Great place to take metals for recycling. First time going there. They are very helpful and great to work with. One point to be aware of. If you have a hard hat and reflective vest. Bring it, you need one to exit your vehicle once you are on the property. They do have loaners. Easy to get around and like I mentioned, super helpful.
AS OF 3/15/2026 There is overnight parking at the 76 fuel station and A&W of the exit within 2 miles. There is also overnight parking across the street in their staging area if there is extra room. Gates open here at 4:00am to get in line. And that’s literally when you need to be in line. All flatbeds, side dumpers and Vans need to be in line to be scaled in. The line goes pretty fast to get in. But the scale doesn’t open until 7:00am so the line definitely grows. They close at 3:00pm so hurry and get here. Asia is the main check in lady and super nice. All other staff is also nice, quick and know the process. If you don’t mind the muddy paths of the recycling yard then you should be fine coming here. I’ll definitely come back just because it was an easy morning.
do they answer their phone? or is it just there for decoration? can’t count how many calls i’ve made and no one answers. want to make sure what i bring is fine as is or needs prep. but if you don’t answer the phone then I’ll take my recycling elsewhere.
‼‼The people are super friendly; they will give you all the direction that you need. You must follow ALL of them like you’re in kindergarten. A hardhat and safety vest must be worn at all times. 5 mph, and the reason for one star is it’s one scale for inbound and outbound. Also, just driving on the yard, you can get stuck or get a nail in your tires, and also, you’re going to have a hard time picking up a load because it’s going to mess up your trailer on the inside; it’s very dirty, and the smell is bad. ‼‼
Make sure you have nothing planned as only 1 scale took 4 hours to get in and out company definitely needs to invest money in getting another scale instead of equipment
First come first serve so plan accordingly. Easy check in and scale. Quick unload (less than an hour for me) with a van trailer full of shredded foam and metal. The yard is not bad though for my first time in here it went fairly well.
I am a "transplant" from Sandy, Utah to Malad City, Idaho, but my lovey wife is a - "local" - born & raised here. But at age 19, I stole her away , but when we moved back (56 years later) we found out the locals are a bit weary of us Utah transplants, but realized that actually I am only a 1/2 transplant & 1/2 local - hanging onto her apron strings - :) Prior to arriving here in the small, out in the sticks, country bumpkin town of Malad, Idaho; we came from the highly congested/metropolitan/crowded/ traffic- laden, Sandy, Utah. And over many of those years we used Western's SLC recycle; finding them professional, well organized, happy workers, & having good prices, but glad to now have WESTERN RIGHT HERE & plan on receiving the same professional & friendly services as have had in the past. :)
