I have taken my car to Dave at the Honest Mechanic several times in the past couple of years and he has been friendly, flexible for appointments, and frankly cheaper than other garages. I must have gotten him on a bad day when I went to have 4 summer tires changed over recently to winter tires. As Dave started changing the tires on the rims, I admit I made the mistake of sitting in the garage back area as I had done before (where Dave was working) instead of the waiting room and when he started to have an issue with the tires not sealing properly on the rims, he suddenly demanded in an angry exasperated tone I go back to the waiting room. I get it, no one wants someone looking over their shoulder when there's a problem and frustration levels are rising. Again, my fault that I ventured out of the waiting room into the work area. After another 25 minutes, Dave said my winter tires must be deformed and it was impossible to mount the tires. I apologized for taking his time and had the tires mounted with no issues at another garage.
David truly cares about the work he does, give him time and you will see he is determined to find the issue. We brought in our 25 year old motor home yesterday after we started hearing a bad sound under the hood. It was a tough job but David is very skilled and sensible. I trust David to fix any vehicle.

You won’t see the business from Route 7 so look for the silo with all the cell antennae. The garage is in a big converted barn at the end of a winding driveway (across the road and 130 yds. south of the State Park Road to Mt. Philo).
We were on vacation when the old Explorer developed an overheating problem. Dave quickly found the source of the coolant leak and ordered parts.
This location is an easy bike-in bike-out from anywhere near Ferrisburgh or Charlotte, so I biked back to the Lake while Dave completed the repairs. Got an oil change while I was at it.

Had a low tire pressure indicator come on while roadtripping through Vermont. We were passing the honest mechanic and stopped in. The shop owner was so helpful and immediately offered his services. Thank you so much! We really appreciate all your assistance!

The reviews seems to indicate quite the opposite so I had to see for myself.
David proved to be true to the chosen business name. I've brought my car in multiple times now for different reasons and each time he takes the time to explain what the problem is and how he's planning to fix it. Always going the extra mile in making sure the car is properly serviced and always for a fair price.
You can tell he's in his element when working on a car!

My transmission was slipping bad and out of desperation I pulled into the closest mechanic shop I could. Even though it was almost closing time, he worked on my car for 30 minutes. Sadly my car needed more than a quick fix so I called a tow truck and when I tried to pay for the labor he put, he wouldn't take my money. It was a real sucky day but I so appreciate the help I got. I'd recommend this shop to anyone.
David was super big help and he took the time to walk me through what was going on with my car and any other question I had. He got me in quickly and got the job done even quicker. Really nice dude, really cares about his craft. As the name says he really is an honest guy, he was honest with me every step and gave me a very honest price. Not from the area but if I ever myself living near again I know where I’ll be going for my car repairs.
Dave is easily the most reasonably priced in Vermont that I’ve ever seen. I’d recommend going to Dave with any issue you have as he is as his name states, honest, and extremely personable. He did great work on my brakes and it was hundreds or dollars less than what I have paid for brake pads/rotors in the past. Seriously, don’t go anywhere else but to Dave!
Dave is seriously the man! We've been having some issues figuring out what's been going on with the cooling system in my GTI, but he's been super thoughtful and accommodating throughout the diagnosing and repairing process--you can tell that doing good work and helping folks out really matters to him. He's definitely the most honest (and affordable) mechanic I've ever worked with. I've had a tonnnn of awful experiences with other shops, so I couldnt recommend Dave more highly! For real though, don't take your car anywhere else but here.
Excellent service! Met me at a gas station where my car wouldn't start, diagnosed the issue and fixed it well enough for me to get to the auto parts store for the new part it needed.
David is kind, personable, and as his name suggests, honest. He works very hard and is willing to explain the work he does which I really appreciated as someone who likes to understand the "why" and "how" behind work on my vehicle. I first came to him for winter tire install which he did the same day, whereas everyone else in the area had at least a 2 week waiting time. He discovered my rear wheel bearing was totally blown and unsafe to drive with and was able to get my car back to me the next day. He also replaced the other side for me on the day I needed to leave the state (in my car) to travel for Christmas. I am certain no one else in the area would have been willing to do the work in such short notice, especially for a new customer. Since, I have gone back to him for an oil change and the turnaround was faster than I have experienced at any other shop. David really values and cares for his customers, has incredibly reasonable prices, and is completely transparent about his work and part pricing. I would recommend him to anyone in the area who is looking for a good, personal relationship with their mechanic. Thank you, David!
I called Dave, pressed for time and with a flat tire. He told me he would be able to accommodate me just as soon as he finished the job he was currently doing. I arrived at the agreed time and his timing was spot on. He went the extra mile by a lot. The leak in my car's tire was not at all obvious. Turned out to be a wonky gasket in the air valve. He's patient, friendly, analytical and truly honest. I will be going back for all maintenance and repairs from now on.
The honest mechanic is exactly that. I was treated kindly and my tires were mounted and installed professionally. I will definitely be looking forward to continuing business in the future.

His attention to detail is exceptional and you can tell when you bring your car to him that it's not just a job to him but that he is personally invested in the project's outcome. He's also really knowledgeable. He figured out what was going on with my car after a few other mechanics couldn't. Plus, he's just a super nice guy. I can't recommend him enough!
Nice to have another option in the area for car service, and I'm happy to support a new business started by a young local. It's also great during this busy time of year. David only did tires for me today, but after my visit to the shop and talking with him, I will definitely return for other types of service. If you plan to wait for your car while he works on it, wear something warm, as his waiting area is still under construction!
