The staff was very friendly! They was very understanding too, I had missed notify my bank that I was traveling at the time and they froze my accounts. The ladies was beyond understanding and didn't make me feel embarrassed or like I was holding up their time while I got money sent to me. 100% recommend stopping by here and also learning how baseball started in the war.
As it was the end of summer with still great weather, the middle of the week and around 10 AM I was highly disappointed the visitor center was not open nor anyone around. They did have disabled parking and appeared to be wheelchair ♿️ access.
It's a beautiful area of Virginia. The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. As a reenactor, I'd like parking for events to be closer, but they did have free tractor rides, which helped.

The visitor centre and museum are excellent. The on site curator is making good progress establishing a new CW site for enthusiasts and historians. Well worth a visit.
Museum and shop are really really well done. Do not let the size of the building trick you. It's full of insights on the Cedar Creek battle, the war in the valley and the restoration of the Heter house across the street. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Fortunately we're local so, we'll be back again and again. Btw:. If you're into stickers for your laptop or coffee mug, this place is a hidden gem for some clever stickers. "Gettysnerd" is brilliant.
A wonderful event and historical reenactment. Great narration during the battle was very helpful in understanding the history behind the event. Family friendly!
If you are a history buff I recommend visiting this Civil War battlefield. There is alot of military maneuvering that occurred that you may find interesting. Definitely check out the visitors center!!!
I was so impressed with how this museum has flourished! I first came here years ago, and there wasn’t much to see back then, so when I walked in today I was thrilled to see the difference! There are displays with artifacts, a sutler section, a movie, and even a dress up area for kids. (My 10 year old daughter could have stayed in that Civil War dress all day!) The gift shop had a nice variety as well. We love what this is growing into!
Something for almost everyone — history, artifacts, horses, local crafts, trails, quilts, used and new books, trails, kids’ dress-up area, and more in newly refurbished space in historic house. Drop in to browse, or get the battlefield driving tour map and make a day of it. Exhibits change, so there is always something new to see.
There is a well prepared pamphlet by the association working to preserve the battlefield. And there are well done plaques at each stop.The tour signs are orientated to drive it in proper order. Group could use whatever funding one can provide to upgrade the facilities for pulloffs and visitor center improvements.
I have reenacted here a few many times always enjoyed the experience! One of my relatives was shot on the battlefield during the war which led me to reenact on this battlefield!
