the customer as much as Michael did.

My car died while on a road trip from RI to TN, and Ashton had me back on the road in less than two hours. He prioritized my repair (alternator tensioner and belt issue), knowing I was stranded there, and even quickly and courteously dealt with his part supplier initially missing part of the order. He and his straightforward, knowledgeable crew explained and showed me everything done.
I also had a chance to sit in the office (with nowhere else to go), and I heard how Ashton breaks down his repair options to his customers: from everything that could be done to get the vehicle in optimal condition to the things that are immediately necessary to keep the vehicle on the road - giving them his advice, but ultimately leaving it up to them. Fair, honest, knows what he's there for - to help people get back on the road.
We had issues with our vehicle. We were out of state and heading home. Thank God for Ashton and Ashton's place. They went above and beyond finding us a ride to a hotel shout out to Tow 360 another great company that went above and beyond to help us out. I brought my 2018 10 speed mustang in for a transmission service after multiple other local shops refused to touch it. They had me in and out very quickly and explained everything to me very well. I definitely will be recommending all my friends and family.
Hands down the most honest and upfront mechanic I have been too in years. He kept me updated thru out the whole process and asked before doing any additional work. I took my jeep to multiple dealership garages and none of them fixed my problem but just left with a huge bill but these guys got it done and figured!!! Ashton has been extremely kind, helpful and patient and hasn't even completed the requested work yet. We've been working for months to get my heated seats repaired under warranty thru a company in maryland. He has dealt with rude and mean people at the maryland company. He has done so with grace. This has been a months long process. Ashton does not leave a call or text unanswered. He has communicated incredibly. I am greatful for him! I highly reccomend Ashton.
