Sorry, did not finish this post. Our outpost loves this camp and the great Royal Ranger Staff that make each event special for boys and leaders that attend! ♡

Facilities were pretty good, the food was amazing, the kids there were just rude and trashy including some adults, the staff was insanely corrupt not mentioning the fact that the kids and the staff are literally the same age. I wouldn't want to come here again if I am being completely honest.

Absolutely beautiful camp for youth kids. Very well kept and easily accessible. plenty of parking.

An older Boy Scouts of America camp that serves the Shenandoah Area Council - BSA. The camp has some age on it, but the programs for first-year Scouts and merit badges is very good! If you are looking for a camp with pools, paved trails, and AC ... this is not it. BUT, if you want a camp that will build memories of good times and fun challenges with a first rate Scouting program, then here you are. I even think it can be rented for other-than-Scout-type organizations.

Camp was very nice, lots of trails to walk around with the boy scouts and great views. Nice shale pits where you can find some fossils as well. Very quiet and perfect for camping. Each campsite had a pavillion as well as bathrooms.

Great boy scout camp. Our troop enjoyed learning the shooting sports and exploring the woods in this rustic camp. Beautiful pond/lake anchors the view.

Our pack from National Capital Area Council decided to attend their shooting sports day in April 2022. About a 90 min drive for us but it was great. We've never been before and it was a little far out there but the facilities were great. Flush toilets at trading post and out houses elsewhere. Ones near shotgun field had no TP. Sadly the trading post was closed because they were upgrading their systems. Not sure if we would camp here with our cubs because the campsites were pretty small and not enough plarforms for our large pack. The rest of the campsites we saw were also quite rocky which I'm sure our cubs would be tripping over constantly in the dark. But may be a great campout for our troop to do shooting sports. Lots of trees for setting up hammocks too. The shooting facilities were great. The cowboy shootout one they used for slingshot looked really cool for rifles. We did slingshots, archery and bbs. We also had lunch at the dinning hall which was included with registration fee. Hotdogs and chicken nuggets and chicken noodle soup and chilly and cheese for hotdogs. Salad bar and drinks and cookies. It was fantastic and kids loved it. They knew their target audience. All staff was super friendly and helpful.

Amazing camp, been in the scouting program since 2012, and have been going to this camp the entire time. Amazing staff, amazing meals, amazing campsites. Just be prepared to get rained on. I have all the years going here only had it not rain while I was there less then 10 times.

CRE is awesome! Anyone who doesn't take advantage of the opportunity to join the Scouting program and enjoy these facilities is missing out on the chance of a lifetime.

Okay for the first two years but after the new wears off you see how woren it is and in need of repairs and capital improvements. BSA needs some deep pockets to improve this facility

Troop 61 always has a great time here. Great rustic camp with a great staff. Plenty of merit badges to earn. High adventure programs offered. And have an excellent climbing program.

Great 1wk camp experience for myself (Scoutmaster) & troop. Personally loved getting back on rope and rock climbing.

surprised I found it. I had a great experience here in 2000-2001 when I was 14, Knocked out a bit of merit badges, met friends, had awesome camp fires. It was a good experience to learn to sleep in cots under tents, how to start fires, most importantly make friends even from other troops. The food I thought was fine but others said it was slop. The worst of the experience is the bathrooms, It's basically in the woods aging and you'll smell it 100 yards away. Showers too. Maybe it's changed since then but that's how it was 20 years ago. Surprised it's still around!

Great camp fun for everyone, could use a little more structure, but very fun.

I always have fun and enjoy summer camp here. Food is good, the big lake is nice. The only big downside are the bugs.

Excellent camp for the Scouts, my children have always enjoyed all the activities here. They have everything from water sports to shooting sports, all the activities you would expect!

Shenandoah Area Council's summer camp was a blast in the off-season. The staff were helpful and friendly. The program areas available were abundant and the hiking was phenomenal! Would definitely recommend for any Troops in the area looking for a summer camp or a weekend camping destination!

Our favorite summer camp. Great facility with modern amenities but retains the rustic feel in all the right areas. Great staff!

Food great, programs very good, boys had an unforgettable time. We did request 72F days and bug-free nights but that request must have escaped management's list.

Been camping here since I was a boy. I love the camp and it's rustic outdoors

I've only been to one BSA camp. That said, CRE is a great place. Chow hall in the middle of the camp, there is a basic loop around the camp that has all the individual sites. Off one side is the shooting ranges. Camp sites are being redone to have trex platforms for tents, as it is rocky and all hills, this gives you a nice flat surface for your tent. Each site has water and sinks for washing. Lake for swimming during summer months.
