If there was a negative 5 star I would pick it.
I understand they tow vehicles that have no permit. Totally get that.
Problem is, they ONLY apply the rules to some folks and not to everybody.
My car broke down last night. Asked my sister for help and used her car.
Parked it front of my home, usual habit. I was going to ask for a temporary permit the next day since the leasing office was closed.
Safari towed in the dead of night/wee hours of the morning (at 4:00 am) because they know if folks stop them they won't earn a profit. So they are very sneaky in this sense. It's not really about enforcing the rules per se, really. Because guess what? If they were to enforce the rules, why wasn't the other car next to me towed? That car had ZERO sticker. I called this Dee posing as a human being. I asked for her last name, she sarcastically said "not happening", then hung up. WHAT? Called again and I asked her why she towed my car, she said sarcastically again: "I didn't tow your car!". She hung up. Called again, wasn't sure if I was talking to the right company? I asked her " Is this Safari Towing?". She again sarcastically retorted: "You know it is!". WHAT??????? Am I really hearing this from a supposed Manager? At this point, I was so mad at this lady. I was so frustrated that I already could not go to work without my car and pay $296, on top of my missed work (the state law only maxes at $255 for a car less than 10K lbs - unethical and corrupt?). And this lady is SUPPOSED to be Customer Service? I was so fed up I started to scream at her. Because I wanted to get to work and get answers. She screamed back. I screamed at her. She screamed back. We screamed at each other. I asked her; why she didn't tow the car right next to me, if they were "applying the rules". She said: "Worry about your car, not hers". Translation: Give me your money and I can be so rude to you.
I couldn't believe my ears! I screamed at the top of my voice saying: "The rules should apply to everyone!". I told her in my rage that I was going to sue the company for unequal application of rules and for overcharging. She said" "Go ahead". I told her in my uttermost umbrage that I was going to file a complaint with the TDLR. She proudly replied: "Go ahead".
Okay, so I guess there is some encouragement and permission there? Wil do it then. I have photos of the car next to me that has NO permit, and my car was the only one towed. I also taped my conversation (aka screaming match) with Dee so I will plan to submit those too, as evidence.
So those who stated in this review that this company is awesome. I am telling you right now and believe me when I tell you, they probably paid these people to post good reviews. Or they are probably F&F doing this company a favor by posting good reviews.
You would expect the Manager or any manager for that matter to be civil, polite, professional, ethical, competent and to diffuse an escalating situation? Right? This Dee made a bad day for me...... even worse. Piece of work man, piece of work. That JD guy probably tipped off Dee and coached Dee to be extremely rude to me if I called. He probably put down some notes for Dee that I was asking a legitimate question. JD and Dee probably flagged my phone number, to be treated worse than a human being and to be treated lower than dirt, if I did call them. How else could you explain the lower than low-grade treatment, immediately when I called without any provocation?
But I do believe in karma. And whatever you throw out there in the universe comes back to you, eventually.
Anyway, just beware. This has been my experience but could be different from yours. Just steer clear in my opiniion.
Writing this on 11 17 2023 in response to the company's generic reply:
1) "They were just doing there job". Hmmmm. Then why wasn't the car next to me, which has been parked there since I have moved last year in 2017 WITHOUT a permit, not towed? Huh?
2) How did Dee know the car next to me w/o a permit is owned by a FEMALE? Ahhh! They give a cut to my neighbor across (a Karen) to report cars to them?
