What clients say about Copart - Salt Lake City in Magna (UT)
Id give it less than 1 star if possible. They are thieves and liars. My car was totaled out and so I went to get mine and my kids stuff out. However my daughters entire duck collection and my brand new cooler were no where to be found They first said it wasn't there when the car came. They showed the pictures and you see my daughters ducks on the dash!!! Those were her entire world and they just took my stuff. Ridiculous.
Absolutely outrageous experience with Copart. I paid full price for a "Run & Drive" car that was listed as having "normal wear" and no engine lights indicated. When the car arrived, it had a rattling, broken engine—far from what was advertised. I reached out to their manager to address the blatant misrepresentation, and he gave me the most absurd excuse, claiming the engine lights weren’t showing because the car wasn’t turned on in the photos. I checked the dashboard photo, and it was clearly framed to exclude the RPM gauge, intentionally making it impossible to tell if the car was even on. Check the picture attached to see the deception for yourself. The manager was utterly useless, telling me there was nothing he could do and instead suggesting I call other numbers to try selling the car. When I asked if I should advertise it with the same misleading "normal wear" label they used, he smugly replied, "I can't advise you on what to say." The lack of responsibility and integrity here is shocking. Copart, do better. Stop deceiving and failing your customers.
I had a terrible experience with this company. They "cleaned out" my car before it had been released to them. When I asked where all my things were they said "in the trunk, and if it was important we have it in an envelope." When the finally found my envelope there was only the registration and license plate. I lost over $500 in items and some irreplaceable personal items. When I asked about the missing items they told me the other tow company must have taken them. Um - no! The images Copart sent my insurance company upon arrival showed all the items still in the car! They stole my stuff and all they had to say for it was - make a claim for the items with your insurance company. This is just a thing to say to get me out of their office... most basic car insurance plans do not cover personal items that are in the car, its covered under a different type of plan and that deductible is typically high. They were dishonest on many accounts. The receptionist was rude and very unhelpful. I have never been treated so rudely. When I emailed a GM they were slow to respond and needed a bunch of info from me before they could help me and by that time my items were gone - either in the thief's pocket or trash. I was very disappointed a the lack of effort made to remedy the situation and make it right.
this place is one of the most inconvenient and untrustworthy places to buy a car from. Do not do it. I bought a CLEAN TITLE with "certified" NO ACCIDENTS on record that said it was able to run and drive. Originally I won it off auction at 350, the seller counterbid at 775 which is fine on their part, but the copart fees completely blindsided me as a first time buyer. Wish they made that much more apparent. I walked out the door paying over DOUBLE what I had bought the car for in the fees alone. Travelling an hour up to Salt Lake from Provo, I was faced with the daunting task of having to set up a business account to even set an appointment, which I did not know I needed, to go into the lot and pick up the car. Upon delivery to my house, the car was in terrible shape. It looks like it had been sideswiped, despite being certified with no accidents on their records, and when I attempted to drive it for the first time the transmission was completely shot. It would not move an inch, and putting it into reverse was somehow even worse as it made the most horrid slamming noise and promptly shut off. In short, unless you have the funding to deal with all the curveballs Copart throws at you, this is the last place to buy a car from. Don't make the mistake I did.
They took my plates out of my car and they didn’t put it back. Not even the screws so annoying! Had to buy a new ones! THEY LOVE STEALING SOMETHING FROM YOU!

My car got totaled it was dragged to this place. Before i could come and grab everything. They threw everything into the back, in a bag with a broken bottle and liquid in the bag. A couple of things were destroyed because of their carelessness. I’m also missing a couple of items
Would give less stars if able. Customer service is terrible. Sat for nearly an hour before they were willing to help me and even then they forgot to give me the title. Made me wait another 30 min before I could talk to someone to get the titles
I spoke to the office manager Amanda. She was crass at first. You can tell she is overwhelmed and under staffed. You will waite a hour or more doing anything here. The staff are often rude, probably because they are over worked and under paid. Corporate is the problem as far as I can see. I guess just try to be understanding with staff.
Terrible place! State farm towed my son's truck here for appraisal we decided to keep truck living 3 hours away went to pick it up took them 2 hours to bring it out on inspection we found a brake line like shock bent in half dash mat thrown in the back with some other trash from other vehicles they lost my license plates somehow.
