What clients say about Barge Canal Market in Burlington (VT)

The store has good selection. Pricing is okay, not a bargain. However, customer service was awful. The younger male, was rude and not helpful at all to me and my family. We have purchased several items drom this store in the past and definitely do not deserve that kind of treatment. We won’t be going back. The business lost great customers.

Host of the one and only Burlington Vintage Market, stay a while and check out the awesome store inside!

such neat finds, a great place to get souvenirs if you’re visiting from out of town

Beautiful place full of interesting treasures! I love to wander and get ideas and this place is perfect for that!

Exciting selection of very nice vintage furniture and home goods of all types. A lot of gorgeous mid-century modern pieces. Cool playful atmosphere.

I'm lucky that Barge is in Burlington and not where I live, because I'd struggle to not spend my paychecks here! Go for the expert curation - from vintage decor to choice clothing and fashion and even local artist pieces. I bought way too much and am going back again before I leave town. Until next time, Barge!

BCM often has rare finds, I’ve bought several items there. Most prices are reasonable. The staff are friendly and welcoming.

We stop in all the time to check out new inventory. Our house is pretty much full of great finds from Barge Canal. Fair prices and beautifully displayed.

Was disappointed. The one item I was interested in, was not available. I was interested in possibly ordering it online. They gave me their card to their website with basically nothing listed . Not helpful at all.

I purchased a beautiful $500 set of wicker patio furniture in great condition on May 27th. The staff was accommodating and friendly, very understanding of the fact that I didn't own a car and would take some time to come pick my set up. I was told I had 8 weeks to pick it up. Less than four weeks later I called them to ask if the set was in a good space to come pick up, when I arrived with my box truck, an employee helped us retrieve the set from storage. Unfortunately the set was significantly scratched up, a lot of the rose colored paint had been scratched off showing the white paint underneath. When we pointed out to our "helper" that the set was damaged his response immediately was to tell us it was our fault for not picking it up sooner. He went on to tell us we waited 6 weeks and things get damaged if they remain unclaimed. He told us we were wrong on our time line, refused to see the damage and spoke to us in a tone of voice so rude I honestly thought he was joking. I will own up to the fact that I had a couple missed calls from them asking about when we were coming to pick up our items. In each call the staffer reminded me I had 8 weeks to pick up my items before forfeiting them. The only redeeming moment in this interaction was his offer for us to return the set. It's a bummer because the set was great, I loved it. In the end it wasn't about the damage, it came down to being spoken to and treated so rudely. I honestly wouldn't stand being treated like that for free, let alone after spending $500 dollars.

Lacking personality....employees way too busy with their personal social life. Zero customer service. Heard the F bomb too many times for a 20 min visit. I would have loved to purchase something but customer service was huge turn off. Won't be back.

Found some decent things when I stopped by this place. Customer service was okay.

Mediocre quality vintage furniture and accoutrements with Manhattan prices. Some unique and fun finds for sure, but the prices dissuade the reasonable shopper. Come on folks, make a positive difference here!

Best vintage store in the Burlington area with frequent new additions, great mid century modern pieces

I checked this place out for the first time and fell in love with it. The girl that served us was very helpful with a great personality. They have a lot of things so I suggest you take your time or you might miss some gems. I scored a vintage cape.

Awesome place for finding treasures old and new. Consignment style shopping with creatively curated areas. Definitely go in and walk around. It's also not too far from the world's tallest filing cabinet so visit that while you're out that way.

This is a treasure trove of vintage and repurposed stuff. You just never know what you will find, but the trip down memory lane is well worth the visit.

Great vintage shop! Very nice owners, you never know what fun items you may find here. Highly recommend it if you are into retro furnishings and decor. There is also a small classic comic book/toy niche.

Such a cool place just to walk around and browse, but you can find some real vintage treasures at very reasonable prices. It's worth coming back again and again to check out new offerings.

I always find things I love here and their displays are so wonderfully creative. It's a fun experience to shop for vintage items!

I enjoy how the store is arranged by theme and time period. For example, in one corner of the store you might find a complete living room set with all 1950s vintage accoutrements, in another corner you might find a different scene altogether. They have something for everyone and the staff are lovely!

Fun vintage and antique spot. Rarely does the word "fun" come to mind when visiting an antique store. Maybe something like "musty" or "rustic" but rarely fun. Not the case for Barge Canal which carries a lot of great items and combines that with a lively atmosphere and great staff. This is a must-visit for anyone who has never been and loves antiques and mid-century goods.

Barge Canal Market agreed to buy a piece of furniture from us on July 6. On July 10, they said they would be out-of-town for 10 days. On July 24th, eighteen days after our initial agreement and 2 days before our move, they told us they would be out of town again, through the date of our move, and that the piece would not fit in their van anyway. They made an agreement with us, and left us holding the bag with a valuable piece of furniture that we no longer have any opportunity to sell.

Great finds and very helpful service. Found a sweet reconditioned 1940s liquor cabinet - sandblasted and sanded, sweet sets of mid century modern glassware that match, and a couch for the porch. All great stuff. They even delivered the couch for free because I live close.
