I've been a regular visitor to this scrap yard. The place is laid out pretty well and the staff are helpful and friendly. The vehicle scale goes in 20 lb increments. Drive to the back and they unload for you.
For smaller quantities they have a scale inside the main building.
Their rules are simple. Any mixed contents are priced at the lowest value metal price and you're not allowed to disassemble anything in the parking lot. You can offload a vehicle with 2 different material types going on the scale each time.
I have brought various steel/tin products, lead batteries, scrap copper, stainless steel and brass. Their prices are fair compared with other scrap yards in the RGV.
The BEST - BEST place to recycle and drop off ALL your scrap metal. Quick and easy! You get a great return for all your scrap metal. Excellent location, service and the most knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
I brought in a load of aluminum cans and had a great experience from start to finish. The staff was friendly, professional, and made the whole process quick and easy. They gave me a fair price and treated me with respect. Definitely coming back—highly recommend!
Today I went over 100 pounds at Wilkinson's metal recycling and a certain employee that has consistently been trying to be very critical of everything that I bring in for over a year now made it a extreme issue that before all My metal was placed on the weight he told all the employees to gather round and watch , it went over 100 pounds by eight pounds and with only one item, as soon as that happened he told me that I had to take all my stuff and put it back in my car and go to the back. All he had to do was remind me of the rules and take off that one item. Instead he made a show out of me. My name is Arturo Cantu and I have been going to Wilkinson's recycling almost daily for the last year, since my father passed away. I can tell you right now this is not the way you treat customers. Mr. Wilkinson your other employee lied about them having problems with me. Even though you pay us for the metal you earn close to twice what you pay us or more which is where you make your profit. Either you live off the work of your customers. We are not your employees and we don't have to put up with these behaviors that you backed up today. I don't know if I have been banned from there or not because I told all the customers to gather around and said I'm going to make a point also and said to that employee that he can pick up my metal. I had already used my time and effort the wear and tear of my vehicle, cleaned it and took it down and made a weight error than made a mochaey out of at your business by your employee. It makes me feel as if you all think you all are above the common folk. A severe boycott in your business would be the end of you. You need to remember where your living truly comes from. The problems they had with me was that I didn't know my metals at first and hadn't separated them perfectly with was holding up the line. I now have a pretty good knowledge of my metals, and this has only been the second time of over 256 days that I was contributing to your wealth Mr. Wilkinson.
My brother is an Attorney here in McAllen ,I am good friends with Jim Darling the former Mayor of McAllen and a former employee of the legal department in the City McAllen and have lived here for 45 years. I know a lot of people here, and really didn't appreciate todays events. I left my metal there but I hope I sent the right message to your employee that I don't take orders from him I'm a customer , he takes them from me. name
Horrible service called was told that we were open. I get there. They close 20 minutes early and when I called back, the lady in the office has nothing but a horrible attitude save your time and money and go somewhere else. This place is trash.
First time recycling aluminum cans for cash. Great place I walked in with my 2 bags of cans gentlemen at weight scale greeted me nicely and was very helpful. Gave me my scale reciept went to the window to cash in. I got my cash and was on my way. Very straight forward no hassles. Someone left a review on here previoulsy to come here with your cans and hes right ill say it second come here to cash in your aluminum cans. If you go early there are no lines.
Showed up 15 minutes before closing coming from Elsa all the way here to McAllen for them to not let me in despite the fact that they’re supposed to be open until 5pm. That is why there’s closing times right ? Also the customer service there is terrible ! All the ladies behind the glass have no sense of urgency for you or help. They’re rude and don’t care for your business. I’d rather drive hours away to a different scrap metal place than to return here ever again!
We got there at 4:45 and the lady would not let us go in the yard we knew exactly what we needed and where to find it. We traveled from a few city's away just to be turned away is very bad business. This was a Friday so clearly they wanted to leave early but they could be more clear that if they want to close early have it posted and clearly they don't.
Don't GO BAD SERVICE AND PRICE THEY GIVE YOU EXTRA WORK MAKE YOU REMOUVE PLASTIC FROM SCRAP YOU WILL CUT YOUR FINGERS AND AT THE END THEY TELL YOU THEY WILL NOT TAKE IT FROM YOU. RUDE STAFF THEY SPEAK OVER YOU AND NO MANAGER AVAILABLE ANDTHEY OFFER YOU CHEAP PRICE FOR YOUR SCRAP THEY WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOUR HARD WORK
Very unorganized.did get significant help and guidance. Went in to dispose of aluminum cans. Had a whole truck load and they wanted us to bring in over 20 some Large bags. Finally spoke to someone who was able to look at the volume we had and use the vehicle scale and dump directly into the hopper. However it did take a while to get then to understand what and how much we were taking in.
This is the place where you want to recycle your aluminum cans and metals. Plus you get cash in exchange for recycling. Sometimes you'll wait in line to weigh your items and depending on the weight and the sale of the cans will equal in how much you will get in exchange. I've been recycling here for years now and recommend it for everyone in the Mission area!

I wish they would buy more items instead of lumping everything into the same category, ex: I have small motors with copper in twine in them but they want to pay metal/tin price. I have extruded aluminum and they want to pay aluminum price. Also I wish they paid more on the non-common items ex: Motherboards, CPU's, Ram Sticks, Hard drives. Overall its a good place.

I sold some aluminum cans my first visit and they got a little upset about me throwing in some aluminum foil but they explained to me that aluminum foil is called paper aluminum and when they melt the material it turns to ash. Needless to say they should have rejected my deposit but they let it slide and told me just not to let it happen again. Very professional, polite and the facility is very organized. This was done in the morning and when I went to cash in my receipt the clerk at the window gave me a tiny complimentary breakfast taco wrapped in aluminum foil, that made me chuckle. It was potato and egg, my favorite.
