Dave changed the clutch and flywheel on my 2008 Subaru Impreza STI. He gave me an accurate time frame of when he'd be able to work on my car and how long it would take for an affordable price. He takes pride in his work and it shows. I'm happy with the service he provided and the work he's done on my car!

Dave was very friendly, great communication. He got me in as soon as he could and did the repair to my tail light quickly, explaining what had gone wrong in a way that I could understand without feeling like I was being talked down to. His prices seem good to me, although I will warn that he is cash only, so be prepared for that. I'll definitely be going back if I need his help again.
This place is great! The owner took the time to figure out exactly why my ac wasn't working after I had my alternator fixed elsewhere. What could have been several hundred dollars in repairs, was actually an easy fix and only $65!! Super impressed! Will be going back for other repairs in the future!!
Brought a vehicle in that was having starter issues(2010-2013 Honda known issues). I got a quote from dealerships saying it was a bad starter/bad wires/ etc. from around the area and it was way $$$ over priced. Took it to Dave and literally within 2 seconds of him opening the hood and listening to starter he found the issue and fixed it for a substantially less amount. Dave is a book of knowledge when it comes to Toyota’s/Honda’s and would recommend him to anyone who owns/operates a Toyota/Honda.
Dave is very honest, experienced and just an amazing human being. Prices are very reasonable. Take car of your car like it his own. Definitely would recommend and if have any problems with my car that’s the only place where I would take it to.
We used Dr Yakamoto’s for a timing belt change, replace water pump, etc. The owner is a straight shooter and knows what he’s doing. I called and got estimates from 5 to 6 other mechanics and he gave me the best price. He took the time to find the best prices for all of the parts and didn’t mark them up. Great price. Good service.
They just don’t make them like this anymore...in fact, I’m not sure they every made them like Dave. He is a one of a kind mechanic that gives you straight talk and that is hard to find these days. He isn’t interested in gouging you for profit by offering you a bunch of things that you don’t need. In fact, he saved me about $2000 by telling me that I didn’t need something that I thought I did. You can tell he is a “working” mechanic and his only labor charges are for an honest days work. I’d recommend him to any of my friends for any type of car. I’m sorry I can’t bring him with me when I leave the local area!
Great guy, got the job done fast and half the price of the dealership. Because he is a certified Honda mechanic he warranties the job for as long as the original warranty, provided you use OEM parts of course.

He may be a bit more than blanks garage, or blanks auto care, but you have real piece of mind with the warranty and great service.
Had work done at another shop done, guys told me motor was gone. Took to Dr. Yakamoto, replaced fuel pump and back in business. Very good mechanic, honest and very experienced. He has alot of repeat customers, that's shows alot about the job he does.

This is by far the best mechanic I have ever been to and certainly the best in the city of Wichita Falls. I was shocked to find that dave (the owner and mechanic) runs the place by himself. He has always been incredibly friendly and incredibly fair in his pricing. He gets things to me unbelievably quickly and once he fixes it, it stays fixed. I normally drive junker cars that most mechanics don't want to touch or try to do a lot more than what I'm asking to get a bill to run mch higher. Dave does not do that. He's a phenomenal mechanic, I wouldn't suggest you go anywhere but him.

I had a clutch problem which prevented the use of my shifter. He quickly diagnosed the problem and had finished the job in a short amount of time. He also noted that there was a part that had broken off of my shifter which I had no idea about. He was able to order the part for me and my vehicle has never performed better. He's proved to be an honest and reliable man and there's no doubt he'll be the first person I call for any future issues.
While visiting Wichita Falls, I went to this mechanic because of the wonderful ratings. Boy, was I WRONG. The mechanic was fully aware that I was traveling to IDAHO the next day. That's a 19 hour drive. My car was misfiring. Instead of addressing THE PROBLEM, he charged me $150 for "fixing the mixfiring, AND the spark plugs". 3 hours into my drive, my car didn't go over 50mph. In a 80 mph zone. It was making the same odd noises the second I picked it up from the shop but he had assured me that it was fixed so it eased my worry. I just got my car FIXED in Idaho. I came to find out that this Wichita Falls mechanic COVERED EVERYTHING IN ELECTRICAL TAPE. That was the "FIX" I paid $150 for. YOU lied, and then you stole my money to go see a dentist. You knew I was traveling back home, you didn't think I would come back to demand a refund. Now we are both stumped.
Our son is stationed at the USAF base in Wichita Falls, TX. The Mini Cooper he was driving started missing and was soon running on three cylinders of the four cylinders. The BMW dealer would not work on the Mini other than oil change! We found reviews for Dr. Yamamoto (Dave) on Yelp and decided to give him a try. While he specializes in Hondas he accurately diagnosed the problems and performed the necessary repairs at a reasonable cost. We highly recommend Dr. Y for foreign car repairs. He is an honest, efficient and knowledgeable automobile technician.
I rarely ever leave reviews for businesses but my experience here was so positive I felt that I needed to share it. Dave is likely the most honest and expert Honda and Toyota mechanic you will ever come across. I have worked with Dave for a long time on my old Toyota Truck. When it died and I had it towed to him, I was sure it would never run again. After countless hours of diagnosis and troubleshooting for which Dave did not charge me, not only was the truck fixed but it runs like new! The cost was so low I was concerned that I was not being fair and compensating Dave sufficiently for his time. That is how honest this man is. Another mechanic could have easily bought the truck off of me for $500 and turned around and sold it for $5,000 (it turned out to be a simple fix). Another mark of his high degree of integrity is that he will use authentic Honda/Toyota or OEM parts whenever possible for the longevity of his work. He stands behind his work and knows your car better than anyone else in the industry (even the dealer - no kidding, he won't charge for unnecessary labor that the dealer is inclined to because he knows a faster route to replacing a part, etc.). My biggest regret to being stationed away from Wichita Falls (I am in the Air Force) is that I am sure I will likely never find a mechanic with the integrity that Dave has. Dave is an outstanding, fair, honest mechanic. My car is an overengineered nightmare to work on, but he went above and beyond with his work-even replaced other parts that were in danger of going out, and still stuck with his labor quote. Uses only factory replacement parts, so you know it's going to last. I'll be taking my work car here for any repairs from here on out.
