Great place! There’s a lot going on, so it can feel a bit overwhelming your first time, but the staff is very helpful and will guide you in the right direction. We dropped off ceiling fans, some metal bars, and windows for $20. They also offer free mulch, which is nice.

Charged me for 220 pounds of material when I was dumping about 30 pounds.would of been free if I scheduled a pickup

They charge me 36$ today Saturday jully 13 th at 10:20 am for 60 pounds of plastic and paper trash

The new hours suck. Closes at 4pm on a weekend? Makes me not want to pay my taxes lol.

Excellent. Orderly. Cheaper than PW Manassas. I observed it gets busy towards 4pm when many contractors go to dump their days job waste.

My first experience. I had to get rid of a car bumper that my trash service would not take. Seemed like a long line to get in, but moves quick. Stay far right for residential line. The attendant asks what you have to dump and then charges $10. Drive around and another attendant told me which bay to pull into to dump it. Easy.

Usually things go smoothly when we want to dispose of trash. Today the workers were “having a meeting” and we waited almost an hour in a long line in the hot sun before the “meeting” concluded and we could empty the car.

Not sure why I can’t just drop off my trash. Been coming here for 20 years but it’s now apparently an employment camp or something. Just layers and layers of dudes asking stupid questions like “what do you have today”…um trash. It’s always trash. It’s a landfill. And then you pull up 30ft and some other dude will ask the same stupid question. Meanwhile driving areas are covered with junk and nails for your tires and none of these people will bend over and pick it up. Just want to drive up…and throw my TRASH in a DUMPSTER. Right now I see three dudes walking around harassing people who just want to pull up and throw away their trash and the go home

My family often comes here to drop off trash during spring cleaning season. A small tip: pack your trash into large bags, because they charge based on the number of bags. Last time, I used small bins, and after about 8 bins, it cost me $23 — not very economical. They also offer free mulch here, which is a nice bonus! The facilities are fine, and in comparison to the only one I'm familiar with, the Ft. Totten dump, it actually can handle more vehicles. My issue is with having to pay to dump things there. I went under the assumption (my own fault for assuming, but still) that it would be free, like in DC. I paid 14 dollars to throw out two couch cushions, a bag of trash and recycling, and two 3'x4'x2' cardboard boxes. Compared with DC, where I took a warehouse full of all sorts of trash, heavy, metal, electronic, etc., that seems insane. Especially when we as Fairfax Co pay a reasonable (happily) amount of tax with an economically stable and wealthy local government.

Went here for weight tickets for a military move. Free and super easy. The person in the booth was very friendly and instructed me to go directly to the “exit” scale rather than wait in line at the “entry” scale.
Feb 24, 2025 -
Very easy and convenient, residents are charged $10. If you are not in a large truck (u-haul), residents can go through the residents only booth/line which is much shorter and to the right.

This place is currently poorly managed. Apparently the trucks that pull the dumpsters are not manned or broken down, once you get past the scale the real wait begins, not enough dumpsters. Why not open building. The line is backed up to the scale

I was so scared to come here after reading some reviews. But I came in with a bunch of electronics, and the staff was perfectly pleasant and helpful. There is not a ton of signage, but I would say this place is very well organized. Went mid-week afternoon and no line to get in. Went Friday morning first thing and there was a long line!

A bit overwhelming the first trip. But once you understand the layout and how to organize your trash / recycle items, it’s very easy and efficient to get in and out. Staff very helpful to get you pointed in right direction.

Subject: Customer Service Complaint February 27, 2024 Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to express my disappointment with the customer service I received at the I66 transfer facility on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. I was under the impression that the facility would be open until 5 pm, as stated on your website. However, upon my arrival at 4:56 pm, I found the gates already closed. As I approached the gate with the intention of leaving the facility, I was obstructed by one of your employees. Another employee approached my vehicle from behind and inquired about my actions. I expressed my surprise at the early closure, to which the employee responded by questioning my demeanor. Despite my immediate apology, the employee did not acknowledge it and instead made disparaging remarks before dismissing me. This interaction left me feeling disappointed and dissatisfied. It seems that any attempt to address this issue will be futile, but I hope to be proven wrong. I had intended to return the following day, but I was prevented from doing so by the actions of your employees. I also felt threatened by the approach of the second employee. Furthermore, I recommend updating your website to reflect the actual closing time, allowing for a better understanding of your operating hours and preventing similar experiences for others. My experience at your facility today was unsatisfactory, and I believe that better customer service training for your employees would have avoided this situation. Yours sincerely,

While some workers are nice, the vast majority are arrogant and rude. Long lines at the scale and at the dump containers. I waited in the line to get to the scale more than 30 minutes multiple times. One of these times I told one of the workers one cashier is not enough during busy times, and maybe they should charge people without having to go to the scale when it's this busy and his reply was 'if you don't like it go somewhere else'. This place is the only county facility that actually makes PROFIT which we contractors, pay most of it. They treat it like a business instead of a service for the county residents, but if this is the case, they all should be fired, especially the manager, because no customer would tolerate this kind of service and rudeness from a private business, and there's no way the mgmt. doesn't know how this facility is being run.

