Delicious!! It was recommended to me by some friends and we had a great night out! Our waitress, I believe she said her name was Manuela, was so kind and knowledgeable. The steak was absolutely delicious and the loaded baked potato honestly suprised me. We did go on a Saturday so the menu was different but I would like to try it on a weekday.
We look forward to eating at Blue Agave every hunting season! Relaxing and family friendly environment. The staff is always relational and easy going, and the food hits the spot.
First, their salad is not the typical west Texas equation of iceberg + croutons + ranch. I love that they use green lettuce, cucumbers, vegetables, and even throw in some craisins.
Their sangria??? Trust me. Sample it.

We ate inside, but I cannot wait for an enjoyable evening in their outdoor patio venue.

I should rate this place lower so others don’t find one of my favorite places to eat a great steak. The service, food and drinks, and atmosphere are always excellent here whether you eat inside the resturant or are attending a music performance at the outdoor stage.
I passed through Blackwell at least twice a week and have always wanted to try this restaurant and bar. This past week I finally got the chance to do so. I loved the outside area and Airstream camper. The sangria was wonderful in the states were humongous however they lacked flavor and were undercooked. The outside grounds and campfire made for a beautiful area outside. I'm looking forward to trying it again in the summer when it's warmer.
It’s hard for a steakhouse to stand out in Texas but this place succeeds. Decent burgers and such but the prize here are the filets. Outstanding meat cooked to perfection. Definitely worth driving out of your way to eat here.
This is a West Texas gem. Worth the drive! Great food, Service and Atmosphere! I had the OMC Chicken… a generous portion of 2 Mesquite Grilled Chicken breasts topped with grilled onions, mushrooms, and smothered in cheese!
Loaded baked potato with steak bites was delicious! This venue has marvelous outdoor spaces & and thoughtful, friendly wait staff. Saturday nights have a grown-up menu. Thurs & Fri nights have burgers, dogs, and sides available. We will definitely return.
Blue Agave catered an event that we attended - and I can say the food was beyond amazing. The owner was very personable, and we enjoyed getting g to talk about his restaurant. Will enjoy getting to visit the restaurant as soon as possible!
Had steak, loaded potato and a wonderful side salad that included 6 different items not just lettuce. Atmosphere was fun. Service was great. Note the menu doesn’t include sandwiches on Saturdays.
This place had the best steak, it was tender and juicy and very flavorful. The rest of the meal was also great. The service was wonderful, all the ladies were very nice and friendly.
The food was very good. The atmosphere is very nice. They have concerts and special events here. A concert would be a lot of fun. I loved the homemade corn dogs. The hamburgers were also very good. All hamburger and corndog, entre's come with fries.
This venue is an awesome gem in West Texas! The staff could not be nicer. They welcome you with open arms and truly want you to have a wonderful experience. The decor is amazing. There are many classic vintage signs and Texas items all over the property. The owners have taken special care to preserve the historic building and make it very interesting. Now for my take on the food. Tonight my party of four agreed we probably had the best steak we have ever eaten. It truly was quality and quantity! We chose the ribeyes but they have other choices. With our leftovers, we have enough for two more meals! To start our meal we also had the onion rings that were absolutely fabulous. They had a unique flavor and were perfectly fried. This restaurant and venue is well worth the drive from San Angelo or Abilene. Definitely go hungry!
My cousins along with another couple own this place. Atmosphere is awesome here. Multiple places to enjoy a meal, indoors or on the patio or even the lawn. They can accommodate for weddings or any get together you may have in mind. The history of this building is another perk here too. Take the time & check it out!!!

