We just stopped at this store to get a bite to eat. They have a small deli with a large menu. I ordered a steak and cheese. The woman did not ask what toppings I wanted so I assumed it would come with everything. When she handed it to me I asked for ketchup and mayo and she looked at me like it was a hassle. I got to my car and opened the sandwich. It was not edible. The meat was awful looking, bread was soggy and the cheese wasn’t even melted. My husband proceeded to inform me that the lady cooking was not wearing any gloves to cook the food and was handling different meats and also had a Bandaid on her finger. Definitely will not be going back. The lady at the register was not friendly at all as you would think someone at a small country store should be. Super disappointing experience.
THIS PLACE IS AWESOME!!!!! The staff are excellent, the bbq is amazing every time, and the prices are unbelievably low! It's truly a down home country store! It's a destination location, not a just a pit stop on the way!

This is a cute little store with amazing food! Got a sub, salad and quesadilla. They were all so good, the salad was very fresh tasting and quite refreshing after a long hike! The ingrediants tasted much better than chain restaurants!
Convenient and treasured by locals. Great family run store, the best people and employees. Layered bbq cup is my favorite. First time having their steak & cheese sub. It’s very good! ?? ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great (and friendly) place for a meal. The barbeque and the beef vegetable soup are especially good. Save room for the ice cream. Let me change that — the barbeque is the best I've ever had.

I always try and stop here when I'm in the area. Very nice well stocked little store. Has a good little deli type counter where they can make you sandwiches hot dogs hamburgers all sorts of things. And the family that owns it is very nice. I've never had a bad experience there with anything.

Great country store. Highly recommend to hikers heading to SNP, Old Rag for sandwiches to go or for prehike breakfast. They also have local beef to grab on your way home.
Best bacon, lettuce, and tomato ( BLT ) sandwich around area. I was on my motorcycle on this beautiful early spring day, and decided to grab lunch at The Little Country Store in Etlan. Skip Sperryville. This is the hidden gem for sandwiches and BBQ.
Nestled along Rt 231 between Madison and Sperryville, within minutes of Old Rag Mountain, this family owned business is the absolute best place to get a good sandwich from the grill, homemade bbq and slaw made right there, Hershey's ice cream, most anything you're looking for to eat, they will make it. We found the family to be super friendly and smiling, down to earth natives of the area. They do not 'deep fry' anything there, so no greasy food. Lots of locals often gather there, especially the farmers, and they enjoy standing outside to have their morning coffee and breakfast, you can hear some good stories and local lore from those men. ... one day, we happened to be in the store as the power went out from a small snow storm... where most stores would close up, the owner, Don, said he would not let people go hungry, and he began writing down what customers purchased and taped the tickets to his cash register, he even did that with the tourists and people he didn't know! Since the power was out, the card machine and cash register would not operate... he just told customers they can come back and pay him sometime... and do you know we went there a few weeks later and asked him how many of those people actually came back and paid him... and he said, "every one of them came back and paid me, even the tourists and folks from out of town".... wow, just wow ... a nice little country store with a good Christian family who runs it. *****
It's a small grocery store and has a deli.. they prepare amazing sandwiches, hot dogs, omlete and coffee.
They also prepare veggie sandwich... it was delicious...
Best BBQ around the town, if you are lucky enough to be there when he is smoking meats out front do yourself a favor and swing in to get some.

The Bbq is good for takeout and reheats well. They have hand made PIZZA also. Ice cream by the scoop is really yummy real Old Time family run business. Has a catering truck.
We stop here constantly because it's like getting a homemade lunch from your mom's house. The pulled pork is the BEST around - bar none. They owner is a super great guy and everybody who works there is very nice. Love supporting a local business!
Truly a gem and a beautiful surprise. We stopped in to get supplies, and found a truly delightful BBQ joint with local wine, beer, groceries, and friendly folks. The BBQ itself was incredible. Inexpensive, authentic, and delicious. Of all the local Sperryville experience must-see stops, this was the best food.
Stopped here before and after hiking White Oak Canon Trail in Shenandoah N.P. The general store is well stocked with food and other useful items. It also has a deli, where I enjoyed a freshly cooked cheeseburger with fresh lettuce. The bathroom was clean. And the store's friendly cat joined me on the front bench outside while I enjoyed my burger!
Excellent sandwiches!!! BBQ to die for!!! If you haven't been, you don.t know what you have been missing!!! The store is small, but the Taste is huge!!! Definitely a must try place!!!!
The Little Country Store has at least one of everything you may need to cook!!! Don is the best and the staff makes the best sandwiches - anyway you wish! Great beer selection! Stop in on way to or from White Oak Canyon or Old Rag for a great sandwich and refreshment stop!!!
