Not a bad park. It was very quiet. There is not alot to do inside the park, but the Ft. across the highway where the visitors center is located was neat to see. Some staff very friendly, others were very rude. Overall we enjoyed our quiet weekend stay.

My family spent hours here. The staff is so very sweet and helpful. We learned sooo much about life in the past. Learning is meant to be an experience not hours and hours at a desk.

Stargazers must visit! Full view of the milky way from horizon to horizon. I visited last week during a meteor shower and it was amazing.

Very cool piece of history! The attendant,Flor, was extremely helpful & knowledgeable. We will definitely return when we have more time to really delve into it.

Stayed one night on our way to Guadalupe NP. Spacious sites with power and water hookup. Great campground and would love to return and spend more time. The final chapter of Blood Meridian takes place at Fort Griffin ?

Campsite grounds and playground are in great shape and well maintained. Bathrooms are well maintained but dated. The fort was interesting to see for history buffs. Kids had a good time and want to go back to see more of the longhorns.

We got here late but we're still able to get on of the tent camping spots (no hookups) and just stayed in the parking lot. It's gravel but fairly level. I had to use a couple of leveling blocks. No big deal.

Wonderful Campground. Sites are spaced well apart. Roads are paved and sites are hard packed gravel and level. Several full hookup sites. Playground is centrally located. Night sky is amazing. Absolutely NO cell coverage.

When on a 2-day astronomy trip under those very very dark skies. got the shelter for the family got a campsite for my tent and I went out and observed the stars while they enjoyed the cabin. it was absolutely wonderful. it is one of the darkest sky locations in North America. Absolutely amazing. did not in 2 days ever have anyone pass by the campsite at all except the guy that picks up the trash and that was August (weekday)

We visited my boyfriend every weekend while he was working down here because we loved Fort Griffin so much! We stayed in an RV on site. Very clean and well kept! Loved the play ground, shower houses, and walking trails! Great place to make memories

First time to visit and we enjoyed the stay. Loved touring the old sites and and buildings. Flor was very friendly and informative at the main building. The campsites are spacious and the bathrooms clean. Features a nice playground and hiking trails. We’ll be back for sure.

Another saved piece of Texas history. The tour was really good and very informative. There are plans to completely rebuild the general store. Several of the buildings are in tact. Small museum on site. Thanks for the tour Eric!

We popped in just to stretch our legs and walked a short trail. It is very nice at this park. Very clean and well kept. Quiet. Bathrooms with showers was nice also. Stocked with soap and toilet paper. Did not visit the visitor center because it was after hours. We just put our entry fee in the drop box.

The staff was very helpful!! We camped here with our RV (43ft long) there aren't many spots for really big rigs but we were lucky enough to find one perfect spot for us. This place is very peaceful, a lot of rh activities you can do are outside, we didn't get to do much since it was a very hot weekend. We did walk some of the trails and they were beautiful. Waking up to birds singing and the breeze rustling the trees was amazing. Will definitely return.

The park is amazing we took our horses and it was very beautiful and free for veterans. The only downside side is the attendant inside the park station was VERY VERY EXTREMELY unfriendly and rude! She made us feel much as if we were bothering her and really very unwelcome for us to have brought horses .... my partner said there's usually a man that works there and that he is super kind, welcoming and friendly. Hopefully he'll be working the next time we go back. Otherwise, it's a great place to go and take your equines out for a nice, peaceful ride?

This is a family favorite. When I was young and while my sons were growing up, we were always excited. It has always been a quiet out of the way retreat to enjoy being together. Wish I were closer to go back, would in a heart beat! Last time my youngest son and I went was at least April or May of 2009. Miss the good times!

This is a good "Dark Sky" area. I went there to take a pano of the Milky Way. I was able to take some photos of the ruins at night which was great. I was there on a new moon night so the sky was very dark and the stars were super bright. Good place to go during the day also, to look at the ruins of Fort Griffin. I stayed in the campground which was a nice quiet place at the time I was there. It is just North of the historical site. Very friendly visitor center worker also.

Great little park, staff was extremely nice and obliging. The river access is a dropoff 3-5 feet above water level so, if you don't like the river access at the park for kayaking (putting in and taking out) there's another launch just south of Woodson on highway 183 at the second bridge only 20 minutes from the park.

It was very enlightening to see the fort spread out across the area instead of the "Hollywood packed together inside a wall version". Golf carts were provided to cover the grounds, and some buildings had been reconstructed to help visualize the layout and conditions. Flo at the visitors' center was very well informed, and after talking with us for a few minutes, understood our interests and provided additional brochures of sights to see. The RV campground was well kept with new connections and flat spaces. A very natural environment with deer grazing on the playground while we enjoyed morning coffee. Woodpeckers, longhorns, coyotes, javelinas, racoons, & armadillos in the adjacent river bottoms. All the wonderful sounds of creation as we sat around the firepit at night. I highly recommend it.

Absolutely breathtaking park, TV spots were very very well maintained. Would have given 5 stars but reservation process was phone only, no online option and we did not get a confirmation email with instructions... plus sites were first come first served, we had a great spot and a great time, but a 10k investment in an online reservation system would do this park tremendous service for years to come!

AH-MAY-ZING! We went after hours and it was so easy to get in and drive up to a nice spot for a view. Very clean, no worries at all. It was amazing to see the Milky Way and all the shooting stars and constellations. Loved it.

This was really interesting, especially for only a $4 entry fee (discounted rates for families). Best day to go is Saturday, where they have cattle talks with the herd manager, and fireside stories later at night. What's really cool is that the castle roam free, so they might just come walk right up by you. I had one come just a few feet from me

Great place to camp: lovely spots with grill, picnic tables, & water/electric. Large heated restrooms with showers. Lots of hiking trails, boat rentals, & longhorn cattle to see. Wish we would have had more time to explore.

The visitor center staff are welcoming and very friendly. If you love history, you must come visit..the golf cart tour of the fort is quite fun. We stayed in the campgrounds..tent..nice and clean..the campsites range from primitive to tent with water/electric available, as well as rv site. Campground has a children's play area, sand volley ball court, two nature trails, and restroom/shower facility. The area is remote, so be prepared. Very scenic place..did I mention they have Longhorn cattle too?

This state historical park is also the home of the Official State of Texas Longhorn Herd; what beautiful animals! The campground is quiet and lovely. We had 2 sites together, easy to back into. Nice paths to walk on throughout the campground too. Just a note, very little cell phone signal, and no wifi.
