Easy process to sell some household scrap metal (appliance, brake rotors). All staff was helpful, professional, and courteous. And I got a couple bucks!
I'm an owner of a local excavation company, when I tried to deliver a load of metal, not contaminated with anything but metal they flat out rejected me.. if they don't like what you got in your trailer, even if it's metal, they will reject you. I had 99% aluminum poles with one roll of bar wire and one loose wire.. they do not accept Barbwire even though it is metal. Because they don't wanna deal with it. However, I checked their website and it says nothing about that as a rejected item had I known that I wouldn't have drove an hour and a half to get there.
I like this place when it's open! I have went at least four times now 45 minutes before closing due to work schedule, and gate is locked... I had to find somewhere else.
2025 update
New location is much better
Metro Recycling has been our go-to for the last 5 or 6 years. They're always easy to work with and friendly. The main reason we quit going to blooms is because their customer service sucks.
I have recycled many times here, and I can honestly say they are always friendly, helpful and very honest. Everyone is helpful and approachable. This girl is always happy leaving here. Thanks Metro!
Says they close at 2, show up at 1:46 and they say sorry we stop letting people in at 1:45 so that 1 minute makes a big difference I guess. Why don't they just say they close at 1:44
Good place to take your recyclables. Could be a little easier getting in and out of the yard. It always feels a but like a traffic jam. People who work here are very nice.
I’ve always brought my scrap to Metro since I moved to Utah in 2017. That will change after yesterday. I sort by composition and bring metals to the correct area. I had stainless steel separated from mild steel and brought the stainless to the appropriate area after unloading mild steel in the yard (and having a crane operator throw his arms up and fuss at me for backing up where the scale master told me to go).
The employee weighing the stainless looked very confused after checking with a magnet. Stainless steel contains iron and stainless steels very in magnetic force. A magnet isn’t a good way to determine stainless from mild steel.
I only noticed today after looking at the receipt that he billed all of the stainless as mild steel. How unfortunate. Minor amount for them, but enough for me to complain about.
I was first sent to building three to drop off a tankless water heater, they sent me to building two, where I was then ignored while trying to get the attention of a worker.
Eventually after going back up front to seek further assistance, I was finally helped.
While the truck scale is a little hard to maneuver both ways.... That was completely forgotten after dealing with the office manager. She was friendly, on point, and a good energy after a long day of work.
Wow customer service was on point first time coming to metro. The women working front counter very nice also the guys in the back were happy to help me unload my rims. Got a real good price on my aluminum. Overall no one wants to work on a Saturday but this place was happy to help. I will be telling my friends s to come over here from now on.
What a great place! We took an old appliance to recycle last month and we're impressed with their service and helpfulness. We were even more impressed by their kindness to our special needs grandson... he wanted to see them smash an old school bus and they told us to bring him back in a couple of weeks and they'd do it for him. Today we took him back and they were amazing! They remembered him and their promise and he was so excited to watch as they smashed the school bus for him. He will always remember his fun adventure and we will always remember their kindness and helpfulness going above and beyond for our grandson. We very highly recommend and appreciate this business and their employees.
Lazy operators, they want you to backup to on nails. I was 5 ft away. I went in to the office where some little emotional girl named Mike, I think or the manager. Wants to yell at me. And tell people his problems.
Like if you wasn't so cheap you have cement. So you don't have to dump in mud. And scoop it out.
Great, helpful, knowledgeable and friendly staff helped me promptly and with a smile as opposed to the other place where I have taken recyclable steel. I don’t know everything about metal but always separate the metals here they’ve shown me some tricks to tell the difference the other guys act like I should know or that I did know and was trying to get over on them. I understand dealing with the most the people who are recycling is not easy cause alot are drug addicts and are stealing their scrap I’m not!!! I also understand dealing with the public can be less than fun but metro is always professional, prompt and friendly others… find a new line of work if you’re going to treat people like they are inferior.
Went here to take a trailer full of metal in for recycling. I called in advance and they were very helpful and patient with my questions which made me more comfortable to use them for my load.
My only complaint was when we pulled into the yard, it wasn't very intuitive on where to go but we did find the scale and were able to get weighed quickly and directed where to drop our load. We had a big load and it was taking us some time so one of the employees came over and helped unload some of the load when nobody was waiting at the scale.
We got unloaded and weighed again and went up to the front office to get paid. Was glad to see that they were checking IDs as metal theft for recycling is a thing. Managed to get over $100 per ton of steel and they even had a coupon that I had downloaded from their website to get $5 more per ton.
Was an easy experience overall and now that I know where I'm going when I pull in the yard, will be sure to go back again.
This is the type of business you go into and expect a bunch of ornery, gruff people, but it couldn't have been further from the truth. Super friendly all the way down the line, and didn't seem bothered that I only had a handful of items. Got a decent price on my catalytic converter too. Will come back for sure.
I previously went to a place in Logan and it was very disorganized and when I found the office some guy flew out with a skid steer loader and almost hit my wife, we were walking into their office no more than 20ft away. I walked in and it took them 15minutes before they got with me and the guy looked at my catalytic converter in my hands and said $20 and I told him I felt it was worth a little more and he looked at me annoyed and shrugged. I left that place quick.
Then I went here! I pulled right in and saw right were I needed to go. Good reception area right next to the road. The man at the desk was super friendly and studied the parts I brought in and I was offered nearly twice as much $ for the same part. He was very friendly and quick. He assured me that they cared for their customers. Great experience, my buisness comes here for now on.
