Six+ years serviced only at VW dealers. After Stohlman’s warranty engine replacement: unsafe car, junkyard parts, lies, and police trespass.
I was a loyal customer for over six years, and my Tiguan’s maintenance history is clean and traceable: for 6+ years, ALL service—including routine maintenance, tires, and brakes—was done only at Volkswagen dealerships. That means VW dealer systems have extensive records on my vehicle. Those records can confirm two key facts:
• Before Stohlman’s engine replacement, I did NOT have these concerns (loss of turbo power, burning/fuel odor, abnormal fuel economy, etc.).
• Before Stohlman had custody of my car, I did NOT have replacements of the front LED headlight assemblies, the exhaust/catalyst system, the steering rack, or the body subframe (as shown by VW dealer service history/repair records).
In May 2025, Stohlman performed a warranty engine replacement. The moment I got the car back, it was immediately unsafe / not right: severe loss of turbo power, burning/fuel odor, abnormal fuel consumption, and other drivability issues that were not present before drop‑off.
I returned within the warranty window with a scheduled appointment. During the road test—before we even returned to the shop—VP Joe told me (captured on my recording): “no more argument, no more service.” Minutes later, instead of diagnosing what he said he would check, the dealership refused service, called police, and had me trespassed.
Then Stohlman pushed a false story about my behavior. They lied to their own staff and lied to police by claiming I was “screaming” / “making a scene.” My contemporaneous recordings do not match that narrative. A dealer can refuse service. What you do NOT have the right to do is defame a customer to justify refusing warranty obligations.
The most serious issue: my vehicle appears to have been stripped of original OEM components and returned with junkyard/salvage parts of unknown origin—without authorization and without disclosure on the repair order, the theft amount over $12,000:
• Front LED headlights: Before the repair, my lights were crisp white/blue LED. After the repair, the front lights turned dim/yellow, with debris inside the housings—and they also damaged my right-side marker light.
• Exhaust/catalyst/muffler: the part numbers/markings do not match the VIN-based OEM specifications.
• Subframe/steering rack/exhaust area: multiple components show yellow paint markings commonly associated with used/salvage (“junkyard”) parts, despite no prior replacement history.
So I’ll ask the only question that matters: If these parts were never replaced before Stohlman took custody, where did these junkyard parts come from—and where are my original OEM parts?
To be clear: this is theft and lying, and the police trespass looks like it was used to shut me up and block accountability.
Given the missing/mismatched OEM components and the inconsistent statements I encountered, I filed a police report regarding the apparent theft of parts from my vehicle. I hope law enforcement can provide the community a clear answer soon—people deserve to know the truth. And to my neighbors and fellow VW owners: if you’ve experienced similar issues, I’m willing to join forces to build a public, evidence-based platform to share documentation and help uncover what really happened.
To my shock, Volkswagen Corporate refused to investigate or protect my consumer rights. Their stated reason (in writing, via email) is that their dealerships are privately owned and independently operated, so corporate cannot force them to resolve workmanship or operational issues. This is unacceptable. If I had known that VW offers zero oversight or protection when things go wrong at their authorized service centers, I would never have bought a car from this brand. They are effectively abandoning their customers when we need that brand assurance the most.Feb 19, 2026 -
I had terrible experience at this dealership!!
I went there specifically looking to purchase a new 2025 Tiguan. I had already seen online that they had one available. However, when I arrived, they told me they didn’t have any 2025 models and immediately started pushing me toward a 2026 instead.
When I made it clear that I wanted a 2025, they tried to sell me a “loaner” vehicle — a 2025 Tiguan with 6,000 miles on it. A loaner car with 6k miles is not a new car. That was not what I came in for.
They said they would “work on a great deal” for me. I clearly explained my budget, what I was comfortable paying monthly, and how much I could put down. After I shared my numbers, the salesperson brought the manager over — only for the manager to tell me that the only way to make a 2026 Tiguan affordable at around $650 per month was if I put down $12,000.
Yes — $12,000 down.
I was honestly shocked when he showed me that paper. It felt completely unrealistic and out of touch. I left immediately.
Later, they called me saying they were going to put together a “crazy deal” on a 2026 Tiguan and asked me to come back. I even had my girlfriend take time off work to come with me on Friday. When we arrived, the manager who supposedly had this amazing deal wasn’t even there. The salesperson kept insisting we wait, but when we asked what exactly this “crazy deal” was, he couldn’t explain anything or provide real numbers.
At that point, we were frustrated and left.
Between the pressure tactics, the unrealistic down payment demand, the attempt to pass off a loaner as an alternative to new, and the lack of transparency, this was another extremely disappointing experience.
If you’re shopping here, be prepared for a lot of upselling and unclear information. I will not be returning.
The positive ending to this story is that I went to Lindsay Volkswagen of Dulles and purchased my new 2025 Tiguan with a great, transparent deal and no hidden or duplicated fees. Thank you for the terrible experience — it led me to a dealership that actually values honesty and professionalism.