I saw the reviews and specifically asked when I could come by and inspect in person. They said M-F 8-5. When I arrived after a long drive they said sorry that can only happen Tuesdays and Fridays 8am-10am and limit is three cars. Came in on Tuesday early and they were friendly in person, but the process was strange. They forklift the cars to an inspection area with an escort and a jump starter. One of the cars listed as run & drive didn't start and had significant and new body damage on the doors clearly after the pictures were taken.
This place is a Joke. They keep raising and adding new fees and their service just keeps getting worse. Been sitting here in the yard for over an hour and they haven’t loaded a single car. What’s the point of making an appointment on my end if Copart can’t fulfill the commitment on their end. I dread coming to this place. Clown Show! JC.
They only allow 4 hours a week (Tuesday 8-10am and Friday 8am-10am) for members to come look at cars. If you’re not here right when the door opens, you will not be able to go out into the yard. They have one employee walking people out to the vehicles they want to look at. Even being third in line from when the doors opened I almost didn’t have enough time to look at the vehicles I wanted to look at.
My car was in an accident and towed to thier magna yard for inspection because it was assumed totaled due to the amount of damage. Which it was , but I decided to keep the car. So my insurance company had Copart tow it back to me . And when I got to where they dropped it off, I found many more things damaged . They had broken both inner tie rods one in 2 places they bent the push bar on my front bumper down which messed my bumper cover up , and they some how knocked the drivers window off track as well as destroyed 3 tires and damaged the rims. Like I get it was totaled but how can these thing even happen?
If you buy a car the loader driver will probably damage it... or parts will be missing from what is shown on the pictures... They SERIOUSLY need more staff! If you come here pkan on waiting for AT LEAST a hour before they talk to you. The staff are always looking busy but seemingly doing nothing. The parking area can be totally empty but you will still wait a hour. Plan for it. I've never seen more than one staff helping people.
I have never experienced such a horrible customer service and awful reviews, but now i understand why not even the tow trucks wanna go to get cars out of this location ! i guess they either need a REAL MANAGER tha can actually run things cause its very unefficient the way they run this location. I buy from COPART a lot but when i found BAD LOCATIONS LIKE THIS ONE, i checked them and i never come back. I guess we all learn the lesson. I Will totally recommend to the Corporation to RE TRAIN Managers especially so they can properly run a store.
They sat on my vehicle after my insurance requested the tow for multiple business days. very difficult to get a hold of them via phone. terrible experience with them.
Untimely, inconvenient and unhygienic Problems a-z Took them 5 days to pick up my truck that I use for my business. 5 days that I can not get paid for due to their laziness. Went to pick up my stuff today, took them from 10:30-4:15 to get my truck in a place where I could go through it and get me personal belongings. Look in the truck and it had been cleaned out and everything I owned was thrown in the ded and soaking wet. Snow rain and piss, a piss bottle was thrown in my truck on my stuff and it leaked. I went in and they tried to blame it on another car yard. They picked it up from a gas station there wasn't another company to blame. Then they told me to call my insurance agency because it wasn't there problem. They were the ones that did it and refused to be accountable. Overall it was a displeasure to work with them and with all their reviews agreeing I am surprised they still are a running organization
My vehicle was mistakenly taken to this facility and when I realized it had been taken here instead of a fix it shop needless to say I was very upset knowing why vehicles are taken to this facility. My vehicle was picked up from this facility and taken to the correct shop and while inspecting it i noticed it had be rummaged through and items were missing/stolen. I called Copart and informed them and was told everything should be out of tge vehicle before it arrives at this facility. Being that the vehicle was not supposed to be taken to this facility in the first place why would I have taken everything out of it? And because it's at your facility does that give your company the right to rummage through things and take what is of value? I feel That a honest and reputable company would at least contact the owner and let them know we have these items and would you like them or should we disregard them. The lady on the phone, which anybody answering calls represents the company, did not even apologize or have empathy. She said not our fault.... It's no wonder they have the rating they do. I would love to have a choice selecting a negative star rather than the one star option....
My vehicle has been needing to be picked up for 4 days my keys have been left in the car for the company to pick up because i can't attend my car because I have a work schedule like most people. My insurance scheduled the tow and between insurance and Copart, I am not getting anything resolved. I called them 3 times since it got hit and they keep saying today it will be picked up and that I will get a call from the driver when pickup happens. I think I get calls from them and I answer, but no one is answering back. I've gotten 2 calls from unknown numbers the past 2 days and answered and said hello 3 to 5 times and either they can't hear me or the line is not working. I do not know if it is the driver phone numbers or not, but with the timetable I keep getting it is pretty similar to the tow company. I have called the magna Copart and apparently again it was supposed to get picked up after 5pm and I also found out that no one has been leaving notes that I would not be available to be around when it's getting picked up. My keys have been in the car for 4 days and I still am waiting for a pickup. I can't call anyone after 5pm. This is ridiculous.
