We spent a beautiful weekend at the Ashby Inn! The room, the service, the atmosphere, the food and wine were the best we'd had in years and we are picky French tourists :)

This classic inn complex has all the traces of home with touches of royalty woven throughout. We met friends for a birthday reunion and were able to talk into the night in the atmospheric splendor around us.

We stayed for Valentine’s Day and had a wonderful evening. Dinner was superb however no ‘either or’ choices. It was a special menu. Breakfast was wonderful with more food than could be eaten. Our room was very private and comfortable. One of the most memorable things for me was that they gave a rose to every lady and here eleven days later not a single petal has fallen off! Where did they get the roses?!!!

Location was good. Room were lovely . Food was excellent but for the price the portion size could been a bit larger. Wish a salad or veggies were offered as a side. Breakfast was excellent. Never had such delicious egg’s Benedict. Employees were lovely too.

We have been to the Ashby Inn probably 6 times in the span of about 20 years. It never disappoints. The hospitality in the rooms is excellent, down to the tiniest detail. The food and service are impeccable. We love staying in the Schoolhouse during the winter. Our first stay there, we woke to snow on the hill out back. Magical!

Dinner on a Friday night party of four. Quite expensive for the experience. The food was good; however, the service was lacking. No one offered to take our coats, we had to ask for the bread service more than once; also had to ask for our wine glasses to be refilled as well as our sparkling water. We expected more from the restaurant.

I recently stayed at the Ashby Inn and ate at its restaurant while I was there. I love the location, as it is next door to Sky Meadows State Park, one of my favorite hiking destinations. My room on the inn's third floor had an en suite bathroom, a four-poster bed, lovely decor, and a view of the nearby hillsides. The service was very good and the Inn coped well with the challenging winter weather. The food at the restaurant was well-prepared and elegantly served, although if I had to offer some criticism, the portion sizes were very small for the price paid. It would have been nice to have the option of ordering sides of vegetables or salad greens to the meal.

We have stayed at the Ashby many times and have always enjoyed our rooms and dining experience. From the friendly staff to the delicious meals, this quaint, comfortable bed and breakfast is a terrific choice for anyone who is traveling through the area. We plan to be back in a few months for another enjoyable stay.

If you like a small town feel and first class treatment, go to this bed and breakfast. The room was warm, cozy and clean. The food is served gourmet style. It sits in an area that is very quaint and beautiful. We plan on returning again next year!

Restaurant: had dinner 12/28/25. It was “fine” (we had steak and a lobster) but not great and certainly not worth the price. Service was nice but again, didn’t match the price. Some light background music would be a nice addition. The dining room for both dinner and breakfast was so quiet that everyone was whispering. Breakfast (for guests only) was very nice, service was great and there was a wide selection of dishes. The inn: we were in the fireplace room which was very cozy. The first night, the water pressure was intermittent. I get that for an older property but I called the office twice and left a message. As of our departure two mornings later, I never received a return call. I know this isn’t a full service hotel but I would think they would monitor the phone.

So Great and bast Every dish feels thoughtful and fresh, with flavors that surprise and delight. From the perfectly cooked meats to the vibrant, seasonal sides, everything tastes like it came straight from the farm to your plate. The setting is cozy and charming, and the staff makes you feel right at home. A perfect spot for anyone who appreciates creative, high-quality dining in a warm, welcoming atmosphere 5 stars⭐⭐???

We've dined at The Ashby several times and the food and service is routinely excellent. However, on our most recent visit, where we had the tasting menu with the standard wine pouring, there were a few things that could have been better, which we pointed out to our server. First the good: the grilled octopus was phenomenal (although we try not to eat octopus for ethical reasons), the pasta in black truffle sauce was excellent, and the potato-crusted halibut was delicious with the perfect size portion. The caramelized apple tart at the end was one of the best courses in the evening, and was paired perfectly with a Sauternes. In fact, all the wine pairings worked perfectly, and the sommelier was extremely knowledgeable and took the time to teach us about each wine. For the less-than-good: the foie-gras, which was sumptuous, was too large of a portion. It was also in a rich sauce that made the dish almost too rich to eat. (Perhaps most folks wouldn't consider this to be an issue). The biggest flaw was the lamb rack; while seasoned nicely and with a good sear, the interior was much closer to raw than rare, rendering the meat tough and unpleasant to eat. Service, as always was exemplary. The courses were paced comfortably and we never felt rushed. The wait staff were attentive and friendly, which is always a plus.

