Stopped here on our bike ride, so many great snack options. Also, had salty homemade ham sandwiches. The coffee was oddly not self serve despite being on the store floor. If it was self serve I would have gotten a cup.
Family run General Store with a US Post Office, Drew and Brandi have made this a destination for Western Loudoun County because of their friendliness and knowledge of the region. The sandwiches never disappoint, but the standout for me is the Tuna Salad bowl with everything. If you don't see it, ask. This is a small, local general store worthy of continued support. By all means, wave your hand at the door and go on in.
The General Store is a diamond in the rough. The building is like stepping back in time- with wooden shelves lined in grocery essentials and locally made gifts and honey. The beer and wine selection is super. Drew’s family and store employees are very welcoming and full of knowledge of the history of Philomont and Snickersville Turnpike. Stop in for a fresh cold cut sandwich or an ice cream bar. Benches are out front to relax and watch the world go by or reminisce and chat with locals.
I love this store! It's so great having it in our little community in Western Loudoun. Drew and his team are always so lovely and pleasant when we come in and it's a great place to stop for a little treat or for something we need in a pinch and don't want to drive all the way into town for. Plus their breakfast sandwiches are delicious!
The Philomont General Store has been a tremendous blessing to our family for years! The warmth and genuine engagement that Drew gives to his customers is incredibly touching. He offers practical suggestions about the area, if asked, and offers a refuge of simplicity and old-fashioned hospitality that we could rarely find elsewhere in the bustling DC area. We travel from the area of Falls Church, intentionally and strategically including stops at his store on our field trips / family outings, because our boys adore his store so much. We have even taken family photos for Christmas cards on the store's front steps, too! My boys have special items they love to get, and Drew seamlessly remembers these items (like the classic sugar wafers), upon recognizing their faces (and we are not regulars in the neighborhood, so that recall of our family's preferences makes it even more special!). My family owned a country store for a period of time when I was a child, and have incredibly fond memories of what these places can mean to those people in the area, establishing belonging, a sense of community, and family. When asked, my three sons are (enthusiastically!) adamant that we include the Philomont Store in our stops when we head out towards the Purcellville area. My 12 year old said, "Drew is very kind and genuine, and I look forward to seeing him every time I step inside of his wonderful shop!"
Stopped in 2 sandwiches and some snacks. Had a nice chat with the owner and we discussed the history of the store. Hope to come back again soon - and the sandwiches were delish!
I have been a Philomont resident for more than 50 years. The General Store has always been a cornerstone of the Philomont community. Drew and the staff at the General Store have continued the history and legacy of prior owners and operators and have helped to make Philomont a friendly family community. You always get a friendly greeting and an offer to help find something whether you are a regular or a visitor to the store.
A Loudoun County gem - the look and welcoming hospitality make you feel like you've gone back in time. My go-to place when I need a local gift, and clutch for the great sandwich and general store stuff. Be sure to stop in!
Not the biggest selection of stuff for sale and inventory seems low, but they are very friendly and it does have a Post Office inside so those are very great bonus points. The building and general area have a great, quaint historic vibe too.
Just an awesome general store... plus has a lovely selection of beers and wines. Stopped by while out for an event and will definitely come by again. Met the owners... so friendly and helpful. Thank you.
The store is a wonderful place so good to have a early 1913's General Country Store 107 years later to see and shop in 2020 great store! great people! great barbecue sandwiches with slaw and pickles and great country ham biscuits !!!!!!!!!! P.S. and it has a United States Post office inside for you to get your forever stamps America is great!
This has been a staple of Philomont for over a century, and with good reason. The goods carried are extensive (everything from local wines to sparkplugs) and the quality of service is excellent. Give one of their sandwiches a try!

I stopped by when I was on my way to my university, I said I hope they sell local honey. When I went inside I was astonished by how classic is the store and the products that they sell. I found what l was looking for, and the very friendly staff helped me and explain they difference between the honey they offer. I highly recommended everyone to stop by and check the store.
Ideal spot to get great little gifts, fantastic BBQ and meet some truly amazing people. The environment is warm and friendly. Truly a stop you need to make
The Philomont General Store is a classic. I'm not a shopper, but they have so many hand-picked products it takes some time to look around. Their hot sauce, wine, and beer selection is excellent, their pulled pork sandwich is outstanding, and their bacon is unbelievably good. I've been told they also have knick-knacks, but I'm not qualified to rate those ;)