I’ve been buying cars from Copart for about 2 years. This facility is not simply the worst, but by far. I have several gripes but will focus on the most relevant. 1- if a car is listed as runs and drives, it does exactly that. If there is a known mechanical issue, that is listed. Only at this Copart is that not the case. I purchased a vehicle from this location that was listed as runs and drives, but when i got it, it had already been diagnosed as inoperable with the paperwork on the passenger seat. Why would they not list the known mechanical issue? No other location i have purchased from does this. If there is a mechanical issue that is known, that is disclosed. 2 - the scheduling process at this location is useless. Schedule an appointment and miss it? Oh well, try again? No other appointments? Come back tomorrow. But if you’re on time? Doesn’t matter! 2 hour wait!
Copart needs to improve its management of this facility. The staff's lack of care for customers is unacceptable. Customers should not have to wait for long periods to make payments while staff members casually walk around. It's time for Copart to step up and do better.
Very unprofessional. There is never anyone at the front desk and when there is it is only one person with a line that will make you wait forever. I’ve been coming for over a year now and I am not happy with this place. Would definitely NOT recommend
Nothing new, I’m hauling cars for over the country and for sure this is the worst place to work with. If you have something to do here take a day off because you cannot program your schedule if you have copart in your list. Encourage you avoid this place.
Plan on spending a chunk of time waiting to be helped, they had one person helping a room full of people. When I arrived it said 9 minute wait, 40 mins later it changed to 16 mins, then 26 minutes. When I asked what was happening the guy said it would likely be another 45 mins after I’ve already been waiting 45 minutes to clean out a car and drop off the title.
This place is terrible, from customer service to bidding, to auctioning, to picking up a won lot, to loading a car onto a trailer, and to even making an appointment. Staff is no help, the employee’s are low i.q (they gave me the wrong title) and they lie on mostly all of their lots. Almost convinced that every car on this lot that “runs and drives” does not. Go through any other auctioning place cause this place is ungodly with the amount of fee’s they have.
The vehicle was taken here immediately after the wreck happened. Every single thing that was left in the car was stolen. The manager says that it was like that when it arrived and here is a picture to show it. So basically, while being towed, someone managed to hop in the car and remove the seat and steal the amplifier, speakers, and employer's equipment that was in the car. THESE GUYS ARE CROOKED AS A DOG'S BACK LEG! GET ANYTHING VALUABLE OUT OF THE VEHICLE BEFORE THEY TAKE IT.
i bought a posted a car with a clean Utah title and when it was sold and paid for it now has a salvaged non registerable title. Talking with Amanda Paul the office manager she said its not her problem and i can pay them to relist the car correctly.
ZERO STARS...these people are thieves!! My daughter was in an accident. We weren't sure whether the car would be a total loss or not until our insurance company inspected it. It was later valued at a total loss. We made an appointment to come and collect her personal items in the car however still gad to waot for over an hour. Lots of items were missing from her vehicle. Her shoes and clothes and some other miscellaneous items. THE ABSOLUTE WORST!
This tow company stole my car thinking it was one of their own. All they had to do was check the license or vin but just assumed and took it. I came out of my house and my car was gone. Once we tracked my car down their junk yard was closed so we had to come back the next morning. When we came back we had nothing but rude employees and also the worst managers ever. Not one person had people skills and nobody wanted to help me. I seen my car and told them they have the wrong car. As I was telling them I see one of their employees coming around the corner with a tractor. I ran out and told them please give me 5 minutes to prove you have the wrong car. He picked it up anyways and took it to the back.(I have videos of their employee damaging my car) Damaged the bottom and also hit another car with my car. They threatened to call the cops on me and still accused me of being in the wrong. Finally it was my turn and I was able to prove them wrong. Not one person there took accountability or apologize to me. My check engine never came on but after this incident it has!! How dare this company do this and shame on their employees especially their managers. Do better and train your employees that you are not always right and people have lives too.
What's the point of having us drivers make appointments if we still sit around for over an hour (every time!) waiting for them to bring us our cars? They've got like 8 forklifts but only 2 or 3 are ever going. We have other appointments to keep too!!! Picking up 2 cars shouldn't take 2 hours.