Outstanding in all respects. The room was immaculate, breakfast was tops, and the Inn's main host was truly gracious. Even though it was a bit before Thanksgiving, the Christmas lights were a very welcome sight. The sample of Virginia Sherry in the room upon arrival was a brilliant touch. :) In short, our visit was wonderful and I can't say enough good things. I look forward to many more return visits.

We enjoyed exploring the Northern Virginia Wine Region, using the Ashby Inn as our base. The staff was hospitable and attentive to details; meals were superb; and the location was perfect for our road tripping. This trip was the culmination of our whole year of anniversary celebrations as we have a trip each month of BIG anniversary years, and we were well feted at the inn and at wineries and restaurants in the region. Thank you for adding to our 60th wedding anniversary celebration.

This was our second time visiting the Ashby and it was a disappointment. The concierge was lovely and helpful and the rooms were still in good shape. This review mostly focuses on the restaurant, which has unfortunately gone downhill considerably since we were last here, both in terms of food and service. This place is a little high on it's own supply and charging prices that are not reflected in the quality of the food or service. The food was fine, but the servings were comically small for the quality and price presented. The menu was uninspired and unadventurous. The service was terrible - we were rushed out of there in under an hour. We didn't get our wine until after our amuse-bouche and appetizers had come, the sommelier for some reason brought out our main courses and had no idea what he was serving us, and our server never offered us the after-dinner drinks or even the option of a coffee with our desserts. The server who brought us the amuse-bouche didn't know what it was and didn't pronounce it correctly. Finally, our sommelier was so rude and off-putting. We are not big drinkers and opted for a half bottle, which was still quite pricey. When he (finally) brought out a different half bottle (the one we wanted wasn't available), he went on and on about what a good discount bottle it was, the good value for the price, etc. in a tone that made us feel embarrassed and as if we were being cheap on this very expensive meal. The whole thing was off-putting and disappointing. To cap it all off, at breakfast they brought out included something that I am allergic to, after I had told the concierge after he asked for our allergies. All in all, the Ashby restaurant has lost it's way. It's not the Inn at Little Washington, but puts on airs as if it is. We will not go back until they take a serious look at their menu, prices, and service.

Our second time staying at the Ashby and we really enjoyed the view from the Lafayette room in the schoolhouse. Great food as always. The Inn staff also recommended the nearby Arterra winery which was fabulous.

We have visited The Ashby Inn many times, and it never disappoints! The rooms are cozy, comforting, and welcoming. The staff are exceptionally friendly and personable. The grounds are quiet and peaceful. It is a short drive to many things to do: the Virginia State Arboretum, Middleburg, and Winchester among them. We have already booked our next stay! Highly recommended if you are looking for a "peaceful retreat" where you will be well treated and will experience exceptional dining.

Was are first time here, was a fun and unique experience. We were welcomed and brought to our room, which was very lovely. Bed was beautiful; pillows and the heat were my only complaints … We missed dinner but breakfast was top tier ; the server that morning was a real nice dude. He treated us well . We will soon be back for dinner and another lovely experience .

The experience was excellent! The breakfast was amazing! The bed was really comfortable but the pillows could have been more comfy. The service was really nice.

This is an 1800 restaurant that is very nice to eat at it's a very upscale restaurant with a set menu based either on pre-selected menu or a Chefs menu or regular menu depending on what you would like to have. Reservations are required and casual but yet slacks and a button-up shirt is required as well as most people dress nice to go here. It's not a cheap menu so be prepared to do this on a special occasion or with some really good friends that you have

Had brunch at the restaurant, the food was superb. Fresh complimentary biscuits were hot and perfect, the salmon tartar was fresh and had fantastic flavor. The wagyu burger was delicious and my filet mignon with egg was a wonder take on steak and eggs. Service was very friendly, all the food was above our expectations. Will be back!