We go there to drop off compost if we miss the farmers market drop off time near us. Easy process at least for compost drop off! The staff we have interacted with a few times have always been friendly. My toddler loves seeing all the trucks coming and going, which is an added bonus! I only wish the hours were a little later into the evening on weekdays.

We brought some trash in a trailer after our community cleanup, Kamar who's shift ended as we pulled up but stayed and went over and above the call of duty to help me and my daughter. His sunny outlook and friendly personality made a lasting impression on us. Kamar's job is physically taxing-standing for hours on end in 90 degrees heat, yet he works with a smile helping others.

People working there are militant. They intentionally create problems so people are confused and frustrated. They make us wait when many stations are open - the guy controlling the trash section just sits there reading his phone. It’s like he is hoping someone will honk their horn so he can play his power trip on them. I think Fairfax is hiring people who obviously hate others. That said, the work conditions there are horrible. It stinks, the facilities need updating, and none of that has happened in years. I used to go to the dump almost weekly and I looked forward to talking to the guys there. Not now. I avoid it at any cost. They now charge much more too - I guess the BOS and Jerry Connelly need more money for their air conditioning. There is no one in charge there, and the militant workers are awful. Welcome to Fairfax County 2023

Great place for hazardous household waste such as propane tanks, light bulbs, and batteries. It’s sort of like a drive-thru with staff present to hand your items to and make sure they end up properly disposed of. I recommend going on a Sunday because there wasn’t much commercial or municipal activity. Really cool to see where all our trash (temporarily) ends up.

Takes way too long to “check in” Shouldn’t be so involved just to drop off trash. Loudoun County is 20x faster! Huge ripoff!!!! The minimum fee is $27! That’s outrageous! It’s $70/ton. So if you have less than 770 lbs you have to pay more. A bunch of crooks!!!!!

Went to drop off a mattress and box spring.. We've dropped off large household items before but never have we had to pull up to the building housing the garbage pile and walk through filth to do it, while also avoiding large trucks and front loaders. We also had electronics and cooking oil to dispose of, which required us to exit and double back three times due to ridiculous traffic patterns. We try to do the right thing for the environment but Ffx Co makes it SO inconvenient.

Came here for the first time yesterday with a LOT of trash from a kitchen demolition. I was a bit concerned as I had no idea what to do and saw some negative reviews. I have to say, the three people I interacted with in order to use the weight station and dump my trash were all nice, helpful and patient. Kudos to them!

Ordered a bunch of storage stuff and had a ton of boxes to get rid of. The apartment cardboard bin smelled so horrible mixed with humidity, i decided to try the dump. Quite an adventure! Made sure to map everything out before i went based on other reviews... glad i did, but it’s set up so well. The cardboard and recycling bins were all lined up and clustered together neatly. Regular trash you have to pay to dispose of, then get a number from the guy at the gate to a numbered dump spot. All very exciting to experience for the first time. And it didn’t smell! It’s actually fun to dispose of stuff when you have space and easy access to disposal bins! Very organized... fun experience!

If you know where to go in the facility to dispense of your undesirable items this place is pretty good. Electronics recycling is very well organized. Hazardous waste disposal is well run as well, but occasionally we have encountered a very grumpy employee there. If you want to recycle cardboard or glass it can be a problem, often the containers are overflowing. Getting rid of stumps, branches, and logs is easy if you know to drive up to the top of the hill. Mid-afternoon on a weekend is a bad time to go, you could get stuck in a long line to pay for dumping things. There are separate areas for different things... batteries, tires, refrigerators, etc. Need to ask where to go to dump or recycle each type of item. It is unclear what you have to pay for. Obviously dumping trash requires payment, beyond that I am not sure. It is possible to skip the pay line and head to the recycle areas for instance. Happy dumping!

It’s a waste transfer station and it gets the job done. The navigation system is very confusing - there are a ton of lines when you enter the facility, so just stay calm, drive slow, and read the signs. During weekends and times around holidays it gets a bit backed up while people are doing spring cleaning. Generally pretty well run and with friendly staff, though.

Staff was courteous and helpful! Got rid of tar shingles and dropped off 15 gallons of paint in a jiffy.