This was our first. It was beyond our expectations. We ordered the Tomahawk steak. Biggest steak I’ve ever seen! Our meal was great! Highly recommend this place!
Interesting take on outdoor dining. Back home this is NOT an option. The ribeye was EXCELLENT. Weather was perfect. I was a little unsure of eating outside. Back home the bugs would have destroyed me. I was pleasantly surprised. If it works out i will be back. The servers were actually jogging trying to take care of the amount of people there. The owner stopped by to talk to me. Nice to see small town america still hanging on.
We were visiting for an off-road race and this was the only restaurant within 25 miles that was open past 9:00pm. Noticed the high rating so we loaded up and drove out. That was the highlight of our trip. Service was excellent, atmosphere was stellar inside & out, but the hand cut ribeye was worth the drive from Dallas alone. We came back again the next night & even though they were packed with a band, we could not have enjoyed it more. If you ever find yourself anywhere close to this part of Texas, you don’t want to miss this gem.
Food was good and the environment charming, but I was repulsed by the poor customer service upon our arrival. My mother, knowing there is outdoor seating and that the indoor areas are often reserved for private parties, had called specifically to reserve a table indoors. She talked to Joel and was assured we would be seated indoors. When we arrived, the doors fronting the street parking were both locked, and seeing no signs about where to enter, we almost left. One of our party spotted an open gate in the fenced area down by the street corner, so we entered. We didn’t even know we were in the right place. There were no signs or greeters to help. As we wandered inward and peered in a window of a secondary building, someone poked his head out and seemed to indicate we should continue along the path. We walked to an area behind the main building and saw a door and looked in, but there was no one in that large space that contained many tables. I started hollering for anyone to help us, and finally someone came out of another small building and indicated our table outside. Mind you, the temperature was 105deg out, and unsuitable for outdoor dining, but they told us that was the only thing available, because all their inside dining areas were reserved for private parties. This, despite that large empty dining room we had just looked at that no one was using. They told us that was reserved for a small party at 8pm. Since our reservation was for around 5:30, it was strange they wouldn’t use that since it was so hot out. We told them the outdoor table was unacceptable, so they relented and allowed us to go inside and push two of the tables together. These tables had been pushed out of the way for the reserved party, so we had to move them ourselves. Now, the wait staff was delightful, and I have no complaints about them, but when my mother asked to talk with Joel, he was completely unapologetic and said he didn’t remember her asking to not eat outside. This tells me he either was lying or hadn’t been listening when my mother had called. There was no other reason for her to have called, except to reserve indoor seating. I was appalled by his disrespect.
Absolutely loved our time at The Blue Agave in Blackwell Texas. Food, service and staff was the best! Went to see Jerry Webb and band. They were awesome!
This place is a hidden gem! If you live on Abilene, San Angelo, Sweetwater, or anywhere in between, it is absolutely worth the drive. Incredible atmosphere and excellent food. Enjoy.
Fri night a group of 28 traveled from Sweetwater to Blue Agave in Blackwell, TX & had a wonderful time a great meal, we sat in the pretty outdoor venue & had live music, food cooked on their outdoor cowboy grill, they serve beer & wine & were very accomodating & for that large group served our meal timely. We loved the pork skins & the chicken was delicous. They have a good menu! It started to sprinkle so we moved inside the large tall ceiling old historical building & partied on. They were so nice and we will go back!!

This place was a great surprise at what a cool outdoor venue/restaurant! There was a live band playing on a great weather evening. The service was lacking and the food was good. The potential for this place is huge if a few things can be remedied ?
Blackwell could easily be dismissed as a west Texas forgotten ghost town. You could honestly blink and miss it BUT to do so would be a mistake. The place looks like nothing from the side but from the moment we parked we were welcomed by the kind of Texan hospitality you see in the movies. You enter through a fenced area and are immediately transported into the kind of Texan fairyland that so many people are trying to recreate. The vibes are unbelievable. From the random collection of signs, mix matched tables, long horn skulls, and Edison lightbulbs this place somehow pulls random together. There are a couple areas to hang out/eat that offer relief from the Texas heat but the real winner is the spacious back yard area which includes corn hole, seating, dinning, a music stage. We 100% came for the music and it didn’t disappoint. The place is licensed to only serve beer but you’re welcome to bring your own hard liquor and they’ll mix it up for you. If we had a server I didn’t know who it was- this place is the definition of team work is the dream work- we had at least 5 different servers coming to make sure everyone who wanted to left delightfully buzzed. The food was good but the fries were a bit cold- I’m chalking that up to bad luck. We shall return to enjoy another beautiful Texan evening listening to music in this random west Texas oasis.