Lovely historic building with absolute best service and friendliness. Gourmet breakfast was included with the stay making this an overall great value. Our stay was a delightful departure from the usual chain hotels. Looking forward to visiting again.

I went to Paris for my birthday! ? Paris, Virginia. Apparently it was named in honor of Marquis de Lafayette, who also visited my hometown of Fredericksburg, go figure. I had a wonderful little weekend getaway for my birthday with my bestie. I split up my full review into the drop down categories below because I maxed out the character limit in the main part. So please read all my details in those! But I loved staying here and dining here for dinner and breakfast. It was beautiful and peaceful with delicious food and excellent, friendly service. The room was comfortable and luxurious. I recommend sitting on the porch and taking a bubble bath while you're there. I definitely want to come back! It was a perfect weekend getaway in Paris Virginia!

Had a 3 night stay for our 50th wedding anniversary! Absolutely loved our experience!!! The room was beautiful with a spectacular view! The staff… from the inn keeper to the restaurant staff, to the housekeepers were all so very friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. The food was amazing! This is by far one of the most enjoyable getaways we have shared! Look forward to our next stay!

I was pleasantly surprised by my stay at the Ashby Inn. As my first experience at a bed and breakfast, it truly impressed me. The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating, my room was spacious, and the breakfast was delicious and filling. I would gladly stay here again and highly recommend it to others seeking a charming and quaint B&B experience.

A very quaint impeccably maintained Inn with fantastic staff and great food in a very nice restaurant located in Paris, Virginia. Quiet, homey and close by to fantastic wineries, farms and stores. This is a great getaway place to sit and relax with snacks and drinks from the gift shop. David, the General Manager was extremely helpful and can set up tasting reservations at the local wineries. With easy access off of 50/17 the Inn is located in a beautiful part of mountains. We look forward to going back.

We had a wonderful dinner at the Ashby Inn Restaurant. The views are stunning and the outdoor patio is perfect for evening dining. The food was above our expectations, and we enjoyed every appetizer and main course. The wine pairings were great selections. The foccacia bread basket is to die for, and we enjoyed dipping in the fantastic sauce from the mussels appetizer. The waguy steak was a standout. Amazing flavor and perfectly cooked to chef’s recommendation. Highly recommend. Our only disappointment was the price which was significantly above expectations - more akin to a Michelin star restaurant. Pricing seemed disproportionate, so we felt it’s not great value compared to other restaurants in that price range.

My husband and I stayed here for a quick overnight getaway. We were in the East Dominion room. We needed a later check in as we stopped for dinner in Harper’s Ferry. The drive was beautiful as the inn keeper told us it would be. The room was large, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and the servers were friendly and attentive. There was a lot to see in the area, so we will be back.

We discovered The Ashby Inn during a recent road trip. Our stay there was unplanned, but David's warm welcome and impromptu tour convinced us to stop our travels early that day. We are so glad we did! The room was lovely, with a small porch on which to enjoy an evening glass of wine and the beautiful view. Our dinner was amazing, breakfast delicious and all service was top notch. Definitely will return!

This was our first stay, for our 12th anniversary. We stayed in the Glascock room which was huge and beautifully appointed, with vaulted ceilings and a lovely patio and view. It was in the schoolhouse, so just a bit removed which made it feel cozy and private. Ashby Inn thought of everything - ice already in the room, the softest sheets and pillows, a flashlight on the keys, toothbrushes and razors in the bathroom, a stocked minifridge - we couldn't have asked for more! Our experience at the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast was incredible - service was fantastic, the food was absolutely divine, and the setting was romantic and scenic. It felt like a real escape! I would recommend it to anyone looking for a luxury experience in a natural setting close to a state park, lots of wineries, and a beautiful drive through the Virginia farmlands.