Our salesman, Wali, was very knowledgeable and helpful. He was easygoing and went out of his way to make the experience of buying a car smooth and efficient. He was able to answer all our questions. And even came to the dealership on his day off - just as a snowstorm was starting to finalize our deal! All in all a great experience.

Easiest leasing experience yet and super friendly customer service! This is my third lease of a Volkswagen and I’ve been to other dealerships in northern Virginia. The whole team that helped me with this last lease were kind, not pushy, efficient, and got us in and out as fast as possible. The dealership itself was clean, well organized, comfortable and the staff seemed busy but confident and friendly. Had been receiving standard service on my 2018 Tiguan here until I took my car in and they quoted me 6k worth of repairs to get my car “working”. I had an oil leak, no lights, no smoke, no smells, no sounds…took it to another shop after thinking I would have to get a new car and that shop charged me 1500 to repair the oil leak. I also called them earlier in the year when I first noticed the leak and they just blew me off. Just drove it 10 hours straight and have had no issues. This place is a joke and tried to scam me, I would recommend only use this place for standard service however I’ll never be going back(not like they care).

We had a great experience purchasing a vehicle for my wife at Stohlman VW. This was the first dealership we visited, and even after checking out a few other places, we came back because of the honesty, transparency, and great service.
Sean Morris was the main reason we returned. He was straightforward, knowledgeable, and easy to work with, and never made us feel pressured at any point. The process was smooth from start to finish, and we felt comfortable with our decision.

Muhjeeb was so patient while I went back and forth on my options when returning a lease and getting into a new VW. I’ve tried two other VW dealerships before finding Stohlman, and both were a big disappointment when it came to customer service. About two years ago, I started bringing my car to Stohlman for maintenance, and the difference has been night and day. The service is always professional, communication is clear, and I never feel rushed or ignored.
At my last visit, my service advisor was Kaylee Anderson, and she was absolutely awesome. She genuinely seems to care about her customers and goes above and beyond to make sure everything is handled smoothly. It’s such a relief to know my car is in good hands. I am extremely disappointed with Volkswagen’s service. They added extra charges to my invoice without asking for approval — completely unethical and deceptive business practice. I tried contacting Payam, the manager, several times and left multiple messages, but he never bothered to respond or fix the issue. That level of disrespect and avoidance is unacceptable.
It genuinely feels like they try to sneak charges in hoping customers won't notice. Be very careful doing business here — look over every line on your invoice, because you cannot trust them to be upfront or honest. I had a great experience at Stohlman Volkswagen, after being in a car accident and losing my previous vehicle, I was really stressed about finding a replacement. Thankfully, Mujeebur, my sales consultant, went above and beyond to help me through the entire process. He was kind, patient, and really cared about finding the right car for me. Nasir, the sales manager, was also super helpful and understanding. He made sure everything went smoothly and worked with me to get the best deal possible. Huge thank you to Wali, Nasir, and Harry at Stohlman VW! We had a horrible buying experience at the Volkswagen dealership in Fredericksburg. We decided to look at VW dealerships further from home and it was well worth the drive! They gave us top dollar for our trade it, great rebates and discounts on our new 2025 Atlas and did a majority of our deal virtually. I bought my car from CarMax, but had this dealer install a hitch receiver. The team is eager to help and make check-in and status updates as smooth as possible.
I wish there was a little more clarity on the part options and pricing. I got quoted a different price over the phone than what I agreed to in-person. It ended up being a 33% difference. I thought the initial quote sounded too low. I don’t blame anyone, but I would be nice if I could actually look a parts list and see the pricing.
Overall, they did a great job with the install. I am happy that I got the true Subarud hitch installed because the UHaul hitch options are not very attractive and don’t blend with the car.Jul 03, 2025 -
Recently bought a used 2023 Golf R at Stohlman VW. The customer service was great. It’s cool that they don’t have pushy tactics. Of course the finance guy has to try to upsell something but that’s par for the course in dealerships and not a bad thing. It’s a business. I took a risk and bought an as-is APR tuned mk8 6mt Golf R and things have been so far so good. Anthony was my salesman. Cool dude. Generally a pleasant car buying experience. For the right deal I’d purchase there again. Thumbs up to the crew there. Anthony still owes me $1000 for taking the “I got a car at stohlman auto” picture.

My salesman Mr.Saaman Ali was wonderful! What a difference to my previous car buying experiences. At no time did I get the pressure to buy - instead he was more concerned with making sure I was comfortable with the Atlas. He answered all my questions (even after the purchase) and showed me all the new features in the SUV.
